414: The northernmost point

Li Changfeng felt slightly stunned, then burst into laughter:

"I fear your knowledge is insufficient. You have never crossed the vast ocean, traversed the poles, or circled the Equator. You are merely seeing the tip of the iceberg, believing the sky is round and the earth is square, aren't you?"

On Blue Star's history, the belief that the sky was round and the earth was square also persisted for a long time, but as various evidence emerged, the planetary understanding completely replaced the outdated flat-earth view.

Li Changfeng had previously tried ascending, but because there was an invisible barrier after a certain distance upward, he couldn't escape the atmosphere, making it impossible to rise high enough to see the planet.

The curvature of the land itself was extremely subtle, making it impossible to discern whether it was caused by the shape of a planet or by local terrain differences.

What he could confirm was that the Prison Land was definitely a planet much larger than Blue Star.

The Toad Demon, however, looked at him with the gaze reserved for an idiot:

"You think that because the stars outside the Prison Land are brilliant, and the Immortal Realm is a great star, the Prison Land must also be a star?

"Too naive!"

Other Yao Race members, large and small, stood beside the Toad Demon, their mouths curled in mockery.

An Eagle Demon circled down and landed, looking at Li Changfeng as it spoke:

"Don't forget, the Prison Land is where the big shots of the Immortal Realm—which is the Burial Emperor Star—imprison the failures.

"Do you really think they would just casually pick the nearest star and throw in those 'failures' who are feared, dreaded, and cannot be instantly eliminated?"

The Legacy of the Demon Race Outside the Wall is older and more continuous than that of the Four Kingdoms of the Immortal Dynasty, so they know many Secret Histories.

Or rather, what the Four Kingdoms of the Immortal Dynasty consider secret history is actually common knowledge in other parts of the Cultivation World.

It's hard to say for low-rank Cultivators, but anyone who cultivates to the Fifth-Rank definitely knows the name Prison Land, and knows that the so-called Immortal Realm is merely the Burial Emperor Star.

At the same time, they would also know the origin of the Prison Land.

It was a lower Plane forcibly created by great figures in the past. Although it was placed on a Satellite Star of the Burial Emperor Star for certain reasons, it remains a lower Plane.

Here, the sky is round and the earth is square. The connecting passage to the Burial Emperor Star is not a vacuum, but a barrier between Planes, which is why one must rely on the immortal path to leave.

Li Changfeng was dumbfounded, instinctively refusing to believe it.

What did they mean by great figures creating a lower Plane?

He was knowledgeable and knew that Fourth-Rank Cultivators could cross the Great Void, and with further progress, could construct a Cave Heaven.

But whether it was Green Emerald Heaven or Mingshui Heaven, their scale was indeed vast, even exceeding a Province on Blue Star.

However, compared to a planet, or being called a “Plane,” they were still far too small.

Who could possibly create a Plane capable of housing numerous Cave Heavens?

Could such Powerhouses truly exist?

Li Changfeng did not believe it.

So he suggested going to see the end of the world.

"Aren't you going to Sacred Emperor Mountain first? Wasn't your purpose for coming here the Sacred Emperor Mountain Legacy?"

The Toad Demon asked curiously, "With Wan Lin having already accepted a Legacy, we are also very curious whether a Fifth-Rank Cultivator like you can accept a superior Legacy."

Li Changfeng looked north: "Compared to Sacred Emperor Mountain, I am more curious about the end of the world right now. Take me to see it."

Several Great Demons led Li Changfeng northward together.

The further north they went, the lower the temperature dropped. Gradually, even grass disappeared, leaving only Permafrost, which then turned into glaciers.

Li Changfeng wanted to say that this was a Forbidden Zone of Life, where all life had vanished.

But just as he had that thought, a gigantic Worm that emerged from the ice layer almost swallowed him whole.

"Be careful, there are many terrifying Yao Beasts here."

The Eagle Demon used its claws to guide Li Changfeng in dodging and explained the ecological situation here.

Simply put, throughout the long history of the Prison Land, there have been many Powerhouses who cultivated to the extreme, exploring the mysteries of the world and attempting to find the immortal path.

