118: Chapter 118 Sealing Magic
Hearing Isolde's words, the God of War struggled for a moment, but ultimately chose to agree.
"Fine, wait here. I will go and retrieve the treasures I have treasured for a long time. I hope you will keep your promise."
After saying this, the God of War took one last deep look at Isolde and Byron before his body transformed into a ray of light and dove into the stone statue.
Seeing this, Byron used Mental Energy to transmit his voice to Isolde, asking:
"Mentor, are you not worried about letting him leave so easily? Aren't you concerned that he might be stalling for time to find an opportunity to escape?"
Isolde's expression remained unchanged as she transmitted back: "Not bad, you have some vigilance. Remember, no matter what you encounter in the future or when conducting experiments, you must always maintain a degree of doubt and vigilance. This will benefit you in the future."
Having said this, Isolde paused for a moment before continuing:
"However, you can set your mind at ease regarding the problem you are worried about right now. I am not as foolish as this god; I would never face an enemy without laying down any countermeasures, nor would I pin all my hopes on the enemy."
"Therefore, you can rest assured. After all, I have a share of the benefits in this, and I certainly won't let something I've already secured slip away right in front of me."
Hearing this, Byron also felt relieved and praised her with a smile: "As expected of my Mentor, your considerations are so thorough!"
Isolde: "Alright, stop buttering me up. Even if you do, your share will remain exactly as it is; I won't give you even a bit more."
Byron's expression remained unchanged, but he grumbled in his heart that although she claimed not to like being flattered, her tone didn't sound like it at all.
However, after hearing Isolde's words, Byron didn't say anything more.
Because at that moment, the God of War reappeared in mid-air, carrying several items.
The God of War glanced at Isolde and Byron, then looked at the items he had brought out, a flash of heartache appearing in his eyes.
In the end, he gritted his teeth, waved his hand, and presented those items before Isolde.
"Great existence, these are the items I have collected from various worlds over these years. Now they are all yours; I hope you will keep your promise."
After casting an interested glance at the items, Isolde pushed them all toward Byron, telling him to put them away.
Byron understood Isolde's intention; she was currently existing only in the form of a Mental Energy body and could not take the items with her.
Ultimately, whether it was these items or the God of War himself, he would have to bring them back to the academy and then hand them over to her.
Seeing Isolde's actions, the God of War also breathed a sigh of relief.
Since she had accepted the items, he should be able to leave, right?
Thinking of this, the God of War forced a smile: "Great existence, I wonder when you will be able to leave?"
Isolde answered a different question: "Have you brought out all of your items?"
The God of War did not know what she meant by this, but could only bite the bullet and nod.
"Yes, these items are my entire collection; I have nothing else!"
Hearing this, Isolde nodded slightly.
She understood that if this god still said this at this point, it seemed that nothing else could be squeezed out, so it was time to start the harvest.
Isolde looked up, her eyes fixed tightly on the God of War's body, a rare arc forming at the corner of her mouth.
"No, there is still one thing you haven't handed over to me."
As soon as these words were spoken, the God of War felt a chill run through his entire body as he looked at Isolde's cold smile.
Even if his reactions were slow, he realized what was happening by this point.
Or rather, he should have realized it long before.
But unfortunately, what people are best at is harboring wishful thinking, and even gods are no exception.
The God of War roared: "You...!!!"
But before the God of War could finish his sentence, or even before he had barely opened his mouth, countless tiny, thin threads appeared in the air throughout the entire church, from the inside out.
Except for the place where Isolde and Byron were standing, whether it was the God of War's believers kneeling on the ground or the God of War's Mental Energy body floating in mid-air, their bodies were completely covered in threads.
Especially the stone statue, which had an extraordinary number of threads, practically dense and packed.
Seeing this, the God of War roared in shock and anger: "When did you do all this? Why didn't I notice anything at all?!"
Isolde did not seem to have the habit of answering questions for her enemies.
When facing the God of War's questioning, she gently clenched her fair, slender fingers in mid-air.
The threads in mid-air suddenly tightened, binding the believers and the God of War's Mental Energy body within them, rendering them unable to move.
If Byron had seen the methods used by that Stigmata Wizard, he would likely feel a sense of familiarity.
However, even if Byron hadn't seen it, he could feel the power and complexity contained within this sorcery at this moment.
Why was Byron able to realize that this sorcery was not simple?
It was very simple; just by relying on these threads to bind the God of War, who was a Mental Energy body, and render him unable to move, one could tell.
One must know that a Mental Energy body is composed of formless, intangible matter; ordinary methods, let alone binding him so simply, wouldn't even be able to touch him!
Another point was that the moment these threads appeared, Byron had used the Eye of Omniscience to analyze this sorcery, only to discover that analyzing it would take hundreds of years!
Perhaps noticing the confusion in Byron's eyes, or seeing that the overall situation was settled, Isolde moved her red lips slightly and explained softly.
"Byron, this is not knowledge you can come into contact with yet. Only after you become an Official Wizard, or even reach the level of a Third-Ring Wizard approaching the Stigmata, will you be qualified to access it."
"However, I can tell you a little about it now."
As she spoke, Isolde gently raised her arm, which was as delicate as a white lotus root, and her exquisite fingers slightly plucked at the threads as she began to speak.
"This sorcery, or rather this type of sorcery, has a unified name in the Wizard World: Seal Sorcery."
Byron: "Seal Sorcery?"
Isolde tapped the thin threads and nodded: "Yes, Seal Sorcery."
"The essence of Seal Sorcery is the wizard constructing a closed-loop confinement environment to restrict the target's original material movement, energy circulation, and Mental Energy fluctuations; this is the essence of a Seal."
"And why do I say it is very important to us wizards?"
"Because Seal Sorcery has huge uses for alchemy, potions, combat, scientific research, resource preservation, and so on..."
"Just like now, if I didn't know Seal Sorcery, it might very well lead to the God of War fighting to the death, making irrational decisions, and causing harm to me."
"In that case, it would be a great loss for us and would cause our interests to be damaged, which is something wizards cannot accept."
Hearing this, Byron nodded slightly, but quickly asked again: "Then, in that case, why did you, Mentor, have the God of War take out his collection himself earlier?"
Perhaps because Isolde was immersed in the joy of the harvest, she showed no impatience at all.
"That is because I did not know if he had any other means to react the moment the Seal Sorcery was cast and destroy the items."
"Therefore, since it was possible to have him willingly take out all the items, why would I want to take that risk?"
