363: Wafa, can you stop lying?

Facing the conditions Roy laid out, Liu Yan was tempted.

As a base salary, this package seemed decent enough.

After all, he was just an ordinary person.

Those reporters were willing to brave danger for one million haf coins.

Yet he could pull in three million haf coins a month just by hanging around inside.

Wasn't this a stroke of good luck falling right into his lap?

“What are the usual missions like? Is there any life-threatening danger?”

Seeing Liu Yan wavering, Roy gave him two friendly pats on the shoulder.

“Most missions aren't dangerous at all.”

“Don't worry, with me around, you won't kick the bucket.”

As he spoke, Roy patted his own chest with his other hand.

It was as if he were giving a guarantee.

Liu Yan could see through Roy's eyes that the man was being sincere.

“Fine, I'm in.”

“But will there be an assessment or something?”

“Or newcomer training?”

“After all, I'm just an ordinary person. If I have to face an assessment from an organization like yours right off the bat, I might not pass.”

Hearing Liu Yan say this, Roy thought it made some sense.

But then he reconsidered; since the higher-ups wanted to invite him to join,

then they would surely go easy on the assessment part.

At the very least, there would be a period of specialized training.

Maybe he would even get a chance to be an instructor?

“What are you smiling about?” Liu Yan looked at the grinning Roy, completely baffled.

“Oh, nothing.”

“Don't worry, there is an assessment, but they'll likely evaluate your current level first, then train you.”

“Finally, there's the end-of-term assessment.”

Hearing Roy say this, Liu Yan breathed a slight sigh of relief.

But only slight.

An indescribable sense of urgency, the kind felt before an exam, inexplicably welled up in his heart.

“There's nothing left for us to do here. Come on, I'll take you back to the Special Operations Department first.”

Roy stood up, brushed off his pants, and then walked out of the Tourist Center.

Liu Yan also stood up and followed him out.

“Wait...”

Just then, a voice came from behind Liu Yan.

Liu Yan instinctively turned his head and met the eyes of the soldier called Wafa.

For some reason,

the moment he saw Wafa, Liu Yan's mind was instantly occupied by an inexplicable emotion.

“My name is Wafa... Thank you for just now.”

Wafa bowed solemnly to Liu Yan.

Liu Yan looked taken aback and nodded slightly.

To be honest, even now, Liu Yan hadn't figured it out himself.

Why had he been so impulsive just then?

You had to know, these Soldiers who looked like terrorists and those unreasonable reporters had absolutely nothing to do with him.

But he just couldn't control himself.

“May I ask what your name is?” Wafa looked up at Liu Yan.

The latter shook his head slightly.

“Liu Yan.”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Liu Yan himself was stunned for a moment.

Originally, he hadn't intended to tell the other person his name.

But he had instinctively told him his real name.

Why... After hearing Liu Yan's name, Wafa looked at him solemnly.

“Mr. Liu Yan, this time, Asara owes you a favor.”

“If you ever need help in the future, you can come find us at Dam Zero anytime.”

“But remember, whatever you do, do not go to Longbow Stream Valley.”

“Thank you.” Liu Yan firmly etched the warning into his mind, then nodded with a smile.

His recklessness had inadvertently earned him a favor; looking at it that way, it wasn't a loss.

However, he couldn't be so impulsive next time.

With this thought in mind, Liu Yan turned and left the Tourist Center with Roy... “Damn it, it was definitely Hafke's doing!”

“Exactly, besides Hafke, who else would come and blow up the dam?”

Not long after Liu Yan and Roy left, Sayyid returned to the Tourist Center with some of the Soldiers.

Sayyid's once pristine white suit was now covered in mud and sand.

“Alright, that's enough talk. Be careful or you'll be recorded and posted online.”

Sayyid glanced at the reporters nearby and helplessly gave the Soldiers a quiet warning.

“Sir, you're back.”

Seeing Sayyid return, Wafa stepped forward and informed him of everything that had just happened.

“What? You're saying a college student who looks like he just graduated snatched Samar's gun?”

