275: Side Story ● The Desperate Situation of the Three Kingdoms 2
At an altitude of 20,000 feet, the sunlight poured onto the clouds without obstruction, creating a tranquil world interwoven with azure blue and pure white.
However, beneath this tranquility lay a deadly murderous intent.
This was the patrol airspace for the "Sky Dragon" drones.
Several "Sky Dragon" Type II long-endurance reconnaissance and strike drones, like elegant yet deadly falcons, circled silently at high altitude.
The small precision-guided bombs and "Hunter-2" air-to-ground missiles mounted under their wings reflected a cold metallic luster in the sunlight.
The drone control team code-named "Shadow Blade-07" was not on the front lines, but in a cool, dim underground command center hundreds of kilometers to the rear.
The giant multi-functional display screen was divided into several frames, mainly showing real-time footage transmitted back from the high-definition photoelectric ball on the belly of the "Sky Dragon" drone.
In the footage was a road winding through the brown mountains, like a gray ribbon.
"Target confirmed: India's 7th Army vanguard armored column, including approximately 25 T-72M main battle tanks, over 40 BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, and accompanying fuel and ammunition truck convoys."
The controller's voice reported calmly through the internal communication system, devoid of any emotional color.
"Current coordinates: XXX East longitude, XXX North latitude. Direction of travel: Due north, expected to enter the 'Death Canyon' pre-set ambush zone in 15 minutes."
The head of the control team, a lieutenant colonel with a calm expression, stared at the dust kicked up by the convoy on the screen and pressed the communication button.
"Attention all 'Shadow Blade' formation aircraft, this is 'Nest'. Authorization to execute 'Snake Breaker' operation granted."
"Repeat, authorization granted."
"Follow the pre-planned attack sequence: prioritize striking command vehicles, air defense units, and tanks, followed by soft targets."
"Shadow Blade-01 acknowledges."
"Shadow Blade-02 acknowledges."
High in the sky, the "Sky Dragon" drones slightly adjusted their posture, and the weapon pylons under their bellies unlocked.
In the canyon, the Brigade Commander of India's 11th Armored Brigade sat in his command tank, looking somewhat agitated.
The radio was filled with various chaotic messages, and news of the front line collapsing kept coming in, shrouding the entire marching force in an uneasy atmosphere.
On both sides of the canyon were steep rock walls; the terrain was treacherous, and he instinctively felt a hint of danger.
"Order the convoy to speed up! Pass through this canyon as quickly as possible! Turn on the air defense radar, watch the low altitude..."
His order was not yet finished.
In the sky, as if it were a whisper from the Grim Reaper, the first things to descend were a few subtle, almost invisible contrails.
"What is that?"
The tank commander poked his head out, squinting his eyes and looking towards the sky.
The next second, the gates of hell swung open.
The first to be hit were the command and communication vehicle located in the middle-rear of the convoy and the accompanying "Shilka" self-propelled anti-aircraft gun.
A "Hunter-2" missile struck from a near-vertical angle, instantly blowing the command vehicle into a burning iron coffin, vaporizing the officers and communication equipment inside.
That "Shilka" didn't even have time to react before another missile precisely hit its turret, and the exploding ammunition tore it into pieces.
Immediately after, the T-72 tanks at the front of the column suffered a devastating blow.
The precision-guided bombs, as if they had eyes, landed on the weak top armor of the tanks.
Amidst the huge explosions, the turrets of one tank after another were blown off, the hulls ignited in roaring fires, and there was almost no possibility of survival for the crew inside.
"Enemy attack! From the air! Scatter! Scatter quickly!"
The surviving officers screamed into the radios, but in the chaos, orders could no longer be effectively communicated.
The BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles tried to escape the road, but the narrow canyon limited their maneuverability.
More bombs and missiles fell like hail, precisely picking off every vehicle attempting to move.
Fuel trucks were hit, triggering secondary explosions, and the sky-high fireballs and thick smoke engulfed everything around them.
"Shadow Blade-07, you are responsible for clearing out the remaining trucks and personnel."
The lieutenant colonel's voice remained calm.
On the screen, one could clearly see the surviving Indian soldiers jumping out of the burning vehicle wreckage, running around in a panic.
The "Sky Dragon" drones lowered their altitude, and the airborne machine gun pods spat out tongues of fire; the bullets, like the whip of the Grim Reaper, swept across the ground, kicking up strings of dust and blood.
In less than twenty minutes, the once mighty armored column had turned into a burning corridor of death, littered with steel wreckage and charred corpses.
Gunsmoke filled the air, almost obscuring the sky of the canyon.
"Nest, this is 'Shadow Blade-01', 'Snake Breaker' operation complete. Confirmed destruction of 21 enemy tanks, 35 infantry fighting vehicles, and over 40 various trucks."
"Personnel casualties... cannot be accurately counted, estimated at battalion scale. The enemy reinforcement route has been effectively blocked."
"Received. 'Shadow Blade' formation, return to base for resupply as planned, and prepare for the next mission."
Inside the underground command center, the controllers began to organize data and prepare the battle report.
Everything was orderly, as if what had just ended was not a bloody massacre, but an ordinary simulation exercise.
The form of warfare, under the enhancement of equipment provided by Li Yi, had undergone earth-shaking changes.
At the same time the "Death Canyon" ambush was taking place, on the southern front of Kashmir, the steel torrent of Pakistan's 1st Armored Division was rolling forward along the corridor cleared by the drones.
Major General Rashid's command-type Fierce Rhino Type III Tank led the way, its massive hull crushing over the soft ground that had been plowed over several times by artillery fire, leaving deep track marks.
Inside the vehicle, it was filled with the unique smell of a mixture of diesel, engine oil, and metal, as well as the constant reports from various battalions and companies coming over the radio.
"Attention all vehicles, this is 'Steel One'! We are about to pass through the 'Blood Line' valley. Reconnaissance units report that there are remaining enemy anti-tank fire points on the opposite bank of the valley!"
"Self-propelled artillery group, one volley, cover areas 3 through 5 on the opposite bank of the valley! 'Fierce Tiger' infantry dismount, accompany the tanks to clear the valley, move quickly!"
"Steel Two acknowledges!"
"Artillery group received, setting firing data..."
"Infantry 1st Battalion received, dismounting now!"
A moment later, a familiar whistling sound came from the sky.
The division's Fierce Lion 155mm self-propelled artillery group roared from several kilometers in the rear.
Dense artillery shells smashed onto the ridgeline on the opposite bank of the valley like hail.
Suddenly the earth shook and mountains swayed, fire soared into the sky, once again combing through every place where the enemy might be hiding with steel and flame.
