47: Chapter 47 Elena's Visit
Meanwhile, in another part of the Wizard Settlement, over a dozen people were gathered in a spacious hall.
These dozen or so people were sitting around a long stone table. At the head of the table sat a young man with a rugged, honest appearance and bulging muscles.
Behind him hung a massive painting that covered the entire wall, depicting a giant rock engulfed in flames descending from the sky, about to crash into a primeval forest.
And in the pitch-black sky, a giant hand was tearing through the clouds, reaching toward the burning meteorite.
After scanning the people sitting around him, the rugged young man suddenly spoke.
"You should have all heard about what happened in the Mission Hall today. Tell me, what are your thoughts?"
As soon as the rugged young man spoke, it was as if a switch had been flipped, and the hall instantly became boisterous.
"I was in the hall at that time. You have no ideaβthat screen recording the redeemed knowledge suddenly became unfamiliar. Item after item of unknown knowledge just poured out as if it were free."
"Hey, hey, hey, don't talk about it. I heard it too, and I specifically ran to the Mission Hall afterward. It really was like that; it's truly terrifying!"
"That's just the ones that were successfully redeemed. If you count the ones that weren't, there must be even more!"
"I specifically asked around, and the person redeeming the knowledge seems to be called... called Byron. And I also heard that he is a freshman who just enrolled last year."
"What?! A freshman?! Are freshmen these days so terrifying? Not only can he safely emerge from the Desert Forbidden Zone, but he has also researched so much knowledge? That's just absurd!"
"..."
Just as everyone was discussing it, two people in the hall showed a strange expression on their faces.
And these two people looked at each other with mutual understanding, also seeing the suspicion in each other's eyes.
"Alright, alright, what I want you to say isn't a discussion about how powerful that person is; I want you to discuss a solution!"
Hearing the cacophony of discussions, the rugged young man frowned and interrupted.
Upon hearing the young man speak, the group's discussion stopped, their expressions became serious, and they began to state their own countermeasures.
"When dealing with a talent like Byron, we must focus on winning him over. Even if we cannot, we must absolutely not make an enemy of him, so as not to cause unnecessary impact on our journey."
A young girl with long crimson hair suddenly stood up and spoke.
The girl's words received unanimous agreement from everyone, and they also voiced their own thoughts.
The students who could appear here were at least Third-Rank Wizard Apprentices, and there were even quite a few Limit Wizard Apprentices.
Therefore, what these people cared about most was not fame or resources, but their own path to becoming an Official Wizard.
After further discussion, the rugged young man called a halt and summarized.
"Since that is the case, we should prioritize winning over this Wizard Apprentice named Byron. Even if we can't, we must not offend him."
"Furthermore, regarding the information about the Desert Forbidden Zone he holds, it would be best if we could get him to join us. If he is unwilling, do not force him; trading for the information he holds is also fine."
"In short, everything must be done without causing any impact on our mandatory mission this time. After all, this relates to whether we can all become Official Wizards!"
This proposal was agreed upon by everyone present and passed unanimously.
As for who would go to contact Byron, a tall, graceful blonde girl and the red-haired young man volunteered.
Initially, when the blonde girl suggested she go herself, many people present wanted to object, but under her gaze, they surrendered one by one and fell silent again.
At this moment, many places in the Wizard Settlement were playing out exactly what had happened in this hall, though the results of the discussions were different.
...
In a spacious bungalow.
"Byron, this meal is definitely the best one I've eaten since coming to the Ghost Marrow Crystal Nest Plane, bar none. It's truly satisfying β"
Gray sat on the sofa, rubbing his round belly contentedly, speaking with a smile on his face.
Byron smiled and shook his head: "Gray, you're exaggerating too much."
Gray: "How could I, Gray, be exaggerating? You ask Eliza!"
Eliza just smiled and nodded at this, not continuing to dwell on the topic.
"Alright, Byron, since you've already found a place to stay, Gray and I will take our leave. You should get some good rest."
Hearing this, Gray also reacted and sat up from the sofa with a kip-up.
"Byron, what Eliza said makes sense. You've worked hard for so many days; it's time to get a good rest. We won't disturb you any further."
Saying this, Gray walked toward the door.
Seeing the two of them acting so hurriedly, Byron smiled slightly. He didn't say any polite pleasantries and saw them to the door.
Watching them walk away, Byron closed the door and walked into the room.
Now, let alone tidying up the room, he didn't even want to practice Meditation.
He just wanted to have a good, sound sleep!
"Knock, knock, knock β"
Just as Byron had flopped onto the bed, a crisp knocking sound came from outside.
Hearing this movement, Byron thought it was Eliza and the others who had forgotten to mention something, so he got up and opened the door.
But when Byron saw clearly who was standing at the door, a look of surprise appeared in his smile.
"Elena, Colin, why are you here?"
The blonde girl standing at the door laughed out loud when she saw it was Byron who opened the door.
"Colin, I told you that person was Byron!"
As she spoke, Elena slapped the red-haired Colin on the shoulder, making Colin wince.
The person knocking on the door was none other than Byron's senior, Elena, and senior, Colin.
Colin smiled bitterly: "Elena, I didn't say it wasn't Byron."
Elena ignored Colin's words and looked at Byron with a smile:
"Byron, I never expected that you would cause such a big stir as soon as you arrived at the Wizard Settlement!"
Elena's words stunned Byron, but he soon realized what she was talking about.
He had just arrived at the Wizard Settlement, so the only thing she could be talking about was that redeemed knowledge.
Byron felt helpless. He knew it might spread quickly, but he never expected it to spread so fast.
In just the time it took to eat a meal, his newly rented accommodation had already been tracked down by people. This was really enough!
Regarding this, Byron just smiled and welcomed Elena and Colin inside.
"Sorry, I just rented this place, so I don't have anything to entertain you with."
Elena waved her hand dismissively: "What's there to be sorry about? It's fine."
Colin, looking like a disgruntled person, sat beside Elena and nodded, maintaining his last shred of stubbornness.
Seeing this, Byron smiled and asked: "Elena, why did you and Colin come to visit together? Could it be...?"
Colin just wanted to explain, but before he could speak, he was interrupted by Elena.
"Oh, you're asking about this? Colin has been promoted to a Third-Rank Wizard Apprentice, so he met the requirements. I just pulled him into the organization I'm in. It's nothing major."
Speaking of this, Elena stared intently at Byron and asked curiously.
"Byron, tell me, was what happened in the Mission Hall really done by you? I still can't quite believe it even now!"
