71: Chapter 71 Blood Crystal

Su Wanyue took a deep breath, suppressing the irritation in her heart, and her voice turned cold.

"I don't care for the fruit."

"The things inside that Secret Realm are basically useless to me. If you are willing to help me, all the items I bring out next can be yours!"

As soon as these words were spoken.

Wu Li tilted his head with interest, a flash of keen light flickering in his blood-red pupils.

He stared at Su Wanyue for a moment, the corners of his mouth curling up slightly.

"Little thing, you've become enlightened, haven't you?"

Su Wanyue's expression grew even uglier, but she didn't refute him; she just stared fixedly at Wu Li, waiting for his answer.

Wu Li did not immediately agree, nor did he refuse.

"Greed leads to indigestion."

"I already have a Spirit Treasure now. The things in there are mostly for Human Race Cultivators, right? Armor, Magical Artifacts, Medicinal Pills... I'm from the Yao Race, what would I want with those things?"

Su Wanyue stared at him, a trace of urgency flashing in her blood-red eyes, and she interrupted Wu Li.

"North of Taiyue Mountain, there is a place called Feiliu Workshop. It's on the border between the Dachuan Dynasty and the Youyue Dynasty, a lawless zone where both Demonic Sects and spiritual Cultivators have established a marketplace."

"They don't pick and choose customers there. Humans, the Yao Race, and ghosts can all enter. As long as you have Spirit Stones or can produce something valuable, anyone can go."

"The things you bring out of the Secret Realm might be useless to you, but you can take them to Feiliu Workshop to trade for what you need. Spirit Stones, Spirit Medicine, Cultivation Techniques for the Yao Race—as long as you can pay the price, you can trade for them."

Wu Li was silent for a moment, keen light flickering in his eyes.

A marketplace.

A marketplace where humans, the Yao Race, and ghosts coexisted. This was a good place he hadn't considered. He couldn't use the things from the Secret Realm, but others could.

Taking them to trade for Spirit Stones, Spirit Medicine, and the things he needed was indeed a good path.

"Feiliu Workshop..."

Wu Li whispered the name, committing it to memory.

To be honest.

At this moment, Wu Li was truly tempted.

But he still didn't agree immediately, instead continuing to press, "Logically speaking, you are already dead. Why is the White Family of Long City so insistent on wiping you out?"

Su Wanyue folded her arms and snorted coldly.

"To silence me, obviously."

"That White Family of Long City appears to be an affiliated Family of the Xuanyi Sect, but in reality, they were planted there by the Demonic Sects."

"When I was alive, I accidentally stumbled upon their secret. They were afraid this would get out through me, so they had to make sure I died."

"Just like that?"

Wu Li tilted his head.

Su Wanyue pursed her lips, her tone carrying a hint of unwillingness: "Of course not."

"Before I died, I was unwilling to accept it, so I hid something the White Family had been collecting for the Demonic Sects."

"What thing?"

A flash of keen light passed through Wu Li's eyes.

"It seems to be called... a blood crystal."

Su Wanyue looked at Wu Li, "To put it bluntly, neither the Xuanyi Sect nor the Demonic Sects behind the White Family are good things. When I stumbled upon them, I swiped a batch and hid it somewhere in Long City."

Wu Li's eyes lit up instantly.

blood crystal—he was all too familiar with this.

He had relied on blood crystals to make the Breakthrough from the first rank to the second rank.

That stuff could not only increase cultivation but also strengthen the Divine Soul. For someone Cultivating the Blood Eye Pagoda Sutra, it was practically a tailor-made supplement.

"Where is the stuff? How much is there?"

Wu Li's voice quickened slightly.

Su Wanyue glanced at him and immediately grasped this focal point.

"Quite a lot, at least a hundred or so. Before I died, I hid the items somewhere in Long City. If you want them, we can make a trade. The conditions are exactly what I just mentioned."

"A hundred or so!!!"

Wu Li suppressed the keen light in his eyes and was silent for a moment.

"I don't like trouble!"

