196: Chapter 196 Driving away the Turkish army

After the secret meeting, General Faraj immediately ordered Major General Zaha to mobilize troops to support the northwestern battlefield of Syria. Originally, there was a plan to distribute Major General Zaha's troops to both the northwestern and Golan Heights battlefields, but now that the Anti-Judea Coalition had been formed, the Golan Heights could temporarily maintain the status quo.

The troops at the Golan Heights were perfectly capable of defense, and with the arrival of the Glass House's troops and Iran's troops, they could fully occupy a numerical advantage and have no fear of an attack from Israel.

As for the war in the northwestern region of Syria, it was indeed necessary to accelerate the pace, drive out the Turkey military as soon as possible, and completely eliminate the local armed forces supported by Turkey.

Major General Zaha quickly carried out the troop deployment, mobilizing 10 Mechanized Infantry Brigades and 3 Artillery Brigades to head to northwestern Syria. Meanwhile, 5 Mechanized Infantry Brigades and 3 Reserve Mechanized Infantry Brigades remained stationed in the northeastern region to mop up the remaining Opposition Armed Forces and prevent the fleeing Opposition Armed Forces from returning to Syria.

After resting and replenishing their logistics and ammunition, the 13 brigades, totaling seventy or eighty thousand troops, marched imposingly toward the northwestern region of Syria. Along the way, they easily recaptured the towns that had not yet been controlled, and split into two routes to thrust directly into the territory controlled by Turkey.

Colonel Urbi was naturally very happy to receive the support of 10 Mechanized Infantry Brigades and 3 Artillery Brigades. He now had 12 Mechanized Infantry Brigades under his command, plus the 10 incoming Mechanized Infantry Brigades and 3 Artillery Brigades, and the Reserve Mechanized Infantry Brigades, bringing his total troop strength to over 150,000.

With so many troops, it was completely possible to steamroll the Turkey military. After all, Turkey did not have that many troops deployed in Syria; a large portion of their forces consisted of local armed groups they supported. While they appeared numerous, their actual combat effectiveness was not strong.

Moreover, Turkey had previously suffered a heavy loss of troops at the Safira Military Base, which had weakened their combat power. Now, with the support of so many troops, Colonel Urbi had absolutely no worries.

Colonel Urbi split his troops into two routes to advance northward, while Major General Zaha's troops carried out a flanking maneuver and encirclement, striving to completely eliminate the Turkey military within Syrian territory. This would deter Turkey and ensure they would not dare to invade Syria casually again.

One route was composed of 6 Mechanized Infantry Brigades, advancing northward from Ariha to gradually clear out the local armed forces. The local armed forces had anticipated the Syrian army's offensive; after all, when they attacked the Safira Military Base previously, they knew the Syrian army would retaliate.

Now, seeing the Syrian army begin its offensive, they realized this wasn't just retaliation, but a direct attempt to wipe out the local armed forces. Seeing this, the local armed personnel could only retreat while trying to hold their ground. Because their weaponry and equipment were far inferior to those of the Syrian army, they fell at a disadvantage as soon as they engaged and had no way to hold their positions.

Idlib, as an important city controlled by the local armed forces, had hoped to hold out for several months after being surrounded by the Syrian army. However, they did not expect that after a continuous day of shelling by the self-propelled artillery battalions of the 6 Mechanized Infantry Brigades, it would collapse very quickly.

After holding out for only three days, the local armed personnel fled their positions in the face of the successive offensives by the Fierce Rhino series Tank and the Fierce Tiger series Armored Vehicle. Idlib soon fell into the hands of the Syrian army.

The 6 Mechanized Infantry Brigades responsible for attacking Harim Air Base immediately launched continuous shelling after surrounding the Turkey military base. Seeing this situation, Major General Seze felt that the end was near.

Judging from the battles taking place elsewhere, Syria had made the northwestern region the focus of its offensive. Although Turkey had many troops in Syria, they were still far from sufficient when facing the advancing Syrian army.

In previous continuous battles with the Syrian army, Harim Air Base had already exhausted more than half of its fighter jets, and the remaining ones could not provide air cover. Turkey had not sent any new fighter jets to Harim Air Base, which left Major General Seze with no confidence to hold the position.

After the Syrian army surrounded Harim Air Base, Major General Seze immediately decided to withdraw from Syria and have his troops return to Turkey. After all, if the USA could withdraw without caring about its reputation, there was absolutely no problem with him withdrawing as well. This was all to preserve the Turkey military and avoid unnecessary losses.

Major General Seze ordered the supported local armed forces to take the initiative and launch an attack on the Syrian army to distract them, while he led the troops from Harim Air Base to open a breakthrough and flee directly toward Turkey.

Upon learning that the troops at Harim Air Base had actually fled, Colonel Urbi immediately ordered a pursuit. However, due to the obstruction by the local armed forces, they could not catch up in time and only annihilated a portion of the Turkey military.

Seeing this, Colonel Urbi directly ordered his troops to wipe out the local armed forces and completely eliminate these people who fawned over Turkey. The local armed forces had originally only been able to hold their ground by relying on numerical superiority, but now, under the deluge of the Syrian army's superior weaponry and ammunition, they could no longer hold out.

As the local armed personnel could not withstand the strikes and fled, the Syrian army was able to act freely, splitting up to surround and annihilate the local armed forces. After two days of fighting, they completely recaptured Harim Air Base, returning this territory to Syria.

Major General Zaha's troops advanced along the border between Syria and Turkey, conducting a blockade and offensive, annihilating one by one the enemies in the towns controlled by Turkey or the local armed forces supported by Turkey. The battles that occurred were not large in scale, and progress was relatively smooth.

The leaders of the local armed forces saw that the Syrian army was truly serious this time and knew that the local armed forces could not hold out. Especially since the Turkey military itself had fled, they had no intention of remaining in Syria any longer. They simply packed up the money they had extorted and planned to flee to Turkey.

However, to their surprise, before they could escape to Turkey, they were surrounded and intercepted by Major General Zaha's troops. Subsequently, in the ensuing engagement between the two sides, many local armed leaders were killed, and the rest were captured as prisoners.

General Faraj was very happy to learn that the Turkey military had fled and that the local armed leaders had been captured or killed. It seemed that the battle in the northwestern region of Syria was not far from ending. After all, without the support of the Turkey military, the remaining remnants of the local armed forces had no ability to continue fighting.

Now, the only remaining enemy for Syria was Israel, and the offensive against the Golan Heights also needed to be put on the table to formulate an operation plan for attacking the Golan Heights as soon as possible.
