250: Chapter 250 Chaotic Battle

Three days later.

At the location of the array bases on the edge of the swamp, the pale silver light curtain had been removed, replaced by a thinner golden light barrier.

Fine runes flowed across the surface of the light barrier, slowly rotating along the contours of the array bases.

The surfaces of the ten array bases were covered with a newly applied layer of spiritual light; the cracks had been filled, and the edges reinforced with jade discs and talisman paper. Layer upon layer of spiritual light pressed down from the outside.

"That should be about right."

The three Cultivators from the Tiangong Bureau stood at the edge of the fissure.

The Gray-robed Elder squatted at the very front, the spiritual light at his fingertips extinguished, his gaze fixed upon the fissure.

The middle-aged Cultivator stood behind him, a blueprint rolled up in his hand, not yet unfurled.

The female Cultivator stood further away, her hands already lowered, the spiritual light beneath her feet retracted, her gaze sweeping across the surroundings.

Commander Su Qin stood on the outer perimeter of the array bases, looking at the fissure: "Can we enter?"

The Gray-robed Elder stood up and brushed the dust from his hands: "We can, but given our current situation, although the passage has stabilized, it can only accommodate three people at a time. Any more than that will not work."

Commander Su Qin nodded: "Then send three people in first to scout the path."

He swept his gaze over the few Moon Guards behind him, about to call out names.

"Boom!" A muffled sound came from the edge of the swamp.

The sound was not loud, but deep, like heavy objects continuously striking the ground, rapidly approaching from the distance.

Commander Su Qin's hand stopped in mid-air, and he turned his head to look in the direction the sound came from. Over there.

E Kuang's voice came from the edge of the swamp, wrapped in a layer of dark red Demon Power: "Entering to scout, did you ask us first?"

His figure emerged from the mist, his grayish-brown scales stained with dew and mud, his iron jaws half-open.

Behind him, three figures appeared from different directions; Mo Lin slid down from the low slope on the right, Shi Yuan slowly stood up from the gravel slope on the left, and Xi Sha floated out silently from the shadows.

Behind each of the three figures followed a troop of Yao Race soldiers, their formation loose, their positions staggered, blocking several major passages.

Commander Su Qin's gaze swept over the closing Yao Race soldiers, confirming their respective positions and spacing, then he withdrew his gaze and landed it on that approaching grayish-brown figure.

"You've come at just the right time."

As Commander Su Qin's voice fell, the twenty-plus Moon Guards behind him moved simultaneously.

They darted out from both sides of the array bases, landed in front of Commander Su Qin, and fanned out, their positions staggered by half a body length, spiritual power circulating beneath their robes, each hand resting on the Magical Artifact at their waists.

Leading them was a burly Moon Guard, holding a long saber with the tip pointing toward the ground. His gaze was locked onto E Kuang's direction, his breathing steady, as if using his breath to maintain a balance of force, preventing himself from revealing a flaw the moment he saw E Kuang.

The Moon Guards behind him adjusted their positions, forming a loose defensive line that blocked the frontal advance path of E Kuang's Yao Race soldiers.

Commander Su Qin stood behind the Moon Guards, his gaze passing over the defensive line and landing on E Kuang.

"E Kuang, you truly have a lot of nerve, daring to come here?"

E Kuang stood in front of the Yao Race soldier formation, his iron jaws clenching, producing a muffled sound.

"Who can do anything to me!"

His voice was not loud, but it was wrapped in dark red Demon Power, spreading out over the open ground, as if he had taken out an old saying and brushed the dust off it.

"This King did not come here to waste words with you. I will give you one chance: get lost now."

"Otherwise, you will all die."

As E Kuang spoke, the Demon Power in his throat surged, and dark red light shone through the gaps in his iron jaws, looking particularly glaring in the morning light.

The three Yao behind him each pressed forward by half a step.

