401: Opportunities and Risks

Following Wang Long's discovery of the remains of a Third-Rank Expert, Wen Xinghai found a damaged Fourth Grade Magic Treasure.

Numerous players also continuously discovered good things in this Ancient Battlefield:

An ancient sword whose blade was damaged but whose hilt, made of Fourth Grade Materials, was still perfectly preserved.

An underground lake possibly formed by the blood of a Third Grade Great Yao.

Legacy Jade Slips sealed and driven deep underground, which, besides the basic Fifth Grade Legacy, also recorded the location of the subsequent Legacy in the Great Void.

And... one Treasure after another was sought out by the players.

Rather than seeking, it was more like picking up "junk."

There was simply too much "junk" in this Ancient Battlefield.

Fifth Grade Treasures, rarely seen on normal days, emerged endlessly here.

Even Fourth Grade Treasures were easily obtained.

If their luck was a bit better, they could even directly run into a major Third Grade Treasure.

Although most were defective products, their actual grade had to be discounted.

But no matter how much they were discounted, they were much stronger than ordinary Fifth Grade items, and they were acquired extremely easily, without spending any effort at all.

"This isn't an Ancient Battlefield, it's clearly a 'Zero Yuan Shopping' venue!"

A Golden Core Players issued a heartfelt sigh of emotion.

Furthermore, it wasn't just Golden Core Players; Foundation Establishment Players who made it here also gained many benefits.

Many Foundation Establishment Players, fearing they couldn't carry the Treasures out or thinking they wouldn't need them anytime soon, even immediately listed them for auction at the Trading House.

This instantly attracted players who had not participated in the East Sea Exploration.

Many players actively discussed this matter:

[Holy crap, is the East Sea that rich?]

[What do you mean Fifth Grade Treasures are within easy reach?]

[You're outdated. It's more than just Fifth Grade; someone just listed Third Grade jade bone for auction.]

[Goodness, why are there so many Third Grade jade bones in this place?]

While the players were excited, a Research Faction Player stood up and spoke out:

[Don't be too greedy. The presence of so many Third Grade jade bones means this place really is an Ancient Battlefield, and there was likely an intense battle between multiple Third-Rank Experts here previously.]

[Do you still remember Mingshui Heaven? A Fourth Grade Nascent Soul could leave behind Sword Intent that deterred latecomers after a long time. Do these Third-Rank Experts have no methods?]

[If they casually left behind some Formation or some Sword Intent, I think none of the Golden Core Playerss here will be able to escape.]

[You should leave when you've had enough greed, otherwise, it will be hilarious if you are all wiped out here.]

The viewpoint of the Research Faction Player was undoubtedly correct.

The Ancient Battlefield certainly had many Treasures that could allow latecomers to strike it rich.

But likewise, the danger level of the Ancient Battlefield far exceeded that of other Secret Realms.

Traces left by the battles of former Experts might still persist, and even a slight residual wave could claim the life of a Golden Core.

Furthermore, some Magic Treasures might have had means planted on them by enemies, becoming formidable hidden dangers.

The most terrifying thing was, if the Treasures collected by the players contained someone else's means of Resurrection or Rebirth, it would be impossible to deal with.

However, these risks and hidden dangers were utterly insignificant in the face of the immense temptation of the Treasures.

The players were practically blinded by the Treasures of the Ancient Battlefield and simply couldn't bear to leave.

They didn't know how much time had passed, nor how far they had delved.

When Wen Xinghai suddenly looked up toward the west, he realized he couldn't see the sea anymore.

"Damn it, how did we go in this deep..."

Wen Xinghai gave a wry smile.

As players, they could undergo Rebirth after death, and the Treasures they obtained could be quickly transferred through the trading system.

This gave them the courage to explore deep into the Ancient Battlefield, completely unafraid of death.

Even Wen Xinghai, who was the Commander, subconsciously ignored all risks and focused only on collecting Treasures.

It was interesting to note that players would normally easily fight over Treasures, but there were simply too many Treasures in the Ancient Battlefield, so no one was willing to waste time fighting over them.

This made the players even more obsessed with acquiring Treasures.

"We cannot continue further."

Wen Xinghai calculated the time and felt that the players should have searched enough.

Moreover, this distance was too dangerous; they could easily be surrounded by the Dragon Descendants leading the Yao Beasts, resulting in total annihilation.

He sent a message to all players, stating they needed to assemble in an orderly fashion and prepare to evacuate.

The mere intelligence that there was an Ancient Battlefield in the Deep Sea was enough for this exploration mission to conclude in Perfection.

However, the players replied one after another:

[Don't go, I just saw another skeleton. This one seems to belong to a Human Race Expert. The jade bone is incredibly lustrous; their Dao Cultivation must have been very high when they were alive.]

[I think even if we all die here, the profit gained is enough to compensate for the loss of Resurrection.]

[Exactly, exactly! Why worry about total annihilation? Just resurrect if you die. The Treasures here are rare!]

[Those who want to retreat can retreat on their own. I'm going to continue searching here anyway.]

Looking at the replies, Wen Xinghai didn't know what to say.

It was impossible to expect players to strictly obey orders.

But he thought about it again, and indeed, just as the players said, even if everyone died here, the sheer gains would be enough to compensate for the transaction points consumed by Resurrection.

At this moment, Wen Xinghai received contact from Ye Chun:

[Xinghai, if we can't achieve Unified Coordination this time, the next time will be the same.

[The transaction points required for everyone to Resurrect with Full Cultivation this time are few, and the losses can still be compensated.

[But what about afterward?

[You shouldn't be hoping the East Sea Exploration ends after just one attempt, right?]

Wen Xinghai pondered for a moment and finally made a decision, continuing to send messages to everyone, demanding evacuation.

Just as Ye Chun said, the East Sea Exploration was definitely not a one-time affair.

There would still be many secrets, many Opportunities, and many risks deep within the Ancient Battlefield.

The number of deaths in the future would only be higher than this time, and players should not waste the precious chance for cheap Resurrection.

They should retreat immediately now, make more preparations, recruit more powerful Golden Core Playerss, and continue delving into the Ancient Battlefield to ensure the survival rate.

However, even though Wen Xinghai and a few other players made the correct decision.

The majority of players were still attracted by the immediate benefits.

They continued to delve deeper and move forward.

After Wen Xinghai issued seven consecutive evacuation orders.

The variable finally appeared.

A sharp sword edge suddenly rose in the east, instantly forming an overwhelming Aura. Although intangible, its might caused everyone to visualize a Human Race Expert brandishing a sword.

[Damn it! Damn it! I just found a Broken Sword, but I didn't realize the Sword Intent on it hadn't dissipated, and I accidentally activated it!]

The one who activated the Sword Intent was a Golden Core Players, a Rogue Cultivator, whose Combat Power was decent, but he had no resistance against the Sword Intent, was instantly sliced in half, and went straight to a black screen waiting for Resurrection.

Next was the second Golden Core Players, about dozens of miles behind the first one. Before the first one could even send a message, he was immediately sliced apart by the Sword Intent, also going to a black screen waiting for Resurrection.

The third one was further away, separated by about a hundred miles. As soon as he saw the message sent by the first one, he was immediately sliced in half.

Next was the fourth Golden Core Players.

He, however, was prepared. He revealed a Fifth Grade Magic Treasure, a Shield, which was heavy and powerful, blocking him completely.

Then, the Sword Intent sliced both the Shield and him in half simultaneously.

It then continued to rush westward, unstoppable.
