268: Chapter 368 recognizes the territorial sovereignty of the Koso region.
After two USA air wings arrived in Germany and Italy, General Philip immediately organized a new round of airstrikes against Serbia, dispatching 500 sorties of fighters and bombers at once, intending to conduct a comprehensive bombing of Serbia.
However, as the air wing pilots entered Serbian airspace, they soon discovered that a large number of anti-aircraft missiles were waiting for them. More and more anti-aircraft missiles intercepted the USA warplanes head-on, instantly putting the pilots in a dangerous situation.
Major General Molovich had long expected that the USA would not admit defeat easily. He had already deployed the Tianlei Series Anti-Aircraft Missiles and used the Tianlei Missile Defense System to monitor the intruding warplanes.
Upon discovering a large number of USA warplanes flying in from the north and west, he decisively launched a massive number of Tianlei Series Anti-Aircraft Missiles to conduct a comprehensive interception of the incoming aircraft.
Thanks to the timely interception and the fact that the USA pilots had become timid, not a single warplane was able to penetrate deep into Serbian territory. Only a few border cities were bombed, and the extent of the damage remained controllable.
Seeing that more than half of the dispatched warplanes were lost, General Philip, in a fit of rage, directly ordered the officers and soldiers at the USA military bases stationed in two countries to the east of Serbia to mobilize immediately and launch a ground offensive against Serbia.
Since the available forces were insufficient, Major General Molovich detected the movement of the USA troops as soon as they began their offensive against Serbia. The Mechanized Infantry Divisions and Mechanized Combined Arms Brigades deployed at the border mobilized in time and ambushed the USA forces.
Even though the USA troops fought back desperately, they were at a numerical disadvantage. Coupled with the fact that the Serbian military's strength was no longer what it used to be, more than half of them were quickly annihilated, with only a few managing to escape. Serbia also captured a significant number of USA prisoners.
After the troops mobilized by the USA from Italy and the City-State Country entered the Koso Region, they were still unable to stop the Serbian military's offensive. In the Peć area, Serbia launched a comprehensive assault on the USA and European forces trapped within the encirclement.
Originally, the troop numbers were small, with only over 3,000 people. In contrast, the Serbian forces launched an attack with over tens of thousands of troops. Under the comprehensive assault, half of the USA forces in the Peć area were quickly wiped out, leaving the remaining officers and soldiers with only one path: surrender.
Even the reinforcement troops mobilized later failed to break through the temporary defensive positions established by Serbia, and they eventually had to flee back in disgrace.
General Philip's offensive against Serbia this time could be considered a total failure. After securing victories on multiple battlefields, Major General Molovich had no intention of letting the USA off the hook.
After determining the locations of the USA military bases, Major General Molovich dispatched 500 sorties of Tianlong Series UAVs to conduct airstrikes or kamikaze attacks on USA bases in Italy, the City-State Country, and Germany, instantly dealing a blow to these military installations.
Some military bases with more anti-aircraft weapons managed to barely defend themselves against the bombing, though they still lost a significant amount of weaponry and equipment. Other military bases without such strong anti-aircraft capabilities could only accept their fate of being bombed by Serbia.
The USA European Theater Command was extremely shocked that Serbia dared to bomb its military bases. Previously, it was always the USA bombing Serbia with no room for Serbian resistance; now the situation was reversed, which naturally left them stunned.
However, all successive battles to attack Serbia had failed. To truly invade Serbia, they would need to assemble at least 300,000 troops, along with a large number of warplanes and tanks. Yet, the USA had lost too much weaponry and equipment in the past year or two and simply lacked the capacity to commit to a new war.
Seeing its military bases under attack, the United States Department of Defense ultimately did not declare war on Serbia. They could only silently swallow the bitter pill and focus all efforts on defense.
Major General Molovich had no intention of letting the USA go. After deploying the Tianlong Series UAVs, another large batch of Tianlei Type 5 and later models of anti-aircraft missiles were launched at the USA military bases, instantly depleting more than half of the USA's anti-aircraft weaponry.
Subsequently, Major General Molovich continuously dispatched Tianlong Series UAVs to carry out further bombings, forcing the USA into non-stop anti-aircraft operations. Even with some losses, it was acceptable for Serbia.
Seeing Serbia continuously bombing its military bases, the USA had no choice but to opt for peace negotiations. After a series of talks, the two sides reached an agreement.
The USA and European countries recognized Serbia's territorial sovereignty over the Koso Region and would no longer interfere in any of its affairs. All troops and personnel originally stationed in the Koso Region were to be withdrawn, and no personnel were to be sent into the Koso Region without permission.
Given the fact that the USA had bombed Serbia, the USA had to compensate Serbia with 20 billion USD to cover the losses suffered. This amount of compensation hardly made up for much for Serbia, but there was no way to secure more funds.
The USA promised not to launch any further military actions against Serbia, to withdraw some military bases deployed around Serbia, to lift various sanctions against Serbia, and to refrain from sending personnel to incite coups or other illegal activities in Serbia.
After the negotiations concluded, Major General Molovich immediately conducted a major purge in the Koso Region, arresting a group of opposition members and holding public trials. At the same time, he dispatched troops to forcefully suppress those attempting to incite riots and directly deported many individuals to prevent them from continuing to cause trouble in the Koso Region.
After this war, Serbia finally no longer had to worry about the USA's deterrence and entered a long period of peace.
Following the USA's defeat in the war against Serbia, European countries began to see the USA's decline. France, Spain, and others all demanded the withdrawal of USA troops to prevent further illegal acts and harassment of local citizens by USA servicemen.
After multiple negotiations with these countries, the USA failed to gain the upper hand and eventually had to withdraw its troops in disgrace, concentrating its main forces in the United Kingdom and Italy. Although Germany also requested that the USA withdraw from its military bases, it did not manage to make the USA yield, as they only agreed to withdraw a portion of their forces.
Naturally, the USA's plan to obtain military funding from these countries was also significantly compromised. Ultimately, the annual military funding they received was less than half of what it used to be, further squeezing the USA's military expenditures.
The USA not only lost a massive amount of weaponry and equipment but also lost a lot of military funding, leading to a sharp decline in its influence in Europe. European countries no longer blindly followed the USA in many affairs and even began to oppose it head-on, making things even more difficult for the USA.
