129: Scarlet Swan Song

Above the firmament, three mythical 'suns' clashed fiercely, stirring up the winds and clouds, each impact causing the earth to tremble.

That world-destroying power, like a prelude to the end of days, shattered the spirits of all observers on the Red Soil Plateau.

"They've made their move." Lilith's eyes erupted with wild joy.

Since the legends of Abyss Maw and Molten Heart had made their move, it meant the plan had succeeded.

Moreover, the distress signal she sent had also been triggered, so reinforcements shouldn't be far off.

Lilith looked up at the figure standing silently not far away.

The hope of surviving a desperate situation brought a sickly flush to her pale face.

She suddenly burst into a fit of wild laughter: "Haha... Hahahahaha! Did you see that? They've made their move!"

Lilith's voice was hoarse with excitement. She pointed at the energy light pillars in the distant sky and shrieked at Bai Xiao: "Your Infinite City is finished!"

"When Apolosi is defeated, none of you from the Blue Star Alliance will escape either..."

However, Bai Xiao just stood there quietly.

His gaze, calm, fell upon Lilith, as if he were looking at a... clown.

Lilith's laughter gradually died down, and the flush on her face froze due to this stagnant reaction.

......

In a gully some distance from the Infinite City camp, the atmosphere was heavy.

Several figures sat around a makeshift conference table, led by Maergan, the 'Prophet' of the Three-Eyed Race.

The vertical pupil on his forehead flickered with spiritual light, watching the battlefield shrouded by a giant purple light shield in the distance.

Beside him, several Dark Star Empire lords had ashen faces.

One of them, a burly lord in dark red armor, couldn't help but growl: "Lord Maergan! Are we just going to watch Lilith be trapped to death? She's the 'Crimson Countess'! She's an important..."

"An important pawn, and now it seems, yes." Maergan interrupted the lord.

"You!" The lord in dark red armor glared, his blood energy surging around him, clearly angered by Maergan's indifference.

"Calm down, Fero." Another slightly older Dark Star lord held him back.

Maergan tilted his head slightly, "Which of you is confident enough to break that formation and rescue Lilith?"

No one answered.

The restraining power emanating from the formation made them feel a chill in their hearts, even from such a great distance.

"And look at those soldiers."

Maergan's tone was a little helpless, "All Silver-tier, well-equipped, and with a magnificent military bearing. Infinite City... Heh, they've hidden themselves quite deeply. When did the Blue Star Alliance produce such a monster?"

He paused, "Inside the formation, there's also an unusual aura; that's definitely the power of a peak Gold-tier."

"Lilith had no chance against him from the start."

"Even so..." Fero was still unwilling.

Although Lilith's Bloodline Knight regiment was annihilated, if she herself could be rescued, she would still be a formidable force.

Moreover, they had had certain "friendly" exchanges.

"Even so, what?"

A sneer flashed in Maergan's vertical pupil, "Charge in and be chopped to pieces with her by that unknown expert, then become another medal for Infinite City to boast about its achievements?"

"Or do you think your troops are more elite than Lilith's Bloodline Knights and can gain an advantage against such an opponent and such a military formation?"

His words were like ice water, extinguishing Fero's last bit of agitation.

"Lilith... she can only rely on herself now." Maergan sighed softly.

"Then what about us...?" another Three-Eyed Race lord asked in a low voice.

"Retreat." Maergan's tone was indifferent, "Infinite City is much stronger than we anticipated. After Apolosi's situation is resolved, we'll decide how to deal with them."

"But..." Fero still wanted to say something, but the older Dark Star lord beside him pulled him back and shook his head.

Maergan ignored them, looking at the battlefield again, the light in his third eye gradually fading.

"Send word down, the entire army is to retreat."

"Yes!"

Several figures quietly vanished into the gully, as if they had never appeared.

They had arrived with some unrealistic expectations, but left with only apprehension and... indifference to the fate of their comrade.

......

Above the battlefield, the light of the [Spirit Pivot Soul Lock Array] remained brilliant.