"I won't get involved in your revenge, nor will I leave Taiyue Mountain to kill people from the White Family. I can only promise you that if anyone from the White Family ends up at the Mass Grave, I can take action."

"Furthermore... if the opponent's cultivation is higher than mine, or even on par with mine, I will not take action."

Su Wanyue pondered for a moment upon hearing this; she knew this was likely the best outcome.

"Fine."

Su Wanyue nodded.

Seeing this, Wu Li quickly changed the subject and continued to press, "Alright, hurry up and tell me, where exactly in Long City did you hide the items?"

Seeing that he had relented, Su Wanyue did not hide it and spoke up.

"In the abandoned old residence of my maternal Family."

"That place has long been uninhabited, the courtyard overgrown with weeds. Even the neighbors don't know who the house belongs to anymore. I packed them in a Storage Pouch and buried them underground."

Wu Li committed the location to memory and nodded.

Just then.

A rustling sound came from the outskirts of the Mass Grave.

Su Wanyue's figure tensed up abruptly, her blood-red eyes staring fixedly at the direction from which the sound came. Ghostly Demonic Aura condensed in her palm, ready to strike at any moment.

Wu Li also looked over.

A moment later.

Two figures walked out of the darkness.

They weren't from the White Family. Two men wearing gray-blue yamen runner uniforms, with iron rulers hanging at their waists. One was old, one was young; the old one was in his forties, his face weathered by the elements, while the young one was in his early twenties, a trace of impatience on his face.

The two were pushing a dilapidated flatbed cart, on which lay a roll of tattered straw matting. Something was wrapped inside the matting, revealing a section of a bruised, cyan-purple arm.

"Yamen runners, here to bury a corpse."

The two pushed the cart to the edge of the Mass Grave and stopped.

The old yamen runner took out a pipe, lit it, puffed on it a couple of times, and sighed.

The young yamen runner didn't speak; he dragged the roll of straw matting off the cart, dragged it to an empty spot, and began to dig a pit.

The hoe struck the dry, hard ground again and again, emitting a dull thud.

"This child, such a hard life. Trying to avenge his sister, he was beaten to death by people from the Immortal Sect."

The old yamen runner exhaled a puff of smoke and shook his head.

The young yamen runner didn't reply, just dug the soil even harder.

The straw matting loosened as it was dragged, revealing the cyan-purple face inside.

A boy of fourteen or fifteen, so thin he was nothing but skin and bone. His face, neck, and arms were covered in bruises, and dried blood hung from the corners of his mouth. His eyes were not closed, staring hollowly at the night sky, as if looking at something, yet as if seeing nothing at all.

The old yamen runner finished his smoke, tapped the pipe against the sole of his shoe, and picked up a hoe, digging together with the young yamen runner.

The two didn't speak. Only the sound of hoes digging into the soil echoed across the deathly silent Mass Grave, again and again.

The pit was dug. The old yamen runner threw down his hoe, bent over to pick up the roll of straw matting, and gently placed it into the pit.

The young yamen runner began to fill the pit, his hoe scooping up soil and covering the straw matting, scoop by scoop.

The old yamen runner stood to the side, took off his hat, and lowered his head, muttering a few words, his voice too soft to be heard clearly.

Then he put on his hat, shouldered his hoe, and pushing the flatbed cart, he and the young yamen runner left, one after the other.

The Mass Grave returned to deathly silence.

Su Wanyue floated beside Wu Li, watching him stare unmoving at the direction of the dirt pit, a trace of doubt flashing in her eyes.

She followed Wu Li's gaze; the newly filled mound of earth still glimmered with a damp blackness under the moonlight, not even a blade of grass growing on it.

"Why are you staring at that corpse? It just died, its soul has long since dissipated, leaving nothing behind."

Su Wanyue's voice carried confusion.

Wu Li did not answer.

He spread his wings, flew up from the stone pillar, and landed in front of the dirt pit.

Then, Wu Li flapped his wings violently, Demon Power surging. An invisible wave of air shot out from the tips of his wings, sending the soil on the pit flying in all directions.
