199: Chapter 199 The Youyue Dynasty
Over here.
Seven days later.
Wu Li led the Crow Flock across the Dachuan Dynasty border and entered a mountain range within the territory of the Youyue Dynasty.
"Let's see if we can find a place to settle down here first."
As Wu Li finished speaking, the crows scattered and landed in the forest on the side of the mountain range.
Then, Wu Li looked around.
"The smell of blood is very strong."
As he spoke, Wu Li's gaze sharpened, and the Blood Pupil on his forehead instantly opened, scanning the nearby mountains with a scarlet light.
Corpses of the Human Race were scattered along both sides of the mountain path; some had rotted until only bones remained, while others had died recently, their Dao robes not yet fully decayed.
A few demon ghosts were crouching beside the corpses, their grayish-white, semi-transparent figures looking like human shapes formed from a thin mist, still lowering their heads to gnaw on the remains.
From the distance, screams could be heard from time to time.
Wu Li's Blood Pupil turned in that direction.
At the bottom of the valley, a team of Human Race Cultivators was being besieged by ghosts.
There were six or seven of them, and their style of dress was clearly not that of the Dachuan Dynasty. The leader was at the Foundation Establishment Late Stage, while the rest were at the Qi Refining stage.
Judging by their condition, they could no longer hold on; their sword light was growing dimmer, their Talismans were exhausted, and they all had pale faces and were covered in wounds.
The demon ghosts pounced from all directions, biting, pulling, and dragging.
A Qi Refining Disciple was dragged out of the circle, and several ghosts pounced on him simultaneously, biting his arms and legs and tearing them in four different directions.
The screams echoed in the valley, but soon ceased.
The remaining few were still resisting desperately, but anyone could see that they wouldn't last much longer.
Soon, Wu Li withdrew his gaze, and even Tiger Biao slowly stood up, looking ahead vigilantly.
"Roar~"
A low roar rumbled in Tiger Biao's throat as his yellowish-brown pupils stared at the mountain path ahead.
Wu Li's Blood Pupil also swept over.
At the corner of the mountain path, a team of the Yao Race was walking towards them.
Walking at the very front was a Pig-headed Great Demon in human form, exuding the aura of a Tier 3 Early Stage. He was draped in a tattered iron armor, revealing two thick arms, and carrying a mace in his hand, the head of which was stained with dark red blood.
Behind him followed a dozen or so lesser demons—wolves, jackals, and foxes—escorting seven or eight Human Race Cultivators.
Those Human Race Cultivators had their hands and feet bound, their robes were tattered, and they were covered in wounds; their faces were ashen, and they stumbled as they walked. Several of them still had wet blood on their bodies, clearly having been captured just a short while ago.
The Pig-headed Great Demon walked over to Wu Li's side and paused. His turbid pig eyes swept over Wu Li, then over the black feathers, and finally landed on Tiger Biao, his eyes suddenly lighting up.
"What a fine tiger demon."
The Pig-headed Great Demon grinned, revealing two rows of yellow teeth, "Just right to be given to the Horned Dragon King as a mount."
He raised his hand, Demon Power surging in his palm, forming a grayish-black giant hand of Demon Power that reached directly toward Tiger Biao.
Tiger Biao was furious and stood up abruptly, his yellow and black fur standing on end, and a tiger roar exploded from his throat.
"Roar!"
The tiger roar was like thunder; the sound wave, carrying Demon Power, rushed forward and shattered the giant hand of Demon Power on the spot. The Pig-headed Great Demon's Demon Power splashed in all directions, slamming into the tree trunks on both sides and sending bark flying.
The Pig-headed Great Demon was not surprised; he chuckled and shook his hand, which had been numbed by the impact.
"Quite a temper."
He took a deep breath and crossed his hands in front of him. Demon Power surged from his body, condensing into a grayish-black light sphere between his hands. Arcs of electricity danced on the surface of the sphere, emitting a sizzling sound.
The lesser demons behind him retreated one after another, and the captured Human Race Cultivators were dragged to the side of the road.
