4: Chapter 4 Procurement Plan

Lu Yingman's phone call gave Qi Yin a greater sense of the reality of her rebirth.

This was her first confrontation with The Qi Family since she died in the zombie horde.

Upon answering the call, Lu Yingman's familiar yet strange, gentle voice came through the receiver.

"Yin Yin, are you still at the apartment? Mom misses you. Your brother and sister-in-law are back too, so come home for dinner tonight."

Although Lu Yingman had always been kind to her, looking back now, that kindness felt veiled, her gentle gaze never reaching her eyes.

Qi Yin forcibly suppressed the dull ache in her heart, her voice tinged with cold indifference.

"I won't go and disturb your family reunion. Tell Qi Mingyuan that he can forget about getting his hands on Grandmother's shares!"

With that, Qi Yin hung up the phone, not caring about the other party's reaction.

Looking at the 2.5 billion that had just arrived in her account, she pulled up the electronic contract the other party had sent on her tablet and signed her name without a moment's hesitation.

Grandmother's relatives really wanted to get Qi Mingyuan out of power quickly; this extra 500 million was the best proof of that.

The most urgent priority was to fully secure this wealth and convert it as quickly as possible into survival capital she could rely on during the Apocalypse.

Qi Yin wiped her face and walked out of the luxurious villa bedroom; the famous paintings hanging on the hallway walls and the antiques displayed there were all left to her by her grandmother before she passed away.

It was a pity that once the Apocalypse arrived, these things would become completely worthless, no different from scrap metal.

She took out another phone, took pictures of these expensive items one by one, and sent them to an account.

"Wenwen, help me sell all of these. Sell them for whatever you can get, but there is one requirement: be quick."

Lu Jinwen, an orphan adopted by her grandmother, was also her best friend in her previous life and was quite talented at appraising treasures.

After the Apocalypse began, Qi Yin had never given up on looking for her.

It was only later that she found out that right at the beginning of the Apocalypse, Lu Jinwen had been pushed out by that bastard Qi Ming to block the zombies.

It was also at that moment that she finally started to have some defensive wariness against The Qi Family.

But clearly, she had still been too much of a saint; otherwise, she wouldn't have ended up with the same fate as Wenwen.

Lu Jinwen didn't waste any words on her end, nor did she ask why Qi Yin wanted to sell these items she usually treasured so much; she simply replied with a "Good," which showed she was clearly very busy.

Immediately after, Qi Yin called Uncle Chen, her grandmother's former housekeeper, and without much explanation, asked him to liquidate the old house her grandmother used to live in and the two villas she currently had in her possession.

The person on the other end of the line was clearly taken aback by her unquestionable command and high-efficiency request. After a brief silence, the professional training he had cultivated over a lifetime compelled him to respond immediately.

"Yes, Miss, I will handle it immediately. However, liquidating real estate and these non-tradable assets might involve a discount..."

"The discount is not the issue. What's important is that it must all be processed within five days!"

Qi Yin's tone grew colder, as if she were talking about waste paper rather than hundreds of millions in family assets.

Uncle Chen had been with her grandmother since he was very young. Now 40 years old, his loyalty was unquestionable.

"Uncle Chen, after you finish handling everything, come find me at this address."

As she said this, Qi Yin sent him a location via WeChat. She wanted to keep Chen Quan—not out of being a saint, but because Chen Quan was a retired special forces soldier, and in the Apocalypse, besides supplies, martial strength was also very important.

Her weak body, not yet tempered by the Apocalypse, was in desperate need of Chen Quan's assistance.

"Understood..."

The voice on the other end of the line became more solemn and focused.

Finishing her conversation with Chen Quan, Qi Yin walked to the huge floor-to-ceiling window, overlooked the scene of false peace below, and silently composed a procurement list in her mind.

Without a moment's hesitation, Qi Yin went to the study, turned on the top-tier computer she hadn't used in a long time, and her fingers flew across the keyboard.

A rough draft of a procurement list, massive enough to drive anyone who saw it to madness, gradually took shape.

It was categorized, with clear priorities, and the quantities and units were shocking.

Her gaze was sharp, like a brilliant strategist, examining this world on the brink of destruction, calculating how to use the power of the money in her hands to arm an impenetrable safe fortress for the Apocalypse.

