64: Chapter 64: A Scene That Left the Syrian Military High Command Speechless

Although the battle at Raqqa Military Base had not yet spread to the outside world, countries in the Persian Gulf region soon received news of it.

After all, although this air strike by the USA did not occur in a densely populated city, the continuous explosions still attracted the attention of some interested parties.

Raqqa Military Base was merely a relatively small garrison base for Iran, yet intelligence agents from several countries still kept an eye on it.

The first to receive the news was the Syrian military high command.

After all, it happened within Syrian airspace. Although the northern region of Syria was controlled by the USA and the Opposition Armed Forces it supported, there were still many intelligence agents lurking in these areas.

These intelligence agents were always ready to collect information on the USA and the Opposition Armed Forces it supported, passing it on to the Syrian military high command to stay informed of the latest movements of the USA, so as to find suitable opportunities to strike back at the USA and the Opposition Armed Forces it supported.

Most cities in Syria had experienced the miserable state of Raqqa Military Base after being bombed by F-16 Fighter Jets, so they did not have much heart to sympathize.

Subsequently, they saw a large-scale joint force from the USA mobilize, heading straight for Raqqa Military Base. At this point, the Syrian military thought Raqqa Military Base was doomed, and it was only a matter of time before it was wiped out by the USA.

However, a scene that left the Syrian military stupefied soon occurred.

The Black Hawk Helicopters and Apache Attack Helicopters of the USA flying over Raqqa Military Base were actually shot down by Raqqa Military Base. Although the exact number of shoot-downs was unknown, at least two helicopters were seen crashing.

Just when the Syrian military thought Raqqa Military Base had escaped disaster, the USA's F-16 Fighter Jets appeared over Raqqa Military Base once again.

They had expected another round of bombing; however, to the further surprise of the Syrian military, Raqqa Military Base launched anti-aircraft missiles and shot down an F-16 Fighter Jet of the USA, forcing the USA to hastily end this bombing operation.

In the end, even the massive joint force only fired missiles at Raqqa Military Base to vent their anger and, without capturing Raqqa Military Base, retreated dejectedly.

The Syrian military had been monitoring the entire development of the situation at Raqqa Military Base, but their repeated incorrect predictions left the high command feeling a bit embarrassed.

After some intelligence analysis, the Syrian military high command reached a conclusion: Raqqa Military Base possessed high-performance anti-aircraft missiles, which allowed it to shoot down the USA's helicopters and F-16 Fighter Jets time and time again.

However, the anti-aircraft missiles that the Glass House had previously transferred to Syria did not have such good combat performance.

Major General Zaha had already reported to the Syrian military high command about his use of the received Sayyad anti-aircraft missiles to ambush the USA's oil-stealing troops.

Major General Zaha had used five Sayyad anti-aircraft missiles just to shoot down one USA Black Hawk Helicopter, and in the end, he also lost five Sayyad anti-aircraft missile launch vehicles.

It could be said that there were results, but compared to the losses, these results were not very impressive.

However, the anti-aircraft missiles used by Raqqa Military Base had shot down the USA's helicopters and F-16 Fighter Jets one after another, and the number of anti-aircraft missiles fired was not dense at all.

It could be stated with certainty that the anti-aircraft missiles used by Raqqa Military Base were definitely not Sayyad anti-aircraft missiles, but a new type of anti-aircraft missile.

Seeing that Raqqa Military Base was equipped with new anti-aircraft missiles, the Syrian military high command suddenly became eager.

"Could we possibly get this new type of anti-aircraft missile from the Glass House?"

If they could obtain this new type of anti-aircraft missile, the Syrian military would at least not have to passively endure bombing when facing air strikes from the USA, left helpless while looking up at the sky.

This was no longer the time of the World War eighty years ago, when fighter jets flew at relatively low altitudes and slow speeds, making it possible to shoot them down with anti-aircraft machine guns and anti-aircraft guns.

Nowadays, without fighter jets for interception and without anti-aircraft missiles, they could basically only passively take a beating against invading USA fighter jets, with no way to resist.

The Syrian military high command hurriedly instructed Major General Zaha and other personnel who were in close contact with the Glass House leadership to inquire about the situation with the Glass House, to figure out what model of anti-aircraft missile Raqqa Military Base was using, and whether it was possible for the Syrian military to procure it.

Because Jordan was close to Syria and faced frequent air harassment from Israel, it had a relatively high sensitivity to war. Therefore, having planted intelligence agents in Syria, it also received the news shortly thereafter, though the information was not as detailed as that of the Syrian military.

The intelligence seen by the Commander-in-Chief of the Jordanian military, Lieutenant General Ham, only became relatively detailed after the USA dispatched the second batch of F-16 Fighter Jets to visit Raqqa Military Base.

The previous intelligence had only briefly mentioned that Raqqa Military Base had suffered heavy losses from the USA's air strike, that wreckage of USA helicopters had been found at the scene, and that USA troops were currently on the outskirts of Raqqa Military Base.

It seemed that the intelligence agents had only rushed to the vicinity of Raqqa Military Base after receiving the news. By the time they arrived, it was exactly when Lieutenant General Green dispatched F-16 Fighter Jets to prepare for the second round of bombing against Raqqa Military Base.

The subsequent intelligence provided a detailed description of the scene where Raqqa Military Base launched anti-aircraft missiles and shot down an F-16 Fighter Jet, even describing the characteristics of the anti-aircraft missiles launched by Raqqa Military Base. After that, it was the USA's F-16 Fighter Jets and the joint force retreating from Raqqa Military Base in a sorry state.

Seeing the characteristics of the anti-aircraft missiles described in the intelligence, Lieutenant General Ham suddenly had a very familiar feeling, as if he had just seen them himself.

He patted his head, trying hard to recall, and suddenly remembered the Tianlei Series Anti-Aircraft Missiles he had just purchased not long ago.

The anti-aircraft missiles described in the intelligence were exactly the same as the Tianlei Type III Anti-Aircraft Missile, with no difference at all.

"Could it be that the anti-aircraft missiles used by Raqqa Military Base are the Tianlei Type III Anti-Aircraft Missile?"

Lieutenant General Ham asked himself, somewhat suspiciously.

He did not dwell on it and immediately called for Major General Dula.

"Major General Dula, a battle just took place at the Glass House's Raqqa Military Base in Syria, and Raqqa Military Base may have used the Tianlei Series Anti-Aircraft Missile. Ask Mannila if the Glass House has also purchased the Tianlei Series Anti-Aircraft Missile."

Lieutenant General Ham did not waste words and directly issued the order to Major General Dula.

"Yes, Commander-in-Chief. I will contact Mannila immediately." Although Major General Dula was a bit confused, he faithfully executed the order.