Lilith's wild joy had faded.

Time passed, minute by minute.

Above the sky, the three 'suns' representing the clash of legendary powerhouses still collided fiercely, shaking heaven and earth.

But the reinforcements she had hoped for never appeared.

A terrifying thought, like a poisonous snake, slithered into her heart.

Had she been abandoned?

Those "allies" who had been so attentive to her in the past, swearing to advance and retreat with her, had chosen to stand by and watch when she needed help the most?

No, this was impossible!

Maergan was resourceful; he must be planning some earth-shattering rescue operation!

Those colleagues from the Dark Star Empire wouldn't be so forgetful either!

But... why... why was there not even a hint of movement?

Lilith stared intently outside the formation, hoping to see familiar figures, even if it was just a Dark Star Empire banner.

However, there was nothing.

Only the silent soldiers of Infinite City, their cold armor reflecting the purple light, like a group of grim reapers from the underworld.

Her heart sank, little by little.

The belief that had sustained her collapsed in the face of cruel reality.

Despair, like a tide, engulfed her.

"Heh... hehe..." Lilith suddenly let out a low laugh, full of self-mockery and venom.

She had been abandoned.

All those damned alliances and friendships were nothing but fleeting clouds in the face of danger.

She, after all, had been forsaken...

Bai Xiao's sword-armor already covered his entire body, and the longsword in his hand glowed with white-gold light, its tip flickering with pale white flames.

He was like a patient hunter, waiting for the prey's final struggle to end.

Lilith raised her head and looked at Bai Xiao, her once charming and alluring eyes now dull and lifeless.

"You want me to die, do you... Then none of you will have it easy either..." Her voice was hoarse.

She suddenly raised her hand, her five fingers forming a claw, and fiercely clawed at her own chest.

"Pfft—"

The already dim [Bloody Aura] shattered with this claw attack!

Countless crimson light points scattered from the broken aura, yet they strangely did not dissipate, but instead transformed into blood energy, flowing back into her body!

"Ugh ah ah ah—!"

An indescribable agony surged in, causing Lilith to let out muffled groans.

Her body trembled violently.

On the surface of her skin, streaks of blood-colored demonic patterns moved and spread like living things.

Burning vital blood! A desperate gamble!

"By my blood, I declare despair... [Domain · Crimson Funeral]!"

Lilith shrieked, her arms suddenly spread wide.

"Boom—!"

A thick, ink-like, foul-smelling blood-colored energy burst forth from her!

The blood-colored energy spread wildly in all directions, attempting to drag everything around into this crimson funeral.

However, the [Spirit Pivot Soul Lock Array] was like an insurmountable chasm; as soon as the blood-colored energy surged out, it was immediately suppressed back, only able to churn within a few meters around her.

Even at the cost of burning everything she had, the domain she could unleash was only this pitifully small area.

But Lilith had no other choice, and madness flashed in her eyes.

"Die... for me!"

Lilith let out a roar, her figure flashed, transforming into a blood-colored lightning bolt, directly pouncing on Bai Xiao!

The slender rapier in her hand was now also stained with a layer of blood-light, its tip pointing directly at Bai Xiao's throat.

This was her all-or-nothing attack!

However, Bai Xiao in front of her suddenly vanished.

The next moment, he appeared beside her.

An alarm bell rang wildly in her heart, and she tried to forcefully twist her body to dodge, but it was already too late.

In a daze, the entire world inverted and spun before her eyes.

"So... the gap... is this big..."

Her vision began to blur, and fragmented images flashed uncontrollably in Lilith's mind.

She remembered her magnificent castle, and her Bloodline Knight regiment, which she had painstakingly cultivated.

She remembered that if she had just stayed in her territory, even if she was ultimately defeated, she could at least use the Lord's Core to teleport away from this damned world, thereby saving her life.

Unlike now...

Ending up dying in a foreign land.

Lilith muttered to herself, the light in her eyes rapidly fading.
