120: Chapter 120 Implosion

The more beautiful a thing is, the more dangerous it may be behind the scenes, just like this rose.

At the very moment the rose bloomed, the entire church collapsed instantly from the inside out, with bricks and shattered building materials instantly thrown high into the sky.

Just as the crowds in other parts of the castle saw the blooming rose and were drawn to it, a few sharp-eyed individuals saw the things being lifted up by the rose.

When they saw clearly what those things were, they did not hesitate and immediately let out shrill screams!

"Ah! Get out of the way! Something is about to crash down!"

"Move! If you want to die, that's your business, but I don't! Get out of my way!"

"I don't want to die yet!"

"..."

Those sharp-eyed people turned and began to flee into the distance. Anyone blocking their path was shoved aside; they only cared about their own survival and paid no mind to the life or death of those they knocked to the ground.

However, no one was kind enough to shout a warning to try and get everyone to flee together, and the strength of one or a few people was too insignificant.

No matter how they shouted, it was to no avail.

In the midst of this, those objects that had been thrown high into the sky began to rain down.

Some landed inside the castle, while others landed outside.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

Enormous, dull thuds echoed throughout the vicinity of the castle.

In an instant, flesh and blood flew everywhere, houses shattered, and the entire castle was stained red with blood.

Faced with such a sudden turn of events, no one could react in time; they could only stand there blankly, waiting for death.

It was not until the sounds and smoke dissipated that the crowd finally came to their senses.

The next moment, screams, wails, and pained groans replaced the roaring sounds, echoing in every corner of the castle.

At this moment, the entire castle was the very picture of Hell on earth.

As for the blond man and the kind-looking man who followed Byron's fate, they were fortunate enough to escape the disaster because they were hiding in a sturdy room.

They stood before the window with blank expressions, watching the Hell on earth below.

It was not until the pained wails began that the two of them slowly came back to their senses.

The blond man looked at the blood-soaked scenes below and swallowed hard.

"Is... is this the power of a wizard?"

The composure and coldness on the kind-looking man's face had completely faded away.

Although he was indifferent to human life, he only ever killed them directly; he could not achieve something like this, where severed limbs and broken arms were scattered everywhere, and bloody minced meat smeared the streets and the walls of houses.

This was not even in the same league!

Hearing the blond man's question, the kind-looking man shook his head blankly, not knowing how to answer.

In his imagination, wizards were just like those depicted in stories—casting fireballs and the like; he had never imagined a scene like this.

Surely, after this experience, they would never again treat wizards with any disrespect.

Furthermore, they were both incredibly grateful that they had honestly followed Byron's instructions and had not been negligent in the slightest.

Just as the entire castle was plunged into wailing, the smoke at the site of the church slowly dispersed, and Byron's figure gradually revealed itself.

At this moment, Byron, the one who had caused all of this, looked a bit disheveled.

Seeing the large expanse of flat ground around him, a complex look appeared on his face.

Originally, a large circle of small, cramped houses should have stood on this flat ground, but at the moment the rose bloomed, that circle of houses around the church could not escape the fate of being destroyed and simply fell apart.

However, because the church had borne the brunt of the explosion, those outer houses were merely flattened by the massive shockwave, rather than being sent flying like the church.

As for the people inside the church and those houses, was there any need to ask? If houses built of bricks and stones could not withstand it, what could their flesh and blood bodies use to resist? Their heads?!

At the moment the light appeared, those people had already died; they had not survived until the moment the flames emerged.

But that was fine, too; an early death meant an early reincarnation, and they suffered less torment.

In truth, Byron had been negligent regarding this situation.

He had forgotten that in a confined space, an explosion has a multiplier effect; it was not until the moment he released the spell, with the reminder from the Eye of Omniscience, that he suddenly remembered.

As for the principle, it was quite simple: the lethality of the Flame Condensation Explosion Spell mainly came from the detonation shockwave and the high-temperature, high-pressure gases.

As for the shockwave, in an open-air environment, it could disperse in all directions, and its power would rapidly decay with distance.

But in a confined space, the shockwave would hit the walls and reflect back; the high-pressure waves that were originally escaping would turn back, superimposing and pressurizing with the subsequently generated shockwaves, causing the air pressure within the space to repeatedly spike.

As for the generated high-temperature, high-pressure gases, in the open air, they would rapidly expand, rise, and dissipate heat, with their volume released infinitely.

But in a confined space, the volume was fixed, and the high-temperature, high-pressure gases were trapped inside, continuously raising the ambient air pressure and creating a sustained high-pressure effect.

In this way, the prolonged compression of the spatial structure led to the church shattering and the debris being thrown into the sky.

After a slight sigh of emotion, a look of excitement appeared on Byron's face.

"Omniscience, retrieve the various reaction values of the Flame Condensation Explosion Spell just now, along with all the data from this experiment."

[Retrieving...]

That's right; after being reminded by the Eye of Omniscience, Byron actually had plenty of time to run out of the church and reach a safe area, and he wouldn't have ended up in such a disheveled state.

But unfortunately, after receiving the warning, Byron did not immediately flee according to the suggestion of the Eye of Omniscience, but instead chose to stay behind.

The reason he did this was because he knew very well that this was a rare opportunity to observe the data of the Flame Condensation Explosion Spell and the phenomenon of implosion at close range.

However, he wasn't foolish enough to just take the damage head-on; that wouldn't be called an experiment, but suicide.

During that reaction time, Byron calculated repeatedly and, with the help of the Eye of Omniscience, found several methods to withstand it.

And so, after casually choosing one of the methods, he began his journey of observation and experimentation.

[Retrieval successful.]

As the prompt from the Eye of Omniscience appeared, a dynamic image emerged before Byron's eyes.

And surrounding this image, dense strings of data were marked out.

For example, the quasi-static pressure, which was the real-time data of the long-lasting high pressure caused by the confined explosion; the echo pressurization, which was the real-time data of the reflected shockwaves superimposing and increasing pressure; the choking pressure effect, and so on...

Looking at these data points that were gradually increasing over time, as well as the various reactions within the church, Byron narrowed his eyes slightly.

He had a premonition that with this data, and the Flame Condensation Explosion Spell, he might be able to construct another spell that was unique to himself.

And if he organized this data completely and conducted a few more related experiments, he might even be able to produce a research paper.

With this thought in mind, Byron closed the image and, after having the Eye of Omniscience archive it, turned and walked toward the outskirts of the castle.
