255: Chapter 255 Monk
Taking advantage of this gap, Bai Chi did not waste time and continued running towards the side door.
But...
"Omm~"
The monk's target was Bai Chi; how could he let her go?
As an unknown technique descended, the cracks on the surface of the blood bead extended wildly under the continuous pressure of the Buddha light.
"Old Ancestor, this thing cannot hold on any longer!"
To this, Wu Li glanced sideways.
He pointed a finger out, which sank into Bai Chi's body.
In an instant, the Blood Seal Pagoda previously placed inside Bai Chi by Wu Li was instantly activated. A monstrous blood-red light appeared, directly blocking the erosion of all the Buddha light.
The golden characters spat out from the monk's mouth continued to drift towards Bai Chi, but they all vanished upon touching the blood light of the Blood Seal Pagoda.
The monk's gaze shifted away from Bai Chi and landed on Wu Li: "Benefactor, are you insistent on protecting her?"
"Whether I protect her or not is unimportant."
"What matters is, who do you think you are, daring to try and convert my person in front of me!"
As Wu Li finished speaking, he raised his right claw, palm facing up, and spread his five fingers.
Colorless Profound Light surged from his palm, starting as a thin line and rapidly spreading into a black curtain of light.
"Boom~"
The moment the black light curtain collided with the golden Buddha light, a continuous low-frequency hum erupted. The two forces pressed against each other at the point of contact, and the advancement speed of the Buddha light slowed down significantly.
The monk stopped his hands held together in prayer: "Do you think that with this layer of black light, you can block the might of my Buddha?"
Wu Li lowered his right hand, and the black light curtain held firm on the surface of the dome.
"It's already blocking it now, you idiot."
The monk took a step forward. His stone face showed no change, but the golden light in his eye sockets was much brighter than before.
"Stubborn Prodigy, this is not a place you should come to!"
His voice suddenly rose, losing its previous steadiness.
The golden characters supported by the Demon Power lit up simultaneously, their edges beginning to swell, but they did not continue to advance, as if they were being held back by something from behind.
The monk brought his hands together again and opened his lips, his voice deeper than before: "Since the benefactor insists on protecting her, then stay together."
The Buddhist scriptures were spat out from his mouth again, faster this time, and the swastika characters condensed into shape in the air, surging towards Wu Li.
"Hmph!"
Wu Li let out a cold snort. He flipped his right claw, and the great flame fire halberd sprang from his palm. The flame runes on the halberd body lit up simultaneously, and the crimson-gold firelight tore an opening in the golden Buddha light.
"Break!"
Wu Li gripped the fire halberd shaft with one hand and took a step forward. He slashed the fire halberd horizontally, and the flames on the blade condensed into a crimson-gold arc, splitting the incoming swastika characters right down the middle.
"Rumble!"
The characters shattered in the flames, turning into golden specks of light that scattered to both sides, striking the stone walls and emitting a layer of fine, fragmented echoes.
Wu Li did not pause. He flipped the fire halberd and pressed forward with a backhand strike, the tip of the halberd thrusting towards the monk's chest. The firelight condensed at the tip into a long, slender crimson-gold light cone.
"Fire Drill Heart!"
The monk did not retreat. He raised both arms simultaneously, and a layer of dark golden light rippled across the surface of his stone forearms. He crossed his arms in front of him, forcibly catching the tip of the halberd.
The halberd tip struck the intersection, emitting a dull impact sound. The crimson-gold firelight exploded at the point of impact, burning a charred mark onto the front of the monk's kasaya. The monk looked down at the charred mark.
"This fire cannot burn through a Diamond Body."
Wu Li did not reply and retracted the fire halberd.
The monk did not wait for Wu Li to steady himself; he separated his arms and slapped his left hand towards Wu Li's face: "Diamond Palm!"
The palm wind was wrapped in a layer of heavy golden Buddha light, pressing the air and making it emit a low hum.
Wu Li tilted his head to avoid it and pulled the fire halberd back, holding the shaft horizontally in front of him to block the monk's right-arm horizontal strike.
Metal collided with the stone arm, exploding in a layer of fine sparks. Both of them retreated half a step simultaneously, then pressed back in at the same time.
The monk crossed his arms again, and the dark golden light re-stacked on the surface of his forearms, the cracks slowly closing.
"You are too weak."
Wu Li did not look at the halberd body: "Is that so? Then it should be enough to kill you."
The monk did not answer. He drew an arc in front of him with his hands, and a golden ball of light condensed between his palms: "Wisdom King Seal!"
The ball of light was pushed out from the monk's palms, wrapped in a layer of dense Buddha light, and pressed towards Wu Li's front.
Wu Li blocked horizontally with the halberd. The moment the fire halberd collided with the light ball, the flame runes on the halberd dimmed by more than half, and he was forced to retreat two steps to steady his stance.
The monk followed up with a step: "This is a clean land of Buddhism; it is not a place for the Yao Race."
Wu Li steadied his stance, holding the fire halberd horizontally in front of him: "I have come. What can you do about it?"
The fire halberd and the Diamond Arm collided continuously amidst the Buddha light. Every contact exploded with a burst of firelight, pushing the surrounding Buddha light back an inch before it closed in again.
The monk's movements were not fast, but every strike was heavy. No matter which direction Wu Li's attacks came from, he could adjust his angle before the move landed, blocking every halberd strike.
The flames on the fire halberd were visibly dimmer after several collisions, and the brightness of the runes was decreasing layer by layer.
"Stubborn!"
The Buddha light within the great hall gathered towards the center during the gaps in their battle.
The monk's hands, held together in prayer, suddenly spread to both sides, and his kasaya swelled up in the Buddha light, a thicker layer of golden halo seeping from the edges.
He opened his mouth, and his voice was no longer the steady whisper from before, but carried a layer of heavy and hurried anger.
"Namo All Buddhas, all dharmas are from the beginning, always in the state of nirvana!"
Buddha light surged simultaneously from every carving in the great hall—the dome, the stone walls, the floor, the stone statues. Golden light gathered from all directions towards the top of the monk's head, condensing into a huge golden light wheel above him.
An illusory image of a Buddha appeared on the surface of the light wheel, eyes lowered, hands forming a seal. Dense scriptures surrounded its body, each scripture rotating slowly, like the pages of a book being turned. The monk raised his head, his voice deeper than before.
"Prodigy, today I will let you know that the clean land of Buddhism does not tolerate impudence!"
He pushed his palms forward, and the Buddha's illusory image pressed forward with his movement. The light wheel rotated, and the scriptures peeled off the surface of the wheel, turning into countless golden threads of light that surged towards Wu Li. Those light threads were dense and fast, interweaving into a net that was closing in.
Wu Li did not retreat. He gripped the fire halberd tightly with his right claw and thrust it into the ground, the halberd blade sinking half an inch into the stone floor.
He spread his arms, and the Blood Fiend Primal Wheel emerged behind him. A gray-red light spread from the center of the wheel to the surroundings, laying out a dark red area within the golden Buddha light.
The moment the Primal Wheel rotated, a thick, bloody stench permeated the great hall. Gray-red Evil Qi continued to surge from the surface of the wheel, forming a constantly churning airflow around Wu Li.
At the position of Wu Li's forehead, the Three-Transformation Blood Pupil opened on its own. Scarlet light shot out from the pupil, condensing into a thick beam of blood-colored light, meeting the golden net of light that was pressing down.
