128: Chapter 127 Elf

Suppressing the excitement in his heart, the expression on the Short, chubby man's face became increasingly respectful and fawning.

"My lord, please follow me. The slaves you require are over here."

As he spoke, the Short, chubby man trotted along, leading Byron past row after row of iron cages until they arrived before a new area.

"My lord, these creatures possess a certain level of intelligence and are capable of serving as slaves to assist in potion refining and experiments."

Byron looked at the various strange-looking slaves in the iron cages and asked curiously.

"Where do you get these slaves from? Could it be that they were all captured from the Wizard Continent?"

Upon hearing Byron's words, the Short, chubby man seemed as if he had been frightened; the fawning expression on his face instantly vanished, replaced by terror, and he instinctively shook his head vigorously.

Seeing the confused expression on Byron's face, the Short, chubby man finally snapped out of it and explained, still visibly shaken.

"My lord, our Beilike Slave Chamber of Commerce is a legitimate slave trading firm. We are not like those Dark Wizard slave traders who violate the Wizard Council's regulations by capturing and selling native creatures without authorization."

"All of our slaves have proper documentation; they were acquired from worlds conquered by the great wizards. If you don't believe me, we have the paperwork, and you are welcome to inspect it at any time."

Hearing this, Byron felt a surge of curiosity as to why the Short, chubby man had such a strong reaction to that question.

After asking about his doubts and receiving an explanation from the Short, chubby man, Byron finally understood.

It turned out that after the era of the Great Expedition began, many wizards, in order to ensure their own safety but lacking enough money to purchase expensive slaves, had set their sights on the creatures native to the Wizard World.

In this way, no matter how large the Wizard World was or how many races it contained, it could not withstand such wanton exploitation by wizards.

One had to realize that as creatures serving as Soul slaves to wizards, their mortality rate in the Great Expedition had always remained high.

After all, dangerous tasks were generally carried out by these Soul slaves.

Consequently, they only went out and never came back.

As native species continuously went extinct, biodiversity was destroyed, leading to the collapse of the natural environment and even triggering disturbances in the World Will of the Wizard World.

Consequently, in order to maintain the diversity and sustainable development of native creatures, the Wizard Council issued formal regulations.

It stipulated that, unless one possessed a slave-capturing license issued by the Twelve Holy Towers to carry out slave-capturing in a planned and prepared manner, no other organization or individual was allowed to capture native creatures as Soul slaves to participate in plane expeditions without authorization.

Therefore, apart from those Dark Wizards, no other organization or individual dared to defy the orders of the Wizard Council.

After all, with the ongoing Great Expedition, the price of slaves had long since been driven down, making it completely unnecessary to take such a huge risk to capture native creatures; it simply wasn't worth the cost.

And this was precisely the reason why the Short, chubby man had such a strong reaction to what Byron had said.

If this were heard by someone with malicious intent, even if nothing was found in the end, it would still affect his business.

After clearing up the misunderstanding, the Short, chubby man did not delay any further and began to introduce to Byron, one by one, the slaves that had been bought or captured from various worlds.

From the worlds they originated from, to their abilities, temperaments, how they should be cultivated, and so on, he provided as much detail as possible.

Facing such a complex and lengthy introduction from the Short, chubby man, Byron not only showed no impatience but even smiled unconsciously, occasionally asking a question or two, which made the Short, chubby man explain even more enthusiastically.

There was a reason for Byron acting this way; one must not forget his Eye of Omniscience.

At this moment, the Short, chubby man appeared to be praising and recommending these slaves, but to Byron's ears, this was an introduction to one different world after another.

Although it was just a simple introduction, it greatly enriched his understanding of what lay beyond the Wizard World, filling in the missing data in the Eye of Omniscience's database.

As time slowly passed, the Short, chubby man introduced many different slaves, but Byron only asked questions without showing any intention to purchase, which made the Short, chubby man start to feel a bit anxious.

However, even so, he did not doubt Byron's willingness to buy; he merely thought that the slaves he was introducing were not good enough to pique Byron's interest.

Furthermore, the Short, chubby man believed that the pickier Byron was, the larger the share of this transaction would be!

It was precisely because of this that, after a moment of thought, the Short, chubby man stopped and turned to look at Byron.

"My lord, these are just ordinary goods, and I imagine they don't catch your eye. Please come with me; I have some premium items here that you will surely like."

Hearing the Short, chubby man's words, Byron knew he had misunderstood, but he just smiled inwardly without offering any explanation, following him toward the inner room.

After passing through several barriers, the two arrived at a high platform.

Standing on the high platform and looking down, the space below was divided by iron plates into completely independent rooms.

And those spaces were filled with creatures of various appearances.

Their demeanor and vitality were far better than those of the creatures in the outer hall.

Following an instruction from the Short, chubby man to the guards on the high platform, some of the creatures in those rooms suddenly rose into the air, floating until they reached the front of the high platform.

Seeing the slightly surprised expression on Byron's face, the Short, chubby man introduced them with a proud look.

"Respected Wizard, these are the premium slaves brought in by our Chamber of Commerce. Each slave has gone through round after round of selection and cultivation since they were young."

"We guarantee that after every customer purchases them, there will be no issues like rebellion or disobedience; they are truly ready to use upon acquisition."

As the Short, chubby man spoke, the slaves that had been hoisted up were presented one by one before the two.

As for the creatures staying in the rooms, they consciously stood up and turned around, showcasing themselves from every angle without any blind spots.

Byron's gaze first locked onto a humanoid creature wearing no clothes, with a pair of pointed ears.

This creature had delicate features, fair and translucent skin, long golden hair, and a slender figure; apart from the pair of pointed ears, it was indistinguishable from an ordinary human.

The Short, chubby man also noticed Byron's gaze and breathed a sigh of relief; finally, there was a slave that had piqued his interest.

The Short, chubby man hurriedly began to introduce it: "My lord, you have a good eye. This is an Elf from the Emerald Forest World; it possesses the Bloodline of the High Forest Elves of that world."

"It has an extremely high sensitivity to plant-based Materials and can even help you process Materials."

"It perfectly meets your requirements for assisting in potion refining, though the price is a bit high."

"There is one more point: because she is similar in appearance and body structure to humans, she can also satisfy..."

As he spoke, a smile that all men understood appeared on the Short, chubby man's face.

However, Byron seemed not to have heard what he said, his expression unchanged: "How many Magic Stones?"

Seeing this, the Short, chubby man reined in his smile and hurriedly said: "The original price was 300 Magic Stones; after the discount, it only requires 260 Magic Stones. This is the maximum discount within my authority."

Hearing this, Byron's eyelids twitched slightly.

260 Magic Stones; it had only cost him 300 Magic Stones to rent a Laboratory.

However, those 300 Magic Stones were for a year's rent, while the 260 Magic Stones was a one-time payment, so when calculated that way, it was acceptable.

After slightly estimating the Magic Stones he had on him, Byron nodded slightly and said: "Let's tentatively set it aside; let's look at other things first."

Hearing this, the Short, chubby man nodded happily and hurriedly had someone move the room where the Elf was located to a separate area to the side.

The Elf in the room also seemed to understand her future fate, but far from resisting, she was actually full of enthusiasm and anticipation for the future.

This was the result of being selected and cultivated from a young age; it was completely incomparable to those slaves captured from the outside.

Although those on the outside had an advantage in terms of strength, Byron was not selecting combat slaves; what use would such strong combat power be?
