376: Impolite

Xu Sanyan groped his way forward from memory, with Dog Clan members rushing down the mountain from time to time.

The distant commotion grew louder; although not many wild beasts had been drawn, the darkness made movement difficult, so it was hard to drive them away for a time.

Xu Sanyan slowly approached the wooden house ahead, which was the home of one of the Clan Elders.

The wooden house was very simple, but it was much better than Xun An Cai's previous house; at the very least, it had walls instead of a pavilion open to the wind on all sides.

He saw an old man push open the wooden door, seemingly looking into the distance. It was too dark, and Xu Sanyan could only see a humanoid silhouette. He couldn't be sure if this person was the Clan Elder,

but he decided to kill him first and ask questions later. If he killed the wrong person, he would consider it his bad luck.

Immediately, with a thought, a Divine Soul spike condensed in the Void Realm and fiercely stabbed towards the old man.

"Ah!!!"

An old, tragic scream rang out. By the sound of it, it seemed correct; it was undoubtedly one of the Clan Elders.

Xu Sanyan's figure flickered, moving forward at extreme speed, his right hand forming a palm and heavily striking the old man's throat.

"Crack—"

Hearing the crisp sound of bones breaking, Xu Sanyan held the old man with his backhand and dragged him into the forest.

"Woof~"

A dog bark came from inside the house, and then a Four-Headed Dog emerged, chasing in the direction Xu Sanyan had left.

"What's wrong?"

Another question came from inside the house, but Xu Sanyan had long since disappeared.

After a long time, the wild beasts that attacked the tribe either died or fled, and the Dog Clan returned to peace.

In the dense forest outside the mountain,

a figure was squatting on the ground, seemingly fiddling with something, with faint sounds of flesh being cut from time to time.

"Pfft~"

A long knife sliced across the neck, blood flowed onto the ground, and an old man's head was cut off. Xu Sanyan placed it to the side, neatly arranged with four other heads.

This scene alone was extremely horrifying, as if a man-eating demon was preparing ingredients.

Xu Sanyan stood up, took off his blood-stained long robe, and looked down at the five headless corpses, suddenly grinning, "I told you not to meddle, see, now you're dead."

Next to the five corpses were five accompanying dogs, three Three-Headed Dogs and two Four-Headed Dogs. He took care of them all at once.

Since his Breakthrough to Soul Refining middle-stage, his Soul Power had become more abundant, allowing him to use the Lu Family Refining Spirit Strength multiple times. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to easily wipe out these old geezers in one go.

But even so, his Soul Power had been depleted by more than seventy percent. Using Divine Soul magic again would likely harm his Origin.

Leaving the bodies here was fine; it wouldn't be long before wild beasts would help him destroy the evidence.

"You all stay here. I'm leaving now. No need to see me off."

Xu Sanyan smiled politely and turned to leave.

But these old fellows were impolite and didn't even get up to see him off.

When Xun An Cai returned to the cave, Xu Sanyan was already lying on the bed. The Six-Headed Dog pawed at the bed, sniffing closely, a very human-like look of confusion on its face; it smelled a faint scent of blood Qi.

Xun An Cai also twitched her nostrils; she smelled it too. "Are you hurt?"

"Hmm, it's nothing serious." Xu Sanyan exposed his arm, a narrow, long wound was oozing fresh blood.

He had considered all this beforehand and deliberately made a cut on his arm.

Dog Clan members have keen senses of smell, especially accompanying dogs, which are even more sensitive to scents. Even if he was careful, he would inevitably get blood Qi on himself, so he simply cut himself.

Xun An Cai didn't think much of it and lovingly went forward to bandage him. "You've suffered."

Xu Sanyan affectionately caressed her cheek. "It's not suffering. As long as I see you, everything is worth it."

It wasn't him who suffered, but the several Clan Elders whose bodies were separated from their heads.

The disappearance of several Clan Elders went unnoticed for a while. Earlier, during the beast commotion, they were thought to have gone to help. It wasn't until much later, when they still hadn't returned, that someone noticed.

"This is bad, Clan Chief, my father is gone!"

A shout came from outside the cave. Xun An Cai quickly got up. "Xun Jie is gone?"

Xun Jie was indeed one of the Clan Elders.

"Yes, could he have been bitten to death by a wild beast?"

Xun An Cai frowned in thought. "I didn't see your father earlier. I'll take people to look for him."

Xu Sanyan's mouth turned down at the corners upon hearing this. Go ahead and look. If they're fast enough, they might even find a few bones.

Xun An Cai turned back and instructed, "You stay here. I'll go out and see."

"Hmm, be careful." Xu Sanyan urged with concern.

After Xun An Cai left, Xu Sanyan looked around the cave. When the Old Clan Leader was here, the cave was filled with herbs and animal organs.

But now that Xun An Cai was the Clan Chief, she wasn't interested in those things and gathered them all into a pile in the corner, leaving the wooden table suddenly empty.

The dried meat hanging on the wall emitted a strange smell, and coupled with the lack of ventilation in the cave, a peculiar odor constantly permeated the air.

Soon after, Xun An Cai returned.

"How was it? Did you find them?" Xu Sanyan quickly asked, appearing very concerned.

Xun An Cai glanced at Xu Sanyan, shaking her head with a somewhat inexplicable expression. "Didn't find them. They might have been bitten to death by wild beasts. It's just, I don't know why, all five Clan Elders are gone…"

Although Xun An Cai was somewhat naive before, she wasn't foolish. Especially after becoming the Clan Chief, she started thinking about more things, and her mind became more active with use.

Furthermore, her horizons broadened, and her perspective on matters changed, allowing her to see many things more clearly.

She knew that the five Clan Elders had issues with Xu Sanyan because those five, plus Xun Stone, had warned her more than once to be careful of Xu Sanyan.

Moreover, not long ago, Xun Stone also died. Although Xu Sanyan couldn't be blamed for that incident—it was Xun Stone's own doing—he did die in the end.

Now, the five Clan Elders had also disappeared. It seemed as if anyone who opposed him came to no good end.

It was too coincidental. Xun An Cai couldn't help but suspect if Xu Sanyan was behind this.

Xu Sanyan's face showed sorrow, and he sighed with a low voice, "What a pity… They were knowledgeable, and now they've disappeared without a trace. It's truly a great loss for the Dog Clan."

Xun An Cai's eyes held sadness. Although she had a guess in her heart, she didn't say it directly. Instead, she changed the subject, "Once your injury heals, I'll take you to pray for blessings."

"Mm."

Xu Sanyan pondered for a moment and then said, "These four prayers were promised to me by the Old Clan Leader, and they are what I deserve. If I need more prayers in the future, I will exchange things with you, such as weapons, armor, or other living supplies."

The Dog Clan lacked food, and it was very easy for him to obtain food; he only needed to give an order, and someone would naturally prepare it for him.

The reason he hadn't mentioned it before was due to two considerations: first, he wanted to use food as an important bargaining chip, saving it to exchange for higher-level prayers.

As the number of prayers increased, the resources consumed by the Dog Clan also grew. If he wanted to exchange, he would need more bargaining chips, and food was suitable.

Second, he had forgotten about it and only just remembered.
