265: Soul penetration enhancement

The Xuanhuan World, as it has developed, has actually seen very little official intervention.

This is almost unbelievable for a phenomenon-level vr game.

In fact, many people in the higher echelons had wanted to interfere much earlier, but they were all rebuffed.

Those in power felt that the Xuanhuan World's worldview was too grand, and perhaps only Jiang Feng could manage it effectively; others' interference would only harm the game.

And today, Zhou Mingcheng's arrival finally brought forth an official request:

"Previously, the Xuanhuan World had Prodigy Protagonists, at least that's what you stated in the official update patches.

"Although players rarely paid attention to this, even thinking that the so-called Prodigy Protagonists referred to themselves.

"But we speculate, that Yan Xiao, he should be a Prodigy Protagonist, right?"

Jiang Feng nodded: "That's right, he is indeed a Prodigy Protagonist. He is favored by the Heavenly Dao and possesses astonishing Luck. His cultivation speed will be very fast, and he will very likely turn misfortune into blessing every time he encounters a crisis."

Zhou Mingcheng said: "The Prodigy Protagonist is actually the breaking point you designed for the players, isn't he?"

Jiang Feng nodded, agreeing.

Previously, players were too enthusiastic about playing as Evil Cultivators, so he created Yan Xiao.

Later, Yan Xiao did indeed clear out the Evil Cultivators and Buddhist Cultivator. Now, the Immortal Dynasty's demeanor is completely different from before, and new players are much safer.

Zhou Mingcheng said: "One protagonist isn't enough; would it be possible to add more protagonists?"

Jiang Feng smiled bitterly:

"Actually, from the beginning, I wanted to add more protagonists. I have many protagonist templates here; any one of them could astound players.

"But later I thought about it, what players want is to immerse themselves in the Xuanhuan World and play, not to be a camera."

Zhou Mingcheng sighed: "So, it's not possible?"

The official intention was to stir up the society of the Xuanhuan World by adding more protagonists.

This would allow some players to see the light, and through the contrast of light and darkness, continuously change the Xuanhuan World.

In this process of continuous change, players would also receive a kind of education, and their curses against social pressure and dissatisfaction with the higher echelons would be much smaller.

To put it plainly, the official attitude towards the game was somewhat subtle, always wanting to educate players about something within the game.

But they also had the self-awareness to know that excessive interference in the game would be counterproductive, so they didn't force Jiang Feng to change.

Jiang Feng thought for a moment and said:

"Actually, there's another option, which I originally intended to implement."

Zhou Mingcheng's eyes lit up: "What?"

Jiang Feng smiled:

"Currently, the Golden Finger I designed for players requires reincarnation points to be used, meaning the stronger one was in the previous life, the easier the start of the next life will be.

"Under normal development, restarting would allow one to quickly reach the Realm of the previous life using the Golden Finger, and then surpass it.

"But previously, due to the rampant Evil Cultivators and Buddhist Cultivator, many restarting players unfortunately died tragically, wasting their accumulated progress.

"For example, the former number one player, Midnight Gao Sou, his situation was truly miserable.

"And now, it's the Human-Demon War, forcing many players to the front lines to fight, and the death rate remains high.

"If this continues, it will be difficult for players' Realms to surpass those of native Cultivators; they will be stuck at the Golden Core Realm.

"So, in addition to the Golden Finger, I plan to strengthen Soul Transmigration."

Initially, Soul Transmigration had an advantage.

But as players discovered that Soul Transmigration identities usually had extremely low Aptitude, making it impossible to cultivate to high Realms, or that high Realms came with a huge pitfall, everyone stopped using Soul Transmigration and almost all started with Body Transmigration.

What Jiang Feng is now going to adjust is to strengthen the Soul Transmigration gameplay.

Zhou Mingcheng asked curiously: "How will it be strengthened?"

Jiang Feng replied:

"Currently, the Xuanhuan World does not allow Soul Transmigration into Outstanding Talents or Prodigies, and anything above the Golden Core Realm is directly outside the scope of Soul Transmigration.

"This point will be changed next.

"Of course, Nascent Soul and above still cannot be Soul Transmigrated; this will not change.

"What will change are Outstanding Talents and Prodigies.

"We will open up some special identities for Soul Transmigration.

"These identities might already be Outstanding Talents, or they might be Prodigies on the verge of rising.

"Their talents are extraordinary, and they each have their own fortuitous Opportunities, even receiving the favor of the Heavenly Dao. Of course, the Heavenly Dao System hasn't been opened yet, so this point is meaningless for now.

"In short, they are stronger than ordinary Body Transmigration identities, each somewhat similar to Yan Xiao.

"And on this basis, they will also be more easily targeted by native Cultivators. Native Cultivators will often attack them indiscriminately, and even those steady old monsters will lose control and act against them. This is called the 'Intelligence-Lowering Halo'.

"At the same time, when Soul Transmigrating, the starting identity might already be in some desperate situation, and players must take active action to solve the problem and continue playing smoothly. This is called 'Crisis Start'."

Zhou Mingcheng's eyes gleamed as he listened: "A sharp sword comes from grinding, and plum blossoms smell fragrant from bitter cold. After these players suffer endless pain and torment, they will certainly have a profound understanding of the darkness of the Xuanhuan World. They are bound to be the pioneers who bring light... Boss Jiang, when will this version update be released?"

"This change isn't major; it's just adding some Soul Transmigration backgrounds. It doesn't need to wait for the third season; a small patch update will suffice."

...Midnight Gao Sou has been somewhat desperate recently.

Ever since he achieved the Golden Core Realm and was then killed, he has died many times in a row, and his Golden Finger is completely exhausted.

Various sponsorships were canceled one after another, and his live stream popularity plummeted. If he hadn't scammed a lot of Medicinal Pill money before achieving the Golden Core, he might already be a pauper.

He even saw a psychiatrist.

Now he returned to the VR pod, back to the familiar character selection interface.

Soul Transmigration

Midnight Gao Sou suddenly thought of his choice when he first started playing; at that time, he chose Soul Transmigration and directly landed in the body of a Foundation Establishment Elder, which became the beginning of his fortune.

What if I use Soul Transmigration to get reincarnation points now?

Thinking of this, Midnight Gao Sou couldn't help but look at Soul Transmigration.

He then noticed that the description for Soul Transmigration had changed.

Random Soul Transmigration, unable to view results in advance

He was sure that previous Soul Transmigration allowed one to view the identity in advance.

He checked the forums and indeed, others had also discovered the anomaly.

It turned out that the Xuanhuan World had updated and made changes to Soul Transmigration, but no one knew if it was a good change or a bad one.

"Forget it, I'll still play it safe and not gamble."

Midnight Gao Sou hesitated for a long time but still didn't dare to choose Soul Transmigration, opting for Body Transmigration instead... In a dilapidated small rental house.

Piles of compressed food wrappers formed small mountains.

Ning Xiao hadn't eaten normal food for three years.

Millions in debt weighed heavily on his mind and body, and every day he had to work intensely as a delivery driver.

Recently, he finally didn't have to deliver food anymore.

Smart robots had replaced him.

Looking at the remaining million-plus in debt, Ning Xiao was almost in despair.

Delivery drivers were not official employees, so they couldn't get compensation for being replaced by robots.

He lay in the VR pod, wanting to numb himself with the game and escape this painful reality.

"Hahaha, if I had been born a rich second generation, how would I be like this now?

"Soul Transmigration! I want to Soul Transmigrate!"