In the end, they could only despairingly realize that they could not transcend the Prison Land and were doomed to die within the end of the world.

Some of these Powerhouses returned to their homeland, some Passed Away in their Cave Heavens, but quite a few remained at the end of the world.

Some spread the Dao, leaving behind Legacies locally, and even giving rise to some Major Powers as a result.

Others simply Passed Away alone, their cultivation base dissipating into the Heaven and Earth, making the Spiritual Vitality at the end of the world dense, attracting countless Human Race and Yao Race members to flock there.

Thus, under the erosion of time, different ends of the world took on different appearances.

The end known to the Demon Race Outside the Wall, located in the north of the entire Prison Land and surrounded by Ice Plains, is thus called 'Frost Heaven Extreme'.

In the distant past, a High-level Cultivator Passed Away at Frost Heaven Extreme, bringing dense Spiritual Vitality, which led to the birth of a brilliant Yao Race Civilization.

It is said that the Yao Race Legacy of the Sage Emperor Lineage originated from this.

However, Frost Heaven Extreme is considered relatively remote among the ends of the world in the Prison Land. Not many High-level Cultivators Passed Away here, and ultimately, it returned to desolation.

Only the various Yao Beasts that were once attracted here remained and multiplied. After a long time, they evolved into terrifying creatures that even the Demon Race Outside the Wall found troublesome.

The only fortunate thing is that the increasingly depleted Spiritual Vitality here limits the strength of these Yao Beasts, and their Spiritual Intelligence is difficult to awaken, making their threat limited.

"Life will find a way, even if it's a dead end."

Li Changfeng swept his gaze over the many Worm-like Creatures on the Ice Plain, filled with emotion.

These creatures might have had their own forms previously, but ultimately, in order to find vitality, they had to evolve into the shape of worms. This was so they could burrow deep beneath the ice layer and plunder as much Spiritual Vitality as possible left behind by the High-level Cultivators who Passed Away.

However, this evolution caused them to almost lose the ability to absorb Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi. Once the Spiritual Vitality beneath the Ice Plain completely vanished, they would likely continuously degenerate from their Yao Beast form.

Eventually, these creatures near Frost Heaven Extreme will completely disappear.

Li Changfeng thought that this was likely what the Demon Race Outside the Wall was worried about, which is why they were willing to cooperate with the Players, wanting to leave the increasingly depleted north.

"This is Frost Heaven Extreme?"

Li Changfeng gazed north, finally seeing the end.

"Seeing the end of the world"—

—that phrase felt somewhat bizarre.

On Blue Star, the so-called end of the world was usually just a gimmick.

Ancient humans, from the perspective of the land, viewed the land as the world and the coastline as the end, naively believing there was nothing beyond the sea.

Modern humans, however, discovered that the world was interconnected, and no end could be found.

Yet here, at Frost Heaven Extreme, Li Changfeng truly saw the end.

The endless Ice Plain stretched north, then abruptly, and in a manner difficult to describe, contracted into a Tiny Point.

The icy, crystal-clear Tiny Point silently floated in the air, surrounded by a White Haze.

This White Haze was not the white fog of the Great Flood Dragon, and it did not obstruct Spiritual Sense detection, allowing Li Changfeng to discover that there was nothing beyond the haze.

There was only a patch of White Haze about ten meters across, and behind that, there was nothing at all.

It resembled a High Wall blocking all paths forward, or the darkness that swallows everything, or perhaps an empty valley returned to silence.

It was difficult to describe in words, but the instant his Spiritual Sense was deployed, Li Changfeng knew: this was the end.

The Eagle Demon landed beside him and spoke:

"The so-called end is not a geographical concept.

"It is not an impassable region, nor a High Wall blocking one's path.

"Rather, it is decreed by the Golden Words of a great figure: This is the end.

"And thus, the end exists.

"It can be anything—it can be a wall in your eyes, a Chasm you perceive as insurmountable, or a deep darkness. What different people see is not the same.

"But without exception, no one can start from this place and find somewhere else.

"This is the end of the world, the Terminus of the road."
