93: Chapter 93 The Miserable Blood Slaughter
Meanwhile.
Deep within Taiyue Mountain, in the nether mansion.
On the bone throne, Lord Tunming sat with his eyes closed, golden Buddhist light still coursing over his body, and Ghost Qi still steaming off him.
News of Bone Mountain's death had been relayed back; hundreds of Ghost Soldiers were completely wiped out. Of the subordinates he had sent out, only Blood Butcher remained now.
He opened his eyes, his dark green ghostly eyes filled with gloom. His voice was hoarse and low, as if he were talking to himself, or perhaps speaking to someone else.
"I truly did not expect this... A mere Yao Race from an outer mountain peak actually dares to disregard this Lord."
"Heh... Hahaha..."
He laughed.
At first it was a low chuckle, then it turned into a loud, booming laugh. The laughter echoed through the empty mansion, causing loose gravel on the stone walls to rattle down.
But there was no joy in that laughter, only anger suppressed to the extreme, and a hint of an indescribable killing intent.
The laughter stopped abruptly.
Lord Tunming leaned back against the bone throne, his dark green ghostly eyes gazing outside the mansion, toward the direction of the outer perimeter of Taiyue Mountain. His voice was as cold as shards of ice: "Go, invite the four great kings from the outer perimeter. Tell them that I, Lord Tunming, am hosting a banquet for them."
Blood Butcher knelt below, his body still bearing cracks burned by the Buddhist light. He kept his head lowered, his voice hoarse and respectful.
"Yes."
He stood up, transformed into a streak of black smoke, and vanished from the mansion.
Lord Tunming leaned back on the bone throne, closing his eyes, the golden Buddhist light still coursing over his body.
Ghost Qi steamed, and the mansion was filled with a burnt smell. Dark green ghost fire flickered in the darkness, waxing and waning, illuminating his Face half-bright and half-dark, like a corpse that had been air-dried for a thousand years.
Blood Butcher transformed into a ball of black smoke, traveling swiftly through the night wind, passing through dense forests and crossing mountain streams, heading straight for the bamboo forest on the outer perimeter of Taiyue Mountain.
Under the moonlight.
In a clearing outside the bamboo forest, four figures were gathered together.
The Rift-Wind Wolf King lay on a giant rock, his dark green eyes gleaming with a cold light in the darkness.
The Azure-Horned Deer King stood on the right side, twisting a blade of grass, his expression emotionless.
The Green-Scaled Python coiled on a withered branch at the edge of the bamboo forest, her slender eyes narrowed into slits. The Iron-Backed Bear King sat on a stone in the center, clutching a jar of wine in his arms, the flesh on his belly piled in several layers.
The Rift-Wind Wolf King spoke first, his voice hoarse and deep: "Our new neighbor has been quite rowdy lately. First that eagle, and now Lord Tunming. That little brother crow is certainly bold."
The Iron-Backed Bear King patted his belly and said in a muffled voice: "I know about this."
"It was that Feathered Eagle who lacked discretion. A great king personally making a move to deal with Brother Wu Li's race, only to have someone come looking for him and then lose? No one can say anything about that."
The Azure-Horned Deer King twisted the blade of grass, his gaze falling upon the Iron-Backed Bear King, his voice unhurried: "Calling him brother with every breath, you two are certainly close."
The Iron-Backed Bear King chuckled, patted his round belly, and said in a simple, honest tone.
"I quite like him."
"This way, I'm no longer the number one 'black' in Taiyue Mountain."
The Rift-Wind Wolf King glanced at him sideways, and the Green-Scaled Python hissed, flicking her tongue, but did not speak.
Just then.
A gust of eerie wind blew from the direction of the deep Taiyue Mountain, carrying heavy Death Qi and a smell of decay.
Blood Butcher revealed his form from the black smoke, hovering in mid-air, Ghost Qi churning around him, his body still bearing the cracks burned by the Buddhist light. The four Yao looked over in unison, their gazes landing on Blood Butcher, but no one spoke.
Blood Butcher's expression was cold, his voice sharp and chilly: "Everyone, my Lord extends an invitation. Come with me."