“And then, holding the gun with one hand without even aiming properly, he accurately headshot those reporters?”

At this, Sayyid let out a scoff.

“Wafa, can't you lie a little less? You're talking complete nonsense!”

“There's enough going on right now; I don't have time to listen to your made-up stories.”

“Tell me the truth, who disobeyed orders and shot the reporters!”

Sayyid's tone was somewhat cold.

This accident would undoubtedly make Asara's international image even worse.

Furthermore, when they went to the top of Dam Zero to investigate just now, they hadn't found a single soul.

“Sir... Wafa really isn't lying to you this time.”

“If you don't believe it, you can ask these reporters.”

Seeing that Sayyid was about to lose his temper, the nearby Soldiers quickly stepped in to smooth things over.

“Sir! I apply to join Asara!”

“Me too! I might not be good with a gun, but I can help Asara salvage its international image!”

“Yes! I have plenty of evidence of Hafke bribing reporters to smear Asara!”

Before Sayyid could even speak, those reporters from before pounced in front of him as if they were seeing their own father.

Now, Sayyid was practically their life-saving straw.

As long as Sayyid nodded and they joined Asara, they could at least hide from Hafke's wrath for a while.

If Sayyid refused, even if he didn't kill them, they would have no way to escape Hafke's retaliation.

Facing the reporters' reactions, Sayyid looked at Wafa, then at the other Soldiers.

For a moment, his face under the mask was filled with disbelief.

Those things that sounded like fake news just now... were they true?

A college student who looked fresh out of school—never mind how he snatched a gun from a soldier,

and never mind how he managed such precise shooting,

just considering Hafke's smear campaign against Asara this time, it was actually dismantled by him?

And he happened not to belong to Asara.

GTI... that was even more impossible.

GTI had always been impartial.

If it were GTI's way of doing things, they would only help Asara salvage its image.

But they would absolutely never turn the tables on Hafke like this.

After his mind raced for a long while, Sayyid accepted this dreamlike reality.

He'd just treat it as the Heavens being unable to stand Asara's current situation anymore and specifically sending someone to help them... “Samar.”

“Present.”

“Tonight, you're doing an extra two hundred push-ups and one hundred pull-ups.”

“To have your gun snatched by a college student who just graduated—if you were facing Hafke Soldiers, wouldn't you be picked up like a little chick?”

Hearing about the extra training, Samar looked completely innocent.

“No, sir, that kid was incredibly strong! And his movements were lightning-fast.”

“If it were you... maybe you'd get snatched too...”

Samar muttered the last sentence in a voice only he could hear.

However, even that sound did not escape Sayyid's ears.

“Let alone one college student, even if ten came, it would be impossible for them to snatch the gun from my hand!”

While Sayyid's gaze wasn't on him, Samar made a face at his back and then stood to the side with great reluctance.

“Sir, were the people who blew up Dam Zero caught?”

“Yeah, sir, all these reporters belong to us now.”

“When the time comes, we can also use the news to let everyone see Hafke's true colors.”

Hearing the Soldiers' questions, Sayyid's eyes gradually narrowed.

He slowly shook his head.

“No, there's something fishy about this...”

“Settle these reporters in the Tourist Center for now.”

“Once the water from the dam has mostly drained, we'll have to rebuild the facilities at Dam Zero...”

Sayyid's voice sounded somewhat helpless.

With this dam explosion, the Administration Building, Cement Factory, and Substation were almost all directly washed away.

And what made Sayyid feel most frustrated was

that this matter really didn't seem to be Hafke's doing.

Because when he went to the top of the dam to check just now, Sayyid could tell at a glance from the traces left behind.

The explosives used to blow up the dam were of very poor quality.

Furthermore, the placement of the explosion was very crude.

If it were Hafke's methods, it absolutely wouldn't be like this.

After all, Dam Zero was built with Hafke's assistance.

They knew its internal structure better than anyone.

They would only need to find the right points for a precision demolition.

But from the traces just now, it was obvious the other party had no idea about the internal structure and had just used a bunch of low-grade explosives in a haphazard mess.
