49: Plague God

Liu Yan and his companion's landing spot for this round was at Position 1 in front of the Babel Tower, which is the central gate's Position 1.

This position is both good and bad.

If the other two teams happen to be aggressive players, then this position is very likely to face a pincer attack from both teams.

Conversely, it's not difficult for the central gate to attack the other two sides. The crates on both sides provide the best defense, and even if one unfortunately goes down, there's enough room for error to safely revive a teammate.

Of course, one just needs to be careful of Mighty Dragon flying directly over with his jetpack.

Since there were only two of them, Liu Yan didn't plan to engage enemies on the sides from the outer containers, but instead chose to pull the lever directly.

"Warning: Restricted area power is about to restart. Door access will be disabled after power restart. All security personnel are to maintain a high level of alert."

As Liu Yan pulled down the gate switch, the familiar voice of the security procedure echoed throughout the entire Babel Tower.

"Damn it, what's going on? Hearing that voice, I feel a little nervous," Fuji whispered, hiding in the grass by the door with his M250.

Liu Yan, while putting on his power propulsion device, turned his head and said to Fuji:

"Relax, just follow me at full speed later."

This position's door opens earlier than the other two sides, and this time difference is enough for Liu Yan to set up his firing line before the opponents enter.

When the time came, Liu Yan quickly opened the door and rushed in.

Whoosh—!

Utilizing the displacement from the power propulsion device and the subsequent acceleration, Liu Yan was at the stairs in the blink of an eye.

Without the speed boost from two C4s, Liu Yan couldn't be sure if his running speed would be enough to set up his weapon before the opponents entered.

Liu Yan sprinted wildly, practically risking his life, while Fuji behind him was already left far behind.

At this speed, Liu Yan quickly managed to reach the Ocean Monitoring Hall side, where he used the slope at the stairs to crouch and conceal his figure.

After Liu Yan set up his weapon, Fuji, panting heavily, finally caught up to Liu Yan's side.

This also surprised Liu Yan; it was reasonable for him to arrive at this speed with the power propulsion device.

He hadn't expected Fuji to be able to keep up, even barely.

There was no time to think; the sound of the door opening and footsteps were already faintly reaching Liu Yan's ears.

"Get ready. When I shoot, you shoot. Just fire straight ahead," Liu Yan whispered.

Fuji nodded solemnly.

As the footsteps gradually approached, just as the first person was about to open the door and enter the Ocean Monitoring Hall, the giant wave of gunfire erupted!

Dudu dudu—!!!!

Immediately following was the Life-soothing demon-like sound of the M250!

Dong dong dong dong dong—!!!!!!

The first person died on the spot, and even the two behind them, before they could react, fell silent amidst the interwoven gunfire.

"This is the importance of positioning, and something everyone needs to pay special attention to. Every area has similar situations."

"You must understand the counter-positioning and flash attacks between different landing spots, otherwise, you won't even know how you died."

Liu Yan briefly spoke to the void.

"This is so exhilarating, so exhilarating! Is this the M250! I feel full of power now, I want to take on ten!"

Fuji, who had never experienced anything like this, was so thrilled his scalp felt like it was lifting off.

Seeing his expression, Liu Yan knew.

Fuji might never be able to go back.

The Third District and delta operation were surprisingly consistent on this point: once you experienced the feedback from advanced equipment, fully modified weapons, and high-grade ammunition, it was very difficult to go back to using those inferior weapons.

After dealing with this team, Liu Yan pulled Fuji forward, moved the three bodies together into the Ocean Monitoring Hall, and then closed the door.

"You organize first, I'll listen for information." Saying this, Liu Yan sat down to the side and pulled out his military terminal from his pants.

After cycling through all the teams, the number of switchable targets was one less than the first time.

Liu Yan randomly picked a team and began to eavesdrop.

"It looks like the fight over there is over. Should we go check it out?"

"Forget it, let's play it safe. We'll just guard here. My brother taught me that there's a lever in the museum's basement."

"If others want to evacuate, they'll come to pull the lever. We'll just hide nearby and wait."

"Wait! It sounds like someone's coming!"

Bang bang bang—!!!!!

"Old Liu!"

Bang bang bang—!!!!!

"Chen... Chen Yu!! Don't... don't... don't kill me, I'll give you all my gear."

"Ah!!!"

Bang—!!!!

As the chaotic sounds faded, one less team appeared on the military terminal.

Liu Yan switched the signal to the next team.

Similar to before, after a brief exchange between a few people, gunfire erupted, and within five seconds, the team was wiped out.

Liu Yan, holding the military terminal, slowly frowned.

"Is it him?" Liu Yan murmured.

Fuji, who was organizing his backpack nearby, suddenly froze, slowly turned his head, and asked in horror:

"Chen Yu?!"

Liu Yan nodded.

"One team was just killed by him."

Upon hearing this, Fuji's eyes widened!

"Are you kidding me! If I had known we'd run into him, we wouldn't have come in!"

"Where's the extraction point? Let's leave now!"

"We can't leave now. Only the bathhouse allows for an initial lever pull."

Liu Yan shook his head in surprise, not understanding why everyone reacted so strongly to Chen Yu's name.

"What's the deal with this Chen Yu?"

Liu Yan didn't fully understand Chen Yu's strength.

Undeniably, Chen Yu was the only person who had given him a sense of pressure since he entered the Third District.

But just this level shouldn't make him universally known and elicit such strong reactions, right?

"Chen Yu, almost everyone in the Third District knows that name. His nickname is Warden, and he's famously vengeful!"

"I heard that if anyone provokes him, he'll wait at various entrances until they enter, then follow them, find them in the operation area, and kill his enemies in the way that leaves the most severe after-effects."

"And even if they hide for a while, if they meet him someday in the future, Chen Yu will still remember them!"

Liu Yan slowly nodded.

No wonder, merely being strong wouldn't create such a reputation.

"Damn it, why are we so unlucky? I wonder which jinx offended him!" Fuji paced back and forth, extremely uneasy.

Liu Yan hesitated for a moment, then finally said truthfully:

"That weapon was snatched from his boss."
