244: Chapter 244 Bloodstained Blade Piercing the Body!
Bai Chi did not wait for him to get close; she raised her right claw, holding the bone blade between her fingers. The blade lit up with a layer of dark red light under the moonlight, as if something was surging on its surface.
With a flick of her wrist, she held the bone blade horizontally before her. The blood-colored light on the blade flowed along the edge, condensing into a thin, long line of blood at the tip: "Blood Feather Slash!"
That line of blood flew out from the tip of the blade, like a taut string being released in an instant, silently slicing toward the Wolf Demon's chest.
The Wolf Demon dodged to the side while sprinting, but the edge of the blood line still grazed his flank, leaving a shallow bloodstain on his gray-white fur. The wound was not deep, but the oozing blood beads slowly spread along the texture of the fur, appearing exceptionally clear against the gray-white background.
The Wolf Demon looked down at the wound, then raised his head. His fierce gaze lingered on Bai Chi for a moment before he lowered his center of gravity again.
"If you have guts, don't run!"
"Boom!"
His claw tips lit up again with gray-white Demon Power. He crossed his claws and slashed down toward Bai Chi. The gray-white Demon Power compressed at his claw tips into two crescent-shaped light blades, moving as fast as two broken blades flying along an arc, sealing off Bai Chi's retreat on both the left and right.
"Stupid thing."
Bai Chi did not retreat. She folded her wings, lowered her body, and met the attack with her bone blade held horizontally. The moment the blade collided with the claw blades, a layer of fine sparks burst out. The gray-white Demon Power exploded at the point of impact, pushing the gravel and fallen leaves between them outward.
She used the recoil to slide back several feet, then spread her wings again to steady herself. Her arms were slightly numb, and a dull pain radiated from the web between her thumb and index finger.
She quickly reviewed the strength and speed of those two claw strikes in her mind, and she had an idea of what to expect.
The opponent was power-oriented; his speed was not slow, but there was a half-beat gap when turning, and his right side was a blind spot.
The Wolf Demon did not pause. After landing, he pushed off with all four claws and pressed forward again, the gray-white Demon Power at his claw tips condensing once more.
He could feel that he was slightly faster than his opponent and had more strength. As long as he stayed close and didn't let her create distance, he could slowly drain her stamina.
Bai Chi did not retreat again. She stepped back half a step with her right foot and lowered her center of gravity, flipping the bone blade so the tip pointed downward, as if waiting for the opponent to get within a certain distance and let him collide with it himself.
When the Wolf Demon pounced close, Bai Chi's wings suddenly opened, and a wave of Qi exploded from around her body.
She used the wind pressure generated by her wings to push herself, sliding a step forward to the side, dodging the Wolf Demon's frontal charge. The bone blade followed the momentum in an upward diagonal slash, the edge grazing across the Wolf Demon's shoulder blade.
"Pfft!"
A gash was cut into the Wolf Demon's shoulder, and blood beads oozed out along his gray-white fur.
The Wolf Demon looked down at the wound on his shoulder, a dark light flashing in his gray-white pupils.
He shook the blood off his claws and didn't speak again. He pressed his four claws lower, his body's center of gravity lower than before, and the gravel on the ground was crushed into fine sounds beneath his claws.
"I am going to tear your wings off one by one."
The Wolf Demon's voice sounded like it was squeezed from the depths of his throat.
His speed was faster than before. Bai Chi could feel him accelerating; every pounce was more urgent than the last.
She dodged a claw strike to the side, the claw tip grazing the edge of her left wing, taking off a few feathers that drifted down in her peripheral vision.
She did not look down, merely adjusting her grip on the blade.
"Bone-Crushing Claw!"
When the Wolf Demon's claw blade swung down for the third time, Bai Chi did not dodge to the side; instead, she stepped forward half a step, bringing herself closer to that claw light.
The Wolf Demon did not expect her to fight head-on. The claw blade missed by an inch, grazing past her shoulder and creating a whistling sound as it struck empty air.
Bai Chi's bone blade had already pressed up along the arc of that deflection, the tip resting against the inside of the Wolf Demon's wrist. The force was not great, but it perfectly blocked his path to retract his strike.
"You are too impatient."
Bai Chi said.
The Wolf Demon was forced back half a step by that block, his paws sliding on the gravel before he steadied himself.
"Damn it!!!!"
The Wolf Demon was furious.
But Bai Chi did not give him time to readjust his rhythm. Seeing that the Wolf Demon's right claw had missed for the third time, his body's center of gravity shifted briefly.
"Good opportunity."
"Activate!"
"Hum!!!"
Blood light permeated the air.
Bai Chi activated the Blood Seal Pagoda.
Dark red blood light surged from her Dantian, climbing upward along her Meridians, covering the outer layer of her bones and muscles.
A layer of dark red light appeared in her pupils, and the blood light on the bone blade became thicker, extending segment by segment along the arc of the blade to the tip.
The Wolf Demon sensed the change in her aura and did not wait for her to complete the transformation, pushing both claws forward simultaneously.
"Bone-Splitting Wind-Tearing!"
Two gray-white claw blades crossed and pushed toward Bai Chi's chest.
Bai Chi did not dodge this time, slashing out to meet the incoming Demon Power.
"Blood Blade Pierces the Body!"
"Boom!"
The dark red blood light covering the blade collided with the gray-white Demon Power, emitting a dull sound. It was like a stone being pressed into deep water; it did not explode outward but was crushed inside the point of impact.
The Wolf Demon was forced back several steps by that force. The Demon Power on his right claw dissipated rapidly after the collision, and the remaining force slid between the blade edge and the claw surface, pushed to the ground on both sides by the aftermath.
Bai Chi's blade momentum was not completely reined in after the collision. She used the inertia to press forward one step, the blade tip slicing along the outer side of the Wolf Demon's right arm, leaving a neat incision extending from the elbow to the shoulder.
"Pfft!!!"
The blood light on the bone blade seeped into the wound, emitting a sizzling burning sound.
The Wolf Demon's body froze at that moment. He looked down at the bleeding wound, and when he raised his head again, Bai Chi had already stopped two steps away, the blood light on the bone blade slowly fading.
The Wolf Demon knelt on one knee, his body slightly leaning forward, as if trying hard to stabilize his center of gravity, but his arms could no longer support him.
"You..."
The Wolf Demon's voice broke in his throat; he had no strength left to push out the second half of the sentence.
Bai Chi stood two steps away, the bone blade hanging down, tip toward the ground. Confirming that he had no possibility of standing up again, she withdrew her gaze and sheathed the bone blade back at her waist.
General Qiu Ya's gaze moved from the Wolf Demon and landed on Bai Chi, his gray-brown pupils contracting slightly.
"You've got something."
His voice was not loud, but his tone was several degrees deeper than before. "But if this is the case, your provocation will cost you your life."
As his voice fell.
A surge of dark Demon Power exploded from within him, spreading along the ground toward Bai Chi, the gravel vibrating slightly where it passed.
The pressure of a Third-Order Great Demon wrapped around that Demon Power and pressed over. Bai Chi's knees buckled under that pressure, and her body tilted forward half an inch.
She gritted her teeth and did not kneel, but her shoulders had begun to tremble, and the fingers holding the bone blade were shaking, as if even the strength to raise the blade tip had been suppressed by that layer of pressure.
