149: Chapter 148 Outrageous Rumors

Chapter 149: Absurd Rumors

The general plot of that rumor was that a relatively powerful higher world was at war with the Wizard World.

A World Lord from that world, in order to figure out the specifics of the Wizard World and gain the upper hand in the subsequent war,

actually chose to hide within the Soul of a slave belonging to an Official Wizard who was preparing to return to the Wizard World for some reason, and followed that Official Wizard back to the Wizard World.

You could say it was clever for knowing how to gather intelligence and figure out information about the Wizard World, and it didn't hide in the Official Wizard's Soul but chose their slave instead.

But unfortunately, that World Lord did not understand the relationship between a wizard and a Soul slave.

So, as soon as it possessed the slave, it was detected by the slave's master, who reported it to the Wizard Council.

Regarding such a situation, the Wizard Council did not immediately move to capture it, but instead allowed it to use the slave to gather intelligence on the Wizard World.

Of course, the intelligence it was allowed to know was only what the Wizard Council wanted it to know, and most of the information released was similar to what Byron had seen.

But that World Lord didn't know that. After obtaining the intelligence, it actually believed it had acquired it through its own efforts and transmitted all that intelligence back to its own world.

That world, having obtained the intelligence, concentrated most of its strength based on that information and formulated a surprise attack plan, preparing to drive the Wizard World out.

As a result, the consequences were self-evident.

That world could have held out for a long time, but after this stunt, it was completely conquered by the Wizard Expeditionary Army before long.

As for that World Lord hiding in the Official Wizard's slave's Soul, after the incident, the Wizard Council took action and turned it into that Official Wizard's slave.

You could say it was stupid for choosing to possess a wizard's slave directly with its own Soul.

Did it not figure out the relationship between a slave and a wizard, or what kind of contract they had signed before possessing it?

And didn't it know that both Official Wizards and their slaves are strictly inspected when returning to the Wizard World?

This is done precisely to prevent such things from happening.

Although there is no way to confirm the truth of this rumor, one thing is certain.

In this Wizard World that values knowledge so highly, how could it be so easy for you to acquire a piece of knowledge?

Unless that knowledge is already obsolete, just like the knowledge of the Ancient Wizard.

Isolde looked at Byron, whose eyes were fixed on the summary and who had fallen into silence, and said softly.

"So, Byron, you should now know the difference between the various research achievements and understand the weight of an outstanding achievement."

"Although it cannot change the progress of the entire wizard civilization like epoch-making achievements, nor set rules for a certain level like top-tier achievements, nor promote the improvement and progress of a certain industry like excellent achievements."

"Although 'outstanding' applies to a specific craft or a specific technique and is not as grand as the previous three."

"But its appearance will also change the lives and research methods of countless wizards, and the benefits hidden behind it are also very covetable."

"So, let alone whether you can research an outstanding achievement, even if you really do, I hope you won't give up because of a mere fifty years of work time."

"Although fifty years seems very, very long to you now, that is because you are still a short-lived species and are only in your teens."

"But if you become an Official Wizard, transform into a long-lived species, and possess thousands of years of life, then fifty years will be just a fleeting moment, not worth mentioning at all."

Having said this, Isolde paused and said leisurely.

"Do you know why I came to the Dark Eclipse Wizard Academy to become a mentor and teach you all?"

Byron shook his head, confused. Weren't they just talking about research achievements and the situation regarding Official Wizards? How did it suddenly jump to this?

Don't stop the previous topic; he still wanted to keep listening.

Although this knowledge couldn't improve his strength and offered no substantial help to him right now, it could broaden his horizons and knowledge so that he wouldn't be completely clueless after becoming an Official Wizard.

Everything would need to be explored slowly by himself, and he didn't know how many pitfalls he could avoid.

Just from this point alone, it was simply invaluable.

But Isolde could not hear Byron's inner thoughts, so she didn't know what he was thinking at this moment, and it was impossible for her to fulfill Byron's wishes.

However, if she could hear Byron's inner thoughts, it was more likely she wouldn't continue talking along the lines Byron wanted, but would slap Byron to death instead.

She was kindly persuading and comforting him, yet he treated her persuasion and comfort as a channel for acquiring knowledge; it was simply lawless.

But then again, aren't all wizards like this, constantly pursuing knowledge and truth, just to explore the world?

So whether to slap him to death or feel gratified, it was really hard to say.

Isolde explained slowly: "The scholarship contract I signed during my apprenticeship stage has long been completed, and I am here now to fulfill another contract."

"My contract with the Potion Alliance, and this contract lasts for a century, completely occupying my rest time between mandatory missions."

"But do you know, I do not regret this situation, and even in the future, in order to learn higher-level Potionology knowledge, I will continue to sign contracts with the Potion Alliance and work for them."

There was one thing Isolde did not tell Byron: if she could train a student who became a Potion Master during the apprenticeship stage and joined the Potion Alliance,

then she could terminate this contract early, end her teaching stint decades early, and return to the Twelve Holy Towers.

Of course, this matter would not have too much of an impact on Byron; the biggest impact might just be that he wouldn't have a mentor afterward.

It was also considering this factor that Isolde told Byron this information about advancing to Official Wizard and some information after becoming an Official Wizard now.

In this way, it could be considered a win-win.

After hearing Isolde's words, Byron nodded silently.

Perhaps he was really influenced by his past life and his current age in this life, which was why he took those fifty years so seriously.

Even a wizard like Isolde could not avoid signing contracts and serving others in order to pursue knowledge, so why would he think he was the special one?

Seeing Byron like this, Isolde knew he had completely figured it out. She didn't say anything else but asked him if he had any other questions.

Hearing this, Byron instantly shook off his previous emo state and reflection and quickly asked his questions.

Reflection? Emo? In the face of free knowledge, these were not worth mentioning!

In the question-and-answer session, the questions that had previously accumulated in Byron's heart were answered one by one.

After the Q&A session, Isolde took Byron and left the underground, returning to the surface.

After coming out of Isolde's spire and looking at the blue sky and white clouds floating above the academy, Byron smiled lightly and walked towards the direction of the academy Library.
