270: Eat the marrow and know the taste

“Roar~”

The beast’s cries grew weaker, and beads of sweat appeared on Xun An Cai’s body. After a dozen more punches, the beast stopped moving entirely.

“Whew~”

Xun An Cai let out a long sigh of relief. Though tired, she didn’t rest. She turned, pulled her long knife from the tree, hoisted the beast onto her shoulder, and started walking back.

“Hurry, this is the border with the Bear Clan. Don’t run into their people.”

“Okay.”

Xu Sanyan followed closely behind her. Fortunately, nothing unexpected happened.

“Wait.”

Xu Sanyan stopped her, then pulled off his sleeve, tearing it into strips to bind the wound on her abdomen.

Xun An Cai stood still, holding the beast, allowing him to tend to her. Her eyes revealed an uncontainable joy.

In the past, whenever she was injured, she would hide alone at home, silently licking her wounds like a lonely little beast. This was the first time she had received care from someone else, and it deeply moved her.

Is this what it feels like to have a man?

No wonder everyone wants to get married.

Xun An Cai watched Xu Sanyan meticulously tend to her wound, her large eyes overflowing with affection. She couldn’t help but grin foolishly.

Xu Sanyan, bending slightly, looked up. The moment their eyes met, he knew clearly that this woman had been completely won over by him.

If he were in danger at this moment, Xun An Cai would undoubtedly risk her life to save him.

Sometimes, emotional bonds are more reliable than power, especially for someone as simple-minded as Xun An Cai.

“I like you so much…” Xun An Cai no longer felt any physical pain. Her heart was now full of sweetness.

“What silly talk is that? Let’s go.” Xu Sanyan patted her perky bottom.

“Okay.”

By the time they returned to the Dog Clan, it was already dark.

Although she hadn’t eaten all day, Xun An Cai was still full of vitality, as if she had endless energy.

Xu Sanyan was so hungry his stomach was practically touching his back. He had never imagined that he, a dignified Soul Refinement Realm Cultivator, would one day endure hunger.

Xun An Cai busied herself dismembering the beast, removing the internal organs and tossing them to the Three-Headed Dog. Her skilled movements were a pleasure to behold.

It wasn’t until complete darkness fell that they finally, by the light of the fire, ate their first meal of the day.

Both of them had enormous appetites, far beyond normal comprehension. What seemed like a very large beast was a quarter gone in one meal, and the rest would only last three days.

After the meal,

Xun An Cai, her face flushed, silently slipped into the covers, revealing only her eyes as she secretly watched Xu Sanyan.

Once his gaze met hers, Xun An Cai immediately pulled her head back under the covers.

Seeing this, a phrase popped into Xu Sanyan’s mind:

An acquired taste.

Once that kind of thing happens for the first time, she’ll never forget it for the rest of her life. Perhaps many years later, she’ll still often reminisce about the feeling her first time brought her.

The beast hide blanket was small, barely covering her upper body. Xu Sanyan looked at her exposed muscular legs, which still had traces of blood splattered on them from dismembering the beast.

Her ten toes were nervously intertwined, and her tendons were slightly prominent.

Because she didn’t wear shoes, her feet had thick calluses, and her once delicate feet had become rough. Fortunately, there was no odor.

His gaze swept over her slender ankles, muscular calves, and rounded yet lean thighs, finally looking towards…

Sigh…

Xu Sanyan sighed inwardly. If only she could take a bath, it would be even better…

Seeing that he hadn’t gotten into bed for a long time, Xun An Cai lifted a corner of the blanket again to peek at him, subtly shifting her body to the other side, her meaning clear.

“Your injury…”

Xu Sanyan was still a bit hesitant. She was his reliance now. If he broke her, eating would be a problem later on.

“Mmm… it’s fine.” Xun An Cai replied muffled from under the covers.

“Woof~”

The Three-Headed Dog let out an ill-timed low bark, as if also urging Xu Sanyan on.

Xu Sanyan gently lifted the covers, his fingertips accidentally brushing her chest, which immediately elicited a shiver.

“Tomorrow I’ll be participating in the first blessing. Is there anything I need to pay attention to?” Xu Sanyan didn’t rush into the main topic.

“Oh, you agreed to marry me?” Xun An Cai popped out from under the covers, her face filled with surprise.

In her understanding, Xu Sanyan would only receive a blessing if he agreed to marry her, and this was also preparation for having children in the future.

“No, your Clan Chief and I made a deal.”

“Oh…” A hint of disappointment flickered in Xun An Cai’s eyes, but it quickly vanished. “There’s nothing special to note about the blessing. The dog god will protect you.”

“dog god?” Xu Sanyan frowned, puzzled. “What does the blessing have to do with the dog god?”

Xun An Cai explained, “The blessing is for the dog god to bestow power upon you. Yinghun Mountain is the burial place of the dog god, and the earth vein stone is the dog god’s bones.”

Xu Sanyan raised an eyebrow. “So that’s why you’re called the Dog Clan?”

“That’s right.”

Xu Sanyan had thought it was because every household raised dogs, which was why they were called the Dog Clan. But now, it seemed there was more to it.

dog god…

Is it really a god?

“So the Bear Clan is also because they worship a bear god?”

“Exactly.”

Xun An Cai nodded. “The Bear Clan has greater strength, the Snake Clan is faster, and our Dog Clan is more balanced. We’re stronger than the Snake Clan and faster than the Bear Clan.”

“Then the Eagle Clan, they don’t actually fly, do they?” Xu Sanyan asked.

“No, but their senses are keener, and they’re very good with throwing spears. You must be careful if you ever encounter them.”

“The strongest are the Stone Clan. Their bodies are incredibly hard; you can’t even hurt them.”

“Stone Clan…”

Xu Sanyan realized that this Secret Realm was different from the previous two.

The Heavenly Dao here seemed more complete, not as singular as in the previous Secret Realms.

“Mmm, but don’t worry, the Stone Clan is far from us…”

As Xun An Cai spoke, her body unconsciously moved closer to Xu Sanyan, her small face growing redder.

Xu Sanyan stopped thinking, grabbed her hand, and flipped over, straddling her.

Xun An Cai no longer had the ability to tear apart tigers and leopards as she did before. Her entire body was soft, like a deflated ball. She slightly turned her head, not daring to meet his gaze.

“Look at me!” Xu Sanyan commanded forcefully.

“Mmm…”

Xun An Cai’s face flushed, and she closed her eyes nervously. Her wheat-colored body turned dark red, like a cooked shrimp, and her body temperature noticeably rose sharply.

“Open your eyes…”

Xu Sanyan leaned down, whispering into her ear. The warm breath entered her ear canal, causing her body to tremble violently.

Xun An Cai dared not speak, nor dared to open her eyes.

If she wanted to resist, Xu Sanyan would have no power to fight back, but she didn’t want to resist, allowing him to do as he pleased.

She even lifted her body slightly to better remove the beast hide from her body.

In the darkness, lingering sounds echoed. The Three-Headed Dog turned its head, pricking its ears to listen.

After a long while, it picked up the internal organs from the ground and walked away into the distance.

There were also many dogs within the Dog Clan, both male and female.