"Follow me obediently, and save yourself some suffering."
The Pig-headed Great Demon grinned and pushed his hands forward violently, blasting the light sphere toward Tiger Biao.
Tiger Biao dug his four claws into the ground, his Demon Power surging, and a layer of blood-colored light appeared on his yellowish-brown fur.
He opened his mouth and let out another tiger roar, but this time it wasn't just a simple sound wave; it was a tiger roar carrying all of his Half-Step Tier 3 Demon Power. The roar collided with the light sphere, exploding into a ring of shockwaves that uprooted the shrubs on both sides and sent gravel flying.
Tiger Biao took a step back, his claws plowing four deep grooves into the stone slab.
The Pig-headed Great Demon didn't budge, and the grin on his face widened.
"Half-Step Tier 3, truly potent."
He clapped his hands, "But it's still not enough."
Tiger Biao steadied his stance, the rumbling in his throat growing deeper.
He stared at the Pig-headed Great Demon, killing intent surging in his yellowish-brown pupils. His four claws dug into the stone slab, his body sank slightly, his back arched, and his fur stood on end all over his body.
Demon Power exploded from within him, yellow and black light swirling around him. His bones made cracking sounds, and his figure began to expand.
Tiger Biao's Yao body fully expanded.
His already sturdy body grew a full circle larger, his shoulder height nearly a zhang, his limbs as thick as tree trunks, and his claws, half a foot long and gleaming with cold light, extended. His tail swayed slowly behind him like an iron whip.
Blood-colored veins appeared on his yellow and black fur, extending from his back to his abdomen, like veins pulsing under the skin. His pupils contracted into vertical slits, his fangs protruded from the corners of his mouth, and saliva dripped down the tips of his teeth.
The Pig-headed Great Demon's eyes lit up.
"Good fellow, the Horned Dragon King will definitely like this size."
Tiger Biao didn't waste words; he pushed off the ground with his four claws, his body shooting toward the Pig-headed Great Demon like an arrow.
The speed was astonishing, his hundred-jin body whipping up a gale in mid-air.
He raised his right claw, fingers spread, the tips gleaming with cold light as he swiped directly toward the Pig-headed Great Demon's face.
The Pig-headed Great Demon didn't dodge. He clenched his right fist, his knuckles covered in a layer of grayish-black Demon Power, and met Tiger Biao's claw head-on.
The fist and claw collided, exploding into a ring of shockwaves.
Tiger Biao's claws left three white marks on the Pig-headed Great Demon's fist, not even breaking the skin.
The Pig-headed Great Demon's fist numbed Tiger Biao's right claw, and his entire front leg was trembling.
Tiger Biao landed, dug his four claws into the ground to steady himself, and immediately swung his left claw, swiping toward the Pig-headed Great Demon's abdomen.
The Pig-headed Great Demon sidestepped and swept his mace horizontally, the head of the mace slamming into Tiger Biao's shoulder blade.
Tiger Biao let out a muffled groan, his body knocked half a step to the side. The fur on his shoulder blade was torn open by the barbs of the mace, and blood seeped from the wound, trickling down his fur.
He gritted his teeth, turned his head, and bit down on the head of the mace, his fangs locking into the iron body of the weapon, emitting a harsh metallic screech.
The Pig-headed Great Demon pulled hard, but couldn't move it.
Tiger Biao's bite force was too great; the mace was clamped in his mouth as if it had grown into it.
The Pig-headed Great Demon's expression changed, and he smashed his left fist into Tiger Biao's head.
Tiger Biao's head was knocked to the side, and blood seeped from his mouth, but he didn't loosen his teeth; instead, he bit down even tighter.
The two demons remained deadlocked; one couldn't pull back his mace, and the other couldn't open his mouth.
The Pig-headed Great Demon's fist smashed into Tiger Biao's head one after another, causing Tiger Biao's head to sway left and right. His ear was split open, and blood trickled down from the base of his ear.
Tiger Biao's eyes were bloodshot, the killing intent in his pupils growing stronger, but his four limbs were already beginning to tremble.