The four Yao exchanged glances, stunned for a moment, and then burst into laughter.
"Haha..."
"Hahahaha..."
"Hilarious..."
The Rift-Wind Wolf King narrowed his eyes, his voice hoarse and cold: "What kind of thing do you think you are?"
"We have to go just because you tell us to?"
The Azure-Horned Deer King didn't even lift his eyelids, his voice flat: "Lord Tunming has such airs. He's just a homeless wild ghost, yet he dares to order us around."
Blood Butcher's expression darkened instantly, Ghost Qi churning around his body, his voice filled with irrepressible rage.
"Audacious! You dare to disrespect my Lord!"
The Iron-Backed Bear King patted his belly and said in a simple, honest tone: "So what if we disrespect him? What can you do about it?"
"Want to fight? Just try it..."
The Iron-Backed Bear King's body was suffused with Demonic Qi, his Demon Power manifesting on the surface of his skin as he looked at Blood Butcher mockingly.
Blood Butcher's Face turned livid, Ghost Qi churning around him, the rage in his eyes almost bursting forth.
He was, at any rate, a Ghost General under Lord Tunming, with a cultivation base at the Middle Stage of the Yin Spirit Realm. In this outer perimeter of Taiyue Mountain, which member of the Yao Race wouldn't give him some Face upon seeing him?
Yet today, he was being wantonly humiliated by these four wild mountain Yao. This was intolerable.
"You seek death!"
Blood Butcher roared, reached out with both hands, and condensed Ghost Qi in his palms, transforming them into two pitch-black ghost claws. Wrapped in eerie wind, he lunged straight for the Iron-Backed Bear King.
His speed was astonishing, but the moment he made his move, a cold light flashed in the Azure-Horned Deer King's eyes, his voice as cold as shards of ice.
"How bold!"
Before the words had even faded.
The Azure-Horned Deer King acted faster than the Bear King. A flash of green Demonic Qi erupted from his body, and with a wave of his hand, a streak of cyan Demonic Qi shot out, fast as lightning, accurately striking Blood Butcher in the chest.
"Boom!!!"
"Ah!!"
The Demonic Qi was unstoppable.
Blood Butcher's body was instantly sent flying backward.
A fist-sized hole appeared where his soul body had been struck by the Demonic Qi. Gray-black Ghost Qi poured frantically from the wound, and his soul body flickered, as if it might dissipate at any moment.
The four Yao watched him coldly, none of them offering help.
The Iron-Backed Bear King patted his belly and said in a muffled voice: "Let me do it next time."
Blood Butcher struggled to crawl up, clutching the hole in his chest, his Face pale as paper, his eyes filled with fear and resentment.
"Scram. If you dare appear before us again, I will surely make you Soul Flying Away and Spirit Scattering!" the Azure-Horned Deer King said.
The four Yao held these ghost creatures, which had been transformed from the Human Race, in absolute contempt. The only thing that still made them wary was Lord Tunming.
But, this was Taiyue Mountain...
It was the territory of the Yao Race. Even if Lord Tunming's cultivation was strong, he had to endure it.
"You!"
"Still not scrambling away?!"
The Bear Yao let out another low roar, his voice carrying surging Demon Power, shaking Blood Butcher so hard he couldn't even stand steady.
"Whoosh~"
A gust of eerie wind rose.
Blood Butcher didn't dare to say anything more and finally transformed into a ball of black smoke, disappearing into the night.
After Blood Butcher left, the clearing outside the bamboo forest returned to silence.
The Rift-Wind Wolf King lay on the giant rock, his claws resting on the edge, his dark green eyes narrowed into slits, a trace of disdain hanging on the corners of his mouth.
"Trash. He really thought he was some kind of character."
The Azure-Horned Deer King also responded in a flat voice: "Lord Tunming's subordinates are all worse than the last. To have only this kind of trash left, he still dares to come out and embarrass himself."
"I'm becoming curious now. If that little brother crow kills this Blood Butcher too, I wonder if Lord Tunming will be driven to desperation."
The Wolf King laughed.