As she wrote, Qi Yin's fingertips paused slightly, remembering something.

That flash of a blade... that figure who rushed into the zombie horde without regard for his own life to save her...

It felt a bit familiar, but she couldn't quite recall it...

Who was he?

This man was like an unexpected variable, causing a slight, almost imperceptible deviation in Qi Yin's plan.

Qi Yin frowned slightly, then quickly relaxed her expression.

Regardless of who this person was or what his motives were, he could not become an obstacle to her fight in the Apocalypse.

If he was a friend, perhaps he could become the sharpest blade in her hand; if he was an enemy, then she would crush him.

Stopping her thoughts about that man, Qi Yin's fingertips began to dance across the keyboard again, moving so fast they almost left afterimages.

In her plan, the foundation for survival was placed first, with a planned procurement time of five days.

First was food: vacuum-packed rice, flour, grain, and oil; all kinds of canned goods; vegetables, fruits, salt, sugar, and other seasonings; and top-tier coffee beans and tea leaves were all arranged.

More importantly, water sources in the Apocalypse would be severely polluted and completely undrinkable, so pure water was something that had to be stockpiled in massive quantities.

Next were medicines and medical supplies; her space was the perfect place to store medicine, as it would never expire.

As for the second priority, it was weapons and such for self-preservation and defense, which could be done simultaneously while stockpiling basic survival supplies.

And materials to renovate her shelter had to be in place as soon as possible!

Looking at the dense list, Qi Yin felt that she was no longer just procuring items, but conducting a strategic reserve operation for the Apocalypse.

But now, relying on herself alone, it would be very difficult to get this moving in the less than 29 days remaining.

What could she do?

"Huh? Got it!"

Qi Yin thought of someone: Lu Yanxiu, the second-in-command of the Xiao Conglomerate. He was two years older than her and only 24 now.

He was also an orphan sponsored by her grandmother back in the day, had a good relationship with her, and was someone she could trust.

Checking the time, it was still early, so Qi Yin decided to go find him in person.

Catching a ride, Qi Yin looked expressionlessly at the bustling streetscape flashing past outside the window; it was hard to connect them with the desolation that would arrive in a month.

Ten minutes later, she stood at the main entrance of the Xiao Conglomerate, and the receptionist politely led her inside.

"Miss Qi, Mr. Lu is waiting for you on the 28th floor!"

Qi Yin smiled: "Thank you!"

"You're welcome!"

Before long, an elite young man dressed in a high-end tailored suit, with a meticulous expression and a handsome slicked-back hairstyle, stood before her.

"Brother Yan Xiu," Qi Yin didn't exchange pleasantries with him. She walked quickly into the office and turned the tablet screen in her hand toward Lu Yanxiu, showing him the procurement overview she had just formulated.

"Brother Yan Xiu, I want to get these supplies within the specified time. Please help me."

Since Qi Yin dared to ask, she was certain that Lu Yanxiu could do it. The Xiao Conglomerate's reach spanned the globe, and aside from the mysterious boss who had never shown their face, no one could shake Lu Yanxiu's position within the Xiao Conglomerate.

Lu Yanxiu smiled, knowing full well this younger sister's impatient nature. He took the tablet and looked at it, then couldn't help but size up Qi Yin.

"Yin Yin, what happened? What triggered this?"

5,000 tons each of rice, flour, grain, and oil? 50 tons each of every kind of vegetable and fruit? A total of 1 million standard cans of various canned goods? And what the hell is this absurd 5,000 tons of high-energy compressed biscuits? Not to mention this terrifying quantity of knives, guns, and clubs—any one of these things could send her to meet the King of Hell.

Qi Yin pushed his hand away, her eyes calm and serious.

"Brother Yan Xiu, you know what kind of person I am. Look at the quantities of these things—is this a level of joking around?"

"Grandmother is gone. The only people I can trust are you and Wenwen. Please, help me!"

Watching Qi Yin's serious expression, Lu Yanxiu grew solemn, his handsome brows knitting together into a " river" shape.

She suddenly sold her shares just to stockpile supplies?

"Yin Yin, tell me honestly, do you know something?"

Qi Yin looked out at the glittering neon lights outside the window and sighed heavily.

"There are only 29 days left. The Apocalypse is coming..."
