134: Chapter 134 The Legendary Yanqi Mountain

Lei Jun, Lu Jinwen, and the others were being pointed at unceremoniously by two jowly Muscle Men with guns, who demanded they provide a Shanhe Base pass to enter or exit the gate.

Lu Jinwen had always lived in comfort while following Qi Yin, and the people at Xiyin Base treated them with courtesy; when had she ever suffered such indignity?

"Hey, Xichi, what kind of attitude is this? I absolutely have to teach them a lesson!"

She complained to Meng Xichi, and a golden dagger flew in from out of nowhere, aiming straight for the heart of one of the Muscle Men, stabbing directly into it.

Meng Xichi smiled faintly, clearly having no objections; his younger sister was young, so what if she was a bit impulsive?

With a "squelch," the Muscle Man collapsed on the spot.

"You're here to pick a fight, aren't you!" Seeing this, the other gatekeeping Muscle Man immediately thought to open fire.

But just as the bullet was chambered, Lei Jun reached out and blocked the muzzle directly. How could a single bullet penetrate the iron-clad defenses of a Level 3 Earth-type Ability User?

No matter how hard he pulled the trigger, the bullet simply wouldn't fire. He wanted to yank the gun back, but the tall woman in front of him wouldn't let go, and her strength was monstrous; he couldn't pull it away at all.

Lei Jun spoke slowly: "We are from Xiyin Base, here on orders to deliver something to the base leader. We don't have your pass, and my younger sister was just being ignorant earlier. Please understand and do us the favor of reporting our arrival, otherwise..."

She glanced at the burly man on the ground with blood bubbling from his chest; otherwise, this would be your fate.

He was clearly a burly man, but he was completely spineless, getting so scared by her aura that he plopped onto the ground and tremblingly fished out his communicator.

"M-Master... Six Ability Users from Xiyin Base have arrived outside. They say they are here to deliver something to you!"

Perhaps the person on the other end of the communicator agreed, for after a long moment, the burly man finally composed himself and climbed up. No longer daring to underestimate the group before him, he pressed a button.

The base gate opened!

"You guys, go in!"

Lei Jun didn't even spare him another glance and led her group straight inside.

Not until the figures of the six disappeared around the corner did the burly man's gaze suddenly turn cold and fierce.

"Pah, what trash. Just wait and see how Master deals with you!"

Deep inside Shanhe Base, guided by a soldier, an eerie old castle appeared before them.

The outer walls of the castle were painted with faded religious murals; although the colors were vivid, they revealed an eerie feeling everywhere. Even Lu Jinwen, who loved dark aesthetics, couldn't help but grab onto Lei Jun's arm.

"Sister Jun, this place is so strange!"

The soldier who brought them here left as soon as he brought them to the entrance, so they had to walk into the castle gate themselves.

As they stepped inside, Zhou Le couldn't help but cover his nose: "Such a heavy floral scent!"

In comparison, Lei Jun, Meng Xichi, and Qian Dong were expressionless and much calmer.

Footsteps echoed in the empty hall, sounding exceptionally clear.

The further they walked inside, the stranger Lu Jinwen felt.

"How is this place like a vampire's lair? It's full of cold gusts."

She was at least half a fan of Gothic style, but the atmosphere here was definitely not that simple pursuit of cool "dark aesthetics." Instead, it gave people a genuine, spine-chilling sense of oppression and morbidity.

Meng Xichi's eyes were cautious, and the group subconsciously shielded Lu Jinwen in the middle.

Lu Jinwen: Actually, that's not necessary, alright? She was also a Level 3 Ability User, and no weaker than them.

Perhaps it was because she was young, and her image left a stereotypical impression on people?

Lei Jun walked in the lead, her pace steady, with no expression on her face at all.

This was the lair of the traitor Yanqi Mountain. He and the leader were at odds, and after their falling out, the two basically had no interaction. So, coming here this time, Yanqi Mountain would definitely want to pry open their mouths to see what the leader was planning. Before figuring out their intentions, he wouldn't easily take action.

Not until they pushed open an ebony door carved with intricate black rose patterns did a more suffocating hall present itself before their eyes.

At the end of the hall, on a flight of steps, sat a chair crafted from red wood and metal, with a twisted design entwined with countless dark red rose reliefs.

That was Yanqi Mountain's Rose Throne!

And Yanqi Mountain himself was currently sitting sideways in the center of the seat, dressed in a long black tailcoat suit. His figure looked slender and powerful, the spitting image of a vampire male model, but he wore a large face mask, so Lu Jinwen couldn't see his specific appearance clearly.

Was this the legendary Yanqi Mountain that the older sister and the others spoke of?

How did she feel like this guy was shady beyond measure?

Who would live in such a haunted place if they were a normal person? Just for show, right?

At that moment, Yanqi Mountain was completely sunken into the shadows of the seat, his fingers tapping the armrest rhythmically, his phoenix eyes staring at the people below the stage.

Out of curiosity, Lu Jinwen noticed that there seemed to be something on the edge of Yanqi Mountain's mask.

Moreover, the tiny bit of forehead skin he revealed seemed to have a few abnormal dark red lines, crawling like little bugs.

"That is..."

She subconsciously wanted to warn Lei Jun in front, but was gently tugged on the finger by Meng Xichi beside her.

She turned her head and saw Meng Xichi slightly shake his head.

Clearly, he had also noticed it, but now was not the time to talk about it.

"It's you guys again? Ants that crawled out of a pile of dead bodies; yo, there's even an extra little cutie..."

Yanqi Mountain's voice came through the mask, carrying a strange hoarseness and mockery.

"Did Xiao Sinian send you here to issue a challenge? Or... to beg for medicine?"

He dragged out the last word deliberately, as if everything were under his control.

Lei Jun ignored the mockery in his words and stepped forward, not even giving him a basic form of address.

To a traitor, she had nothing to say.

"The leader sent us to deliver a gift to you. As for medicine? Sorry, thanks to you, he is perfectly fine and doesn't need your medicine."

She placed the metal briefcase in her hand on the ground and opened it; inside lay a solitary USB drive.

Yanqi Mountain's eyes darkened. So that meant Xiao Sinian was fine?

How was that possible? Having been hit by his dark energy, his Supernatural Ability should have been crippled, and he should be half-dead; how could he be fine?

These people were truly worthy of being Xiao Sinian's subordinates; they were very stubborn.

"A gift?" Yanqi Mountain sneered.

"Xiao Sinian and I aren't on good enough terms to be exchanging gifts, are we?"

He waved his hand, speaking in a paranoid and guarded manner, pointing at Lei Jun: "You, open it, right here."

If it really was a USB drive, that was easy to talk about. If it was something else, then these favorite subordinates of Xiao Sinian would just have to stay here and sleep forever with him.

With a wave of his hand, two soldiers who appeared from nowhere brought up a laptop.

Lei Jun didn't show it on the surface, but how could she not know the little schemes in his heart? He was simply afraid it was a bomb or something similar and wanted to drag a few people down as buffers.

Traitor. Madman.

However, he might be disappointed, this madman...