Commander Su Qin stood behind the Moon Guards, his gaze sweeping between E Kuang and the three Yao.

The wind blew between the two sides, blocked at the edge of the array bases by the golden light barrier, creating a faint, rustling sound against its surface.

Commander Su Qin sneered: "Arrogant."

He raised his hand and waved it by his side. On the low slope behind the swamp, dozens of beams of spiritual light lit up simultaneously, rising from the crevices in the ground and the withered grass, the edges still bearing the marks of freshly upturned soil.

Twenty-plus Moon Guards darted out from behind the low slope, landing and rapidly deploying to form a pincer movement with the first group of Moon Guards, sandwiching the Yao Race formation in the middle.

E Kuang's gaze swept over the newly appeared Moon Guards, his iron jaws clenching.

"And how does that change anything?" He did not turn his head, his voice spreading through the morning light, "Charge! Tear them apart!"

The Yao horde moved.

Mo Lin charged out first, his tail lashing out violently behind him, his body skimming along the ground as he slid toward the left side of the Moon Guard line. Demon Power condensed at his claw tips into two dark green light blades, crisscrossing as they slashed toward the Moon Guard defensive line.

"Venom Fang Slash!"

The two dark green light blades skimmed along the ground, kicking up a layer of fine sand and soil at the point of impact, leaving two intersecting cut marks along the ground.

Shi Yuan did not rush to charge forward; he stood in place and brought his palms together: "Earth Vein Collapse!"

A wave of dark brown Demon Power exploded from his palms, spreading forward along the ground. Wherever it passed, the soil churned, gravel rose, and the ground continued to bulge, splitting open a shallow chasm in front of the Moon Guard defensive line, the clods of earth at the edges of the fissure rolling outward to reveal the moist soil layer beneath.

Xi Sha did not Move in a straight line; amidst the chaotic battle, he moved rapidly along the shadows at the edge of the Moon Guards' vision, his claws alternating between stone crevices and grass roots for leverage, carving an arc from the flank to cut into a weaker position of the Moon Guard defensive line.

He did not call out a Move, nor did he release any spell; he simply lowered his body while traversing the shadows, minimizing the gap in every movement.

"Swish, swish, swish~" Within the space of a breath, several Moon Guards perished.

The Moon Guards moved simultaneously.

The burly Moon Guard at the very front slashed horizontally with his saber, and a silver-white blade Qi flew out from the blade's edge.

"Mystic Moon Slash!"

The blade Qi collided head-on with Mo Lin's two dark green light blades, producing a dull explosion; both forces shattered simultaneously, fragments splashing to the sides.

A Moon Guard behind him formed hand seals, condensing a fire-red spiritual light in his palm: "Blazing Flame Art!"

The spiritual light flew from his palm, landing in the middle of the Yao Race soldier formation and exploding into a burst of fire; several minor Yao were sent flying by the shockwave, tumbling twice in the muddy ground before coming to a stop.

Another Moon Guard drew his sword and slashed horizontally, a cyan Sword Qi condensing on the blade. "Wind-Breaking Form!"

The Sword Qi swept horizontally along the ground, forcing back the three Yao soldiers charging from the front. The ground swept by the sword light left a narrow cut, the soil at the edges slightly raised.

A Moon Guard on the flank knelt on one knee, pressing his hands onto the blade, spiritual light flowing along the blade into the ground, and a pale blue spiritual power barrier rose from the ground: "Water Moon Wall!"

The barrier unfolded at the front of the defensive line, blocking half of Xi Sha's movement path, forcing him to detour around the edge of the barrier, lengthening his entry distance and compelling him to shift half a zhang to the right.

E Kuang stood behind the Yao Race soldier line, his iron jaws clenching, his gaze passing over the two sides currently locked in battle, landing on the golden light barrier and the fissure behind the barrier that was seeping pale white light.

Behind him, there was one last Yao soldier that had not moved, quietly guarding the gap at the rear.
