97: Ways to end the war
“How do you know?” Sayid suddenly turned his head, his eyes full of shock.
“I wasn’t sure before, but now I am.”
As Liu Yan spoke, he took out a can of saliva-producing lemon tea from the vacuum cleaner and handed it to Sayid.
“Good stuff, try it.”
The reason Liu Yan dared to be so bold with Sayid was mainly because he understood Sayid’s background story.
From his recent behavior, Sayid was indeed much easier to get along with than Reis.
Speaking of which, Sayid was also a pitiful person.
His mother died in childbirth, and his father raised him alone, teaching him to hunt.
Under his father's guidance, Sayyid learned many skills and became an excellent hunter.
Unfortunately, good times did not last. One day, returning from a hunt, his father was killed and his village was destroyed.
And all of this was due to Hafke.
As for Reis, he was a pure warlord.
“Thank you,” Sayid accepted the lemon tea Liu Yan offered.
“Since you have the demeanor of an old friend, let me give you a heads-up.”
“Before that string of numbers reaches 100, enjoy the rest of your life.”
Sayid’s words did not surprise Liu Yan; he was already prepared.
“It seems you’ve experienced many descents already?” Liu Yan caught the key point.
Sayid remained silent, indicating his affirmation. He lifted his mask and drank the lemon tea in his hand in one gulp.
“What happens after the descent? Will you go to war with Hafke?” Liu Yan pressed on.
“Also, how many worlds are there exactly?”
“How many leaders like you are there?”
The barrage of questions made Sayid frown.
“Are you always this familiar? I’m already being very generous by not killing you.”
Liu Yan sighed, then spoke with a serious expression:
“Don’t you want to end the war?”
Sayid’s body suddenly stiffened, and he slowly turned his head.
“End it?”
“Have you seen war? Do you know how insignificant an individual is in a battle of that scale?”
“All the Soldiers are like walking corpses, dying in overwhelming numbers under Hafke’s artillery fire!”
“Millions of blue eagle helicopters bomb indiscriminately; what can you do in such a situation?”
Sayid was extremely agitated, his masked face almost pressed against Liu Yan’s, and he was still panting after speaking in one breath.
Liu Yan remained silent for a moment, then spoke a few words faintly:
“We have to try, otherwise, we just wait to die?”
Sayid felt as if he had been electrocuted, scrutinizing Liu Yan in front of him.
In a trance, he seemed to return to decades ago, after a small-scale war had ended.
To the man who sat with him on the hillside, drinking under the setting sun.
The other party was the human with the strongest individual combat ability he had ever seen in his life.
“We have to try, otherwise, we just wait to die?”
In an instant, the two voices seemed to merge, pouring into Sayid’s ears.
Thinking of this, Sayid shook his head regretfully.
“There was once a person like you, full of idealism, but in the end, he still failed.”
“He was stronger than you, much stronger, but he also failed.”
At this point, Sayid was silent for a moment, then waved his hand.
“Never mind, if you want to try, then try.”
“What I can tell you is that in any region, there is only one true leader.”
“The other leaders are not very strong.”
“After the descent, all weapons in your world will become ineffective, and what you will face… is being drawn into the war between Hafke and Asara.”
“There are only two ways to end the war.”
“Either one side completely collapses, or… all humans in your world die.”
“But doing so does not mean the war ends; it merely means the battlefield shifts elsewhere.”
Liu Yan was pondering the words he had just heard, and when he looked up, he realized Sayid was already preparing to leave.
“What does ‘shift’ mean?”
Liu Yan shouted at Sayid’s retreating back.
“Literal meaning.” Sayid waved his hand and disappeared at the end of the corridor.
On the first floor of the Administration Building, Sayid ran into a group of Asala Soldiers rushing towards him.
Three of the Soldiers had three stripped Soldiers on their shoulders.
For a moment, the air seemed to freeze.
The group of Soldiers exchanged glances. Carrying their leader’s Soldiers to a new leader, right in front of their current leader… this seemed impolite no matter how you looked at it.
After only a second of hesitation, the Soldiers’ eyes became firm.
Instantly, more than ten fully modified guns were raised, aimed at Sayid.
“For Liu Yan!”
“Disarm Sayid and carry him to the boss!”
Sayid looked at the muzzles pointed at him, then turned his head to look upstairs, and spoke impatiently:
“All of you, get out of my way. All of you combined can’t beat me.”
“Don’t waste the equipment he gave you for nothing.”
Sayid ignored the Soldiers and walked straight through them.
Seeing this, the Soldiers hesitated for a moment, then finally gave up the idea of attacking Sayid.
“What are you still looking at? Hurry up and carry those three over.”
Sayid was not bluffing; they really couldn’t beat him combined.
It was best if he didn't make a move first; otherwise, the equipment Liu Yan gave them would be wasted for nothing.
“Let’s go, the boss said to prioritize self-preservation,” one of the Soldiers said.
Although they didn't understand Sayid’s actions, it wasn't their concern. Their current goal was to bring these three new Soldiers to Liu Yan.
After the Soldiers swarmed upstairs, Sayid looked in the direction of the upper floor, his expression very complex.
For some time now, the Dam Zero Soldiers from various worlds had been acting strangely, and Sayid had naturally noticed it long ago.
The Soldiers often shouted “For Liu Yan.” At first, Sayid wanted to eliminate these Soldiers directly.
Even if there were tens of thousands, for him, eliminating them would only take some time.
But when he saw the equipment the Soldiers were wearing, Sayid developed a strong interest in Liu Yan.
He even saw three Soldiers wearing level six armor.
At the time, Sayid was so shocked his eyes almost popped out.
He himself was only wearing level five armor!
He had never seen any leader spend such a huge amount of money on his Soldiers.
“Perhaps this is why they are willing to follow you.”
Sayid hadn’t told Liu Yan the true effect of the bust just now.
“A bust that can only give Soldiers reason and make them swear to follow for one day, in his hands, it has become eternal loyalty.”
“Perhaps compared to his extreme individual heroism.”
“Your choice is more likely to approach success.”
After speaking, Sayid’s figure gradually blurred, eventually disappearing completely.
Upstairs, the Soldiers threw the three Soldiers in front of Liu Yan.
“Boss, there aren’t many Soldiers left; we only managed to gather three now.”
“Well done.” Liu Yan gave a thumbs up.
Then he immediately pulled out a bust from quantum storage.
“wuxidixi!”
Soon, the expressions of the three Soldiers changed.
As before, Liu Yan threw the pre-prepared equipment to the three Soldiers.
After handling all of this, one of the Soldiers told Liu Yan about encountering Sayid just now.
“Sorry, boss, we are not afraid to die, but Commander Sayyid said… not to waste the equipment you gave us for nothing…”
The Soldiers lowered their heads as if they had made a mistake.
“As long as you nod, boss, we’ll go and fight Sayid right now!”
As they spoke, all the Soldiers simultaneously adopted a fighting stance.
Liu Yan had no doubt that if he said yes now, all the Soldiers would rush out.
“Put down your guns, don’t be crazy. You did very well.”
“The equipment I gave you didn’t come out of nowhere; don’t just throw your lives away at every turn.”
