73: Chapter 73 Waiting for a Rabbit to Run into a Tree Stump

In the Wizard Settlement, there was a small building directly facing Byron's residence.

The room was pitch black, with all windows covered by thick curtains, making it impossible to see anything inside from the outside.

On the window facing Byron's residence, however, a tiny gap was left, and a pair of bloodshot eyes stared fixedly at Byron's residence.

The owner of those eyes, a handsome youth with a slender build, saw that the door to Byron's residence remained tightly shut; a look of irritation appeared on his face, and he muttered curses.

"Is this bastard really a turtle? He's been back for so long, and he still won't come out?!"

If he hadn't seen Byron return with his own eyes, he would have thought Byron was still out with the Fallen Sun Council.

When the handsome youth thought about the days and nights of staking out, sorrow welled up within him, and he nearly burst into tears.

This handsome youth was none other than the pretty boy looked down upon by Colin: Locke.

As for why he was watching Byron, it was naturally because the small fry he had been reeling in could no longer satisfy his desires and needs.

And he had happened to see how popular Byron was at the academy's Potion Making market, which had sparked his greed.

He had originally planned to take advantage of this mission to ambush Byron and steal his magic stones and potions, and had even followed him from the time Byron was at the academy square.

He had intended to be teleported to the same location as Byron and, relying on his strength as a Second-Rank Wizard Apprentice, strike before Byron could react.

But plans couldn't keep up with changes; he hadn't expected it to be a random teleportation.

This caused his first plan to fail, and he had been frustrated for a while, even thinking that Byron had died somewhere.

When he returned from collecting Materials and heard news of Byron, Byron had already left with Dylan and the others.

However, Locke did not give up on this; as long as Byron wasn't dead, it was fine.

In order to stake out this big fish, Byron, he had rented a small house opposite his residence the moment he found out where it was.

He figured that Byron would return sooner or later, and he would look for an opportunity then.

Locke's guess was spot on; Byron had indeed returned, and he had even celebrated specifically, thinking that the heavens were favoring him.

But what he hadn't expected was that Byron had only left his home once since returning.

In this situation, Locke was completely dumbfounded.

During this period, he had thought about giving up, but when he thought of the risks outside and those brutal Worm Race, he gritted his teeth and chose to continue the stakeout.

These past few days, in order to know Byron's whereabouts immediately, he hadn't even dared to sleep, at most just dozing for a moment, fearing that Byron would suddenly leave while he was asleep.

"Damn it! I don't believe it. There's still over a month left; you really won't step out even once?!"

Locke stared at Byron's tightly shut door, his bloodshot eyes wide, and said through gritted teeth with a twisted expression.

Time passed bit by bit, and after an unknown amount of time, Locke began to doze off again.

Suddenly, he seemed to see the door opposite open.

Startled by this change, Locke rubbed his eyes in disbelief.

Upon seeing that the door to Byron's residence had truly opened, and even seeing Byron walk out and head away.

Seeing this scene, Locke was so excited he almost cried.

Who knew what kind of life he had been living during this time; this bastard had finally come out.

Looking at Byron's still somewhat youthful face, a cruel smile curled at the corners of Locke's mouth, and he muttered to himself.

"You finally couldn't help it. I've finally waited for you. As long as you step out of the Settlement, then..."

However, before Locke could finish his sentence, he noticed that Byron, who was about to leave, suddenly stopped, a smile appearing on his face, as if he were greeting someone.

Seeing this, a bad premonition suddenly arose in his heart.

On the other side, Byron, who intended to go out to buy some daily necessities and experimental Materials, had just walked out of the door. Before he could even close it, he saw a few unexpected figures walking toward him.

"Hahaha, Byron, I didn't expect it to be such a coincidence. I was worried you weren't home just now."

Dylan saw the bewildered Byron and greeted him with a hearty laugh.

Those people were none other than the four members of Dylan's group who had successfully returned from the Desert.

Byron saw Dylan greeting him, snapped out of his daze, and said with a smile.

"I really didn't expect to see you all, President, so soon. I thought you were still in the Desert."

Elena chuckled and said, "Byron, guess why we're back now?"

Once these words were spoken, not to mention Byron, even the three others—Dylan included—looked at Byron, waiting for his answer.

Byron didn't even think about it and said with a smile, "Congratulations to you all, President, for a successful operation."

"To be honest, I really didn't expect your operation to be so swift, President. It's terrifyingly fast."

Hearing Byron's words, Elena pouted in boredom; Byron had guessed it so easily.

And Loris and Elena were truly worthy of being best friends; their expressions at this moment were identical.

As for Dylan, he asked curiously, "Byron, how did you know our operation was successfully completed?"

Byron shrugged helplessly: "If it hadn't been successfully completed, would you all be able to return smiling together?"

Dylan was stunned for a moment, then quickly reacted, smiling bitterly and shaking his head.

Byron looked at the people standing in front of him and said with a smile, "Alright, President, let's not talk outside. Please come in."

Afterward, Byron led Dylan and the others into the room, then closed the door again, and the Magic Array was activated once more.

In the room opposite, upon seeing this scene, Locke felt dizzy, as if the sky had collapsed.

He had waited for so many days, and only just managed to wait for Byron to leave, but Dylan and the others had gone back inside...

At this moment, Locke slumped onto the chair, his bloodshot eyes staring at the ceiling, and two lines of crystal-clear tears hit the floor, kicking up fine dust.

In the living room, before Byron could even sit down, Dylan reached out and wiped his waist, and three origin crystal essence, still glistening with water droplets, appeared in his palm and were handed to Byron.

"Byron, the other Materials will be delivered later. It's up to you now."

Dylan looked at Byron with a solemn expression, while Loris and Ivan stared fixedly at Byron, waiting for his answer.

Seeing the three of them looking so solemn, Byron did not immediately take the three origin crystal essence, but instead chuckled suddenly.

"Rest assured, I have already thoroughly studied that potion formula, and without certainty, I would not start Potion Making."

Although he had been studying the effects of dense lattice structures on fire elements during this time, the Eye of Omniscience's research was equivalent to his own research, wasn't it?

So, there was nothing wrong with Byron saying that.

"Furthermore, I have a share in this, don't I? You can rest assured; I certainly won't mess around."

"It's just that during the time I am engaged in Potion Making, I will have to trouble you, President."

Once these words were spoken, the three of them—Dylan's group—smiled, and Elena breathed a sigh of relief for Byron.

The three of them smiled because they understood the underlying meaning of Byron's words, which completely put them at ease.
