4: Chapter 4 Reminder
"Byron, I finally caught you!"
Just as Byron was preparing to head to his room, a boisterous shout suddenly came from behind him.
Byron was stunned for a moment, but he quickly reacted, putting on a flawless, radiant smile before turning back to look.
At this moment, a youth with a round, plate-like face, slightly curly brown hair, and a build as sturdy as a small bear was pushing his way through the crowd, walking over while drenched in sweat.
The simple-minded youth was named Gray Thorne, a child of a Family friend of Byron's original body, and the two had known each other since they were young.
Beside this Gray was a golden-haired girl with a youthful appearance, yet her eyes revealed a hint of brightness; a smile appeared on the corner of her lips.
"Byron, congratulations! I really didn't expect your Aptitude to be so high; you were hiding it well!" Gray excitedly threw his arm around Byron's shoulder.
Byron modestly replied, "Yours isn't bad either, and when it comes to Aptitude, the two of us combined still can't compare to Eliza."
The Eliza Heather that Byron mentioned was the very same golden-haired girl who had previously tested for a Grade 4 Aptitude; her background was much more noble than Byron's, hailing from the royal Family of the Calancia Kingdom.
Gray chuckled, "Indeed! I really didn't expect Eliza's Aptitude to be so good. Byron, you don't know this, but when I saw Eliza testing, I was truly shocked; I couldn't even speak."
"Eliza, once we arrive at the Dark Eclipse Wizard Academy in the future, Byron and I will have to rely on you to take care of us. When we come knocking on your door to ask for help, don't keep us out."
Eliza smiled slightly, "Byron, don't believe what Gray says. It's not that exaggerated; he's exaggerating too much."
Byron teased with a smile, "The exaggerated Gray—isn't that something the whole kingdom knows?"
The three of them looked at each other and laughed, their tense nerves momentarily relaxing at this moment.
The laughter gradually ceased, and a sense of melancholy began to permeate among the three.
Eliza gathered her slightly messy golden hair and looked toward the direction of the island that had long since disappeared from view, a touch of sadness rising in her eyes.
"Gray, Byron, when do you think we will be able to return to the Calancia Kingdom, return to our fiefs, and ride our Pock horses to hunt sand rabbits in the forest freely?"
Hearing this, Byron fell silent and did not speak.
But Gray waved his hand nonchalantly and said, "Eliza, don't worry. Our Aptitudes aren't bad, and as long as we work hard, we will definitely be able to become noble wizards."
"Once we become noble wizards, we can come back whenever we want.
By then, maybe our Families will be proud of us, and perhaps they might even hang our portraits in the castle corridors."
Speaking of this, a look of longing appeared in Gray's eyes, as if that scene had already appeared in his mind.
Regarding this, Byron and Eliza didn't say anything, just looked at each other and smiled.
Both of them knew clearly in their hearts that this wish was Gray's biggest dream; they had been hearing him talk about it since they were young.
Just then, Gray suddenly remembered something and slapped his forehead in annoyance.
"Oh, this is terrible. I almost forgot; you two—one lives on the third floor, one on the fourth floor—you don't need to worry about room issues at all."
"But I have a Grade 2 Aptitude, so I live on the second floor, where there are the most people. I really don't know if there are any rooms left now!"
Speaking of this, Gray looked at Byron and Eliza and chuckled, "Byron, Eliza, you two keep chatting. I have to go first; see you tonight!"
Before he finished speaking, he waved his hand and plunged into the cabin, his figure disappearing from their sight.
Byron shook his head, looking at Eliza with a smile, "Gray still does things so impulsively; it's really helpless."
Eliza nodded with a smile, "Indeed, but that's just Gray, isn't it?"
"That's right, that's the real Gray..." Byron looked in the direction where Gray had disappeared, his face showing emotion.
Withdrawing his gaze, Byron turned to look at Eliza, "Eliza, let's go see the rooms the Wizard prepared for us now."
The two walked into the cabin side by side.
Upon entering the cabin, Byron felt that the interior was quiet to the point of being oppressive.
The wall lamps hanging on both sides of the corridor illuminated the tightly joined wooden floorboards, revealing every detail.
Walking up the spiral staircase all the way, they soon arrived at the junction between the third and fourth floors.
Here, they were about to part ways.
"Eliza, see you tonight." Byron waved goodbye.
Eliza nodded slightly in return.
However, just as she lifted her skirt and brushed past Byron, in that extremely fleeting and hidden moment when their figures crossed.
Eliza's faint voice suddenly sounded, reaching Byron's ears.
"Be careful of Klevin and Andrei. Remember, do not sign any contracts before arriving at the Academy; there are traps in them. I have already told Gray, so you don't need to worry about him."
Byron's eyes narrowed slightly, not knowing what he was thinking.
As for his footsteps, there wasn't even a half-second pause, and his facial expression didn't change in the slightest, as if nothing had just happened; he continued walking forward.
Until he had completely entered the third-floor corridor, the warm smile on Byron's face instantly vanished completely.
Although Byron had never intended to seek out Klevin and Andrei privately from the very beginning, whether because of his own secrets or that crude scam.
However, he was still grateful that Eliza was willing to take such a big risk to warn him, so naturally, he wouldn't do anything to betray a teammate.
Moreover, Byron also heard some other information from this warning from Eliza's mouth.
That was, as a princess of Calancia, she seemed to know the Wizard World very well.
But thinking about it, it made sense; after all, Wizards take away so many children with Aptitude every time. Even if becoming a Wizard is difficult, there must be one or two lucky ones who become Wizards and return to the Cran Continent, which is that island.
As such, it was impossible for the Calancia Kingdom not to have heard any news.
Furthermore, the initial rough screening was held by each country.
It seems that in the future, he could use Eliza as a Breakthrough point to ask her more about the Wizard World.
Thinking to himself, Byron arrived in front of a room in the middle of the corridor.
Looking at the door with a crystal ball embedded in it, Byron frowned slightly. Klevin and the other didn't give him a key; how was he supposed to open the door?
Could this be...
Before Byron could figure it out, he saw the room door suddenly flash with a green light, and with a click, the door opened just like that.
[Byron Augustus, Top-tier Grade 3 Aptitude, meets requirements.]
Looking at the open door and the text on the crystal ball, Byron was also stunned.
He had thought of many ways to open the door just now, but he never expected it to open like this.
Interesting, is this considered a biological identification access control for the Wizard World?
After taking a few more looks, Byron walked into the room and closed the door, and the corridor returned to calm once again.
