166: Chapter 165 Exchange
Chapter 166 Exchange
After leaving the Beilike Slave Chamber of Commerce, Byron and Eliza headed to Eliza's dormitory.
Byron sat on the sofa, and Eliza looked at him with a beaming smile, asking, "Would you like black tea or something else?"
Byron replied, "Black tea is fine, no need to go to any trouble."
After pouring Byron a cup of black tea, Eliza plopped down opposite him.
Looking at Eliza, Byron got straight to the point: "You mentioned in the letters left at my Laboratory several times that you had something to discuss with me. What exactly is making you so anxious?"
Eliza seemed to have anticipated that Byron would be this direct and showed no sign of surprise, but she didn't answer his question immediately, instead asking in return:
"Byron, do you remember what I said on the ferry that took us to the academy?"
Looking at the beaming Eliza in front of him, Byron didn't know why she had suddenly brought this up, nor what she really wanted to ask.
After a moment of thought, Byron asked with a tentative tone:
"What you said? Could it be about your ancestors? And the reason you're in such a rush to discuss things with me is also related to your ancestor?"
Eliza hadn't expected Byron to guess what she wanted to say so quickly. After giving him a deep look, she remarked,
"Byron, among the three of us, you are the most perceptive and intelligent. Not to mention Gray, even I fall short of you."
"That's right. The matter I wanted to discuss with you is exactly as you thought."
Hearing this, Byron's expression shifted.
He had originally thought it was just some small matter between friends that she needed to discuss or get help with, but he hadn't expected it to involve the Official Wizard behind Eliza.
That Official Wizard was far away at the White Tower Wizard Academy, thousands of miles away, and couldn't possibly control him.
But after all, it was an Official Wizard; one could never be too careful.
Seeing Byron's solemn expression, Eliza was momentarily stunned.
She then realized what was happening, a wry expression appearing on her face as she waved her hands repeatedly to explain.
"Sorry, Byron, I didn't explain clearly. Things aren't as serious as you think; it's not that my Official Wizard ancestor has something to ask of you."
"Not long ago, through my mentor's contact channel, my ancestor sent a message saying that in two years, the three major academies will have an expedition to explore a brand-new otherworld."
"Furthermore, this expedition allows Wizard Apprentices to participate. Therefore, my ancestor told me to try my best to find a way to join this operation."
"He said it would be of great benefit to my future wizard path."
"But since he is a member of the White Tower Wizard Academy, he cannot give me a quota from the White Tower Wizard Academy and can only let me find a way from the Dark Eclipse Wizard Academy myself."
"And here at the Dark Eclipse Wizard Academy, besides the academy holding some quotas, there is also a Wizard Apprentice named Byron who holds a quota. I presume that Byron must be you."
After hearing Eliza's explanation, Byron couldn't help but laugh; he hadn't expected that after going in such a big circle, it was still about the quota for the otherworld exploration.
After understanding the situation, Byron looked at Eliza's expectant gaze and, without hiding anything, nodded frankly.
"Eliza, you guessed correctly. I do hold some quotas, but there are only two left now. The other seven have already been traded away. If you need one, I can sell you one of them."
"After all, it makes no difference who I sell to. Selling to someone I can trust provides an extra layer of security during the operation, doesn't it?"
As he said this, Byron smiled and winked at Eliza.
Seeing this, the smile on Eliza's face became even brighter.
"Then thank you very much."
"However, Eliza, what rank of Wizard Apprentice are you now? You must know that it is a brand-new otherworld. While the things inside are extremely tempting, the hidden threats are not small either. If you don't have sufficient strength, I still hope you can consider it carefully before making a decision."
Hearing this, Eliza rolled her eyes at him in annoyance and said coquettishly,
"Byron, although I admit you are very powerful, I'm not bad either, okay? Plus, my Aptitude is even better than yours. Since you've already become a Third-Rank Wizard Apprentice, how could I possibly fall behind you?"
Hearing this, Byron gave an awkward smile and scratched his head.
This was indeed his oversight. Although Eliza's Aptitude was not much different from his, one must not forget that she had an Official Wizard ancestor as a backer.
He had even mentioned things like quotas to Eliza, hoping she could strive for them; surely she hadn't lacked support usually.
Seeing Byron scratching his head in embarrassment, Eliza burst into laughter.
"Alright, Byron, don't be like that. I know you're reminding me out of kindness, and I was just joking with you."
Eliza seemed to have remembered something; her expression turned serious, and she asked,
"Byron, I'd like to ask, how much of a price must be paid to exchange for one quota?"
"And you don't need to lower the price because of our friendship; even a slight premium is no problem, after all, this bill is being paid by my ancestor, heheββ"
Speaking of this, Eliza chuckled and signaled to Byron with a look.
Upon hearing this, Byron also revealed a knowing smile.
However, pricing a single quota was indeed a bit difficult.
Because the two transactions he had completed so far were large ones involving three or four quotas, he had never really sold just one and didn't know how to price it.
After a little thought, Byron told Eliza the general details of the two transactions he had completed.
After listening, Eliza was also at a loss as to what to do.
Just then, Byron spoke again, a mischievous smile on his face: "Eliza, would your ancestor mind bleeding a little more to support you?"
Eliza frowned slightly, not understanding what Byron meant, and nodded hesitantly, "I suppose so."
Hearing this, Byron clapped his hands: "Then this is easy to solve!"
Subsequently, Byron told Eliza the exchange plan of trading one quota plus one mental power qualitative change potion for one method of rune composition cycle.
Hearing this exchange method, Eliza frowned slightly.
"Byron, doesn't this mean you're at a loss? A mental power qualitative change potion and a method for rune composition cycle should be equivalent. Wouldn't that mean you're giving away a quota for nothing?"
"That won't do. How could I let you suffer a loss?"
Byron smiled and waved his hand: "Don't worry, Eliza, I know what I'm doing. I won't be at a loss. Just tell your ancestor about this plan and ask if he agrees."
"If he agrees, you might be able to directly obtain two of the five conditions required to promote to an Official Wizard."
Seeing Byron like this, Eliza knew he wasn't speaking empty words or saying this just because of their friendship, so she put her mind at ease.
"Alright, I will contact my ancestor through my mentor now and ask for his opinion."
Speaking of this, Eliza gave Byron an apologetic smile.
"It's just that, I'll have to trouble you to wait here for a while. After all, I don't want to wait another half a year to receive your reply."
