52: Chapter 52 Rescue Operation (Part Two)

With his hands raised slightly, lightning suddenly appeared in Xiao Sinian's palms, and several thin electric arcs shot out with undeniable energy.

At the window, several zombies trying to crawl out were instantly struck by the lightning; they fell headlong to the ground, wisps of blue smoke rising from their bodies.

Lu Jinwen covered her nose, looking very disgusted.

Jiang Yao grinned and said, "What a strong smell of roasted meat."

However, it was also the first time they had seen Xiao Sinian use his Supernatural Ability, and it was indeed as powerful as the man himself.

Tearing open a small entrance, Xiao Sinian took the lead.

"Move!"

Qi Yin gestured to the team, signaling them to follow closely behind.

At the same time, the subordinates Xiao Sinian brought along quickly scattered to clear the stray zombies on both sides.

Qi Yin followed closely behind Xiao Sinian, coordinating with his lightning and fireballs to kill targets further away.

For a moment, on the bottom three floors that hadn't been submerged yet, lightning, fire, and ice intertwined with terrifying efficiency.

The helpless wails of zombies echoed incessantly in their ears.

Jiang Yao and Wang Tianyu didn't even have much of a chance to act; they turned their heads and pulled out their Three-edged military bayonets.

Wang Tianyu pointed to the right, "Yao Zi, you take the right, I'll take the left."

"Let's do this!"

Under the cover of the others, the two were quite leisurely, stabbing through the zombies' heads one by one to dig out the white crystal cores.

But when they reached the fire exit on this floor, the situation changed.

The stairwell was packed with zombies, both above and below.

Attracted by the noise of the fight, the zombies from the floor above were swarming toward their current level.

At the submerged stairwell below, zombies were crawling up from the water one after another.

Their movements were just slightly sluggish.

Wen Yang was anxious and immediately wanted to charge up to carve out a path of blood.

Qi Yin reached out to stop him.

"Don't charge blindly; the stairs are too narrow, it's easy to get blocked in."

Xiao Sinian made a prompt decision, pointing in another direction based on the blueprints in his memory.

"That way, go through the Freight elevator shaft."

The two exchanged a glance and quickly moved the team.

Freight elevator shafts usually have maintenance ladders that lead directly to the top floor, but it was currently blocked by a heavy metal fire door.

Wen Yang and Chen Quan were stronger, "Together."

Lu Jinwen stepped forward in time, the corners of her eyes curving upward slightly.

"You guys save your strength; let me do it."

Metal was, after all, her tool.

After saying that, she pressed her hands against the cold metal door and closed her eyes to concentrate.

A few seconds later, the massive metal door rose into the air as if it were made of cotton.

"Clang!"

With a loud crash, she easily threw the heavy metal door into the corridor they had just come from, blocking the path of the approaching zombies behind them.

Wen Yang and Chen Quan took the opportunity to pull open a gap in the elevator shaft door.

The elevator shaft was pitch black, with only the faint reflection of water visible under the moonlight.

The narrow maintenance ladder stretched upward, its end out of sight.

"I'll go scout the way first."

Xu Yongning was the first to climb up, moving very fast.

Soon, his voice came from above: "I've reached the top, but something is blocking the door from the outside."

Xiao Sinian glanced at Qi Yin, already having a plan in mind.

"Go up first."

"Alright, keep your distance and follow."

The climb was very oppressive, with only the sound of breathing and the slight rattling of the metal ladder.

Qi Yin and Xiao Sinian were the first to reach Xu Yongning's position; they reached out to touch the hatch and found it was weighed down by something heavy.

Chen Quan and Wen Yang tried their best to push upward, but they couldn't move it even an inch until sweat broke out on their foreheads.

They could only shake their heads and step back.

Qi Yin released her Spiritual power; outside, dense gray spots of light were constantly moving toward a certain place, and a few green spots could be vaguely seen.

However, those green lights were very weak, appearing exceptionally desperate within the massive gray system.

"There are a huge number of zombies outside, but the survivors you're looking for can't wait much longer," Qi Yin reminded Xiao Sinian.

After all, this hospital's security system wasn't very sophisticated; it was already a miracle those people had held out until now.

"Yan Xiu, come up here."

Once Lu Yanxiu approached, Xiao Sinian signaled for everyone to step back.

A ball of pure white fire condensed in his palm; it looked extremely hot, yet it strangely emitted no heat.

Qi Yin's brows furrowed slightly as she looked at the fireball in surprise.

Mutated fire element!

Xiao Sinian carefully placed the fireball over the edge of the hatch and gave Lu Yanxiu a look.

Years of unspoken understanding meant Lu Yanxiu didn't need to ask; he summoned a crimson fireball to cover the other end.

"Sizzle!"

With a faint sound of melting metal, the hinges quickly turned red and softened.

Xiao Sinian seized the opportunity, placing his other hand over it; lightning flashed, followed by a muffled thud.

The hinges were forced open by the violent impact, revealing a faint glimmer of moonlight.

"Go!" Qi Yin flipped out of the elevator shaft.

Everyone quickly climbed to the top floor.

This was an equipment floor, relatively spacious.

The two people previously guarding the equipment had already turned into zombies; Xu Yongning moved forward quickly and, before they could be startled, threw out two Wind Blades to blow their heads off.

Seeing more 'goods,' Jiang Yao stepped forward happily, pulling out his tool and performing the task skillfully.

Lu Jinwen let out an "Eww," "Brother Yao, I've decided that from now on, I'll let you dig out my share of the crystal cores."

"No problem!"

Not far away, a series of continuous banging sounds came from behind the heavy isolation door, breaking the brief moment of silence.

Lu Jinwen sensed for a moment, "If we go out from here, there's a long corridor outside with patient rooms on both sides. The room we're looking for should be at the end of the hall."

Qi Yin and Xiao Sinian had seen the map and knew she was right.

Moreover, if they guessed correctly, the door to that room likely wouldn't hold much longer after being pounded for so long.

Behind the door were desperate survivors; outside the door were crazed zombies.

As soon as they opened the door in front of them, they would face a fierce battle.

Vaguely, it seemed the desperate cries of survivors could be heard through the door.

Their duty as soldiers made Chen Quan and the others look anxious.

"We can't wait any longer!" He pressed against the door and growled in a low voice.

"The door inside won't hold for long. We must clear the zombies as quickly as possible and fight our way through to meet them."

Ice Cones spun in his palm, already poised and ready.

Qi Yin's gaze was sharp as she scanned Xiao Sinian and her team members.

"Same as before, Xiao Sinian and I will lead the charge from the front. Uncle Chen and Lu Yan will provide support from the left and right, and Wenwen, pay attention to any movement inside the patient rooms."

"Brother Xu and Yang Zi will cover the rear. Uncle Wang and A'Yao will stay in the middle—act when you can, and make sure to protect yourselves."

"Yes!"

Xiao Sinian stood by her side, clearly following her lead entirely.

"Open the door!"

With the command, Wen Yang and Chen Quan exerted force simultaneously, prying open the rusted isolation door.

As soon as the door opened a crack, a very strong stench of rot and blood hit them.

Many of the zombies were smacking their lips; looking closely, they seemed to be chewing on something.

Lu Yanxiu and the others didn't see this often and only felt disgusted.

But Qi Yin knew they were eating human flesh!

It was even the flesh of a small child!
