28: So what if he is the chosen one of heaven?

The young man's face was filled with shock and anger, and he quickly scrambled to his feet. He hadn't expected this person to attack without a word, and he was unprepared, which was why he suffered some minor injuries; his shoulder throbbed faintly.

"You'd best let me go, or don't blame me for fighting back," the young man threatened, his voice pale and weak.

Xu Sanyan could barely conceal his excitement. This young man clearly hadn't practiced martial arts; his stance was loose and he was completely defenseless.

But whether it was his speed when fleeing earlier, or his current state after taking a palm strike from him, it all proved that the strange item was in his hands!

Xu Sanyan bared his teeth, slowly drawing the long saber from his hand. "I'm very curious, can you defend against a blade?"

The young man's face changed. He knew he absolutely couldn't resist a saber or sword, so he turned and ran. Xu Sanyan pushed off the ground, and the long saber instantly thrust out, its tip imbued with Inner Energy, cutting a bone-deep gash into the young man's left leg.

"Ah!"

The young man cried out in pain, his hands flailing wildly, trying to resist. But this behavior, in Xu Sanyan's eyes, was full of openings. The saber light flashed, and the young man's body was already covered in bloodstains.

Xu Sanyan placed the saber against his neck. "Hand it over, and I'll spare your life."

The young man's eyes were filled with hatred. He didn't understand why, when he was the one who got the item first, there were always people trying to snatch it away.

He didn't want to hand it over. He had a vague feeling that this item might be his chance to change his destiny, his opportunity to escape the life of toiling in the fields that his ancestors had endured for thousands of years. He wanted to hold onto it tightly.

He wouldn't let go!

"Ah!"

The young man's face showed determination, his eyes fierce. A surge of Qi suddenly erupted around him, a blood-red mist completely enveloping him, forcing Xu Sanyan back.

"Don't force me!"

The young man's voice was hoarse, each word enunciated slowly, his eyes bloodshot, as if he wanted to devour someone.

Xu Sanyan was not surprised but rather delighted. What kind of strange item was this, to be able to transform a young man who knew nothing of martial arts or cultivation into his current state in just over a month?

He could actually fight back and forth with him, a dignified Inner Energy Mid-stage Martial Artist!

Terrifying!

But even more so, it was a pleasant surprise.

"Hahahahaha..."

Xu Sanyan laughed up to the sky. "Come on, let me see where your limit lies!"

"Ah!"

Seeing that he still wouldn't let him go, the young man, with blood-red eyes, charged forward, swinging his fists. A faint red mist enveloped the surface of his fists, exuding an imposing power.

Xu Sanyan was not flustered. Although the young man had excellent physical qualities, he knew nothing of martial arts, let alone fighting. He only knew how to swing his fists wildly.

This might work against ordinary people, but Xu Sanyan had fought his way out of piles of corpses. He had experienced countless battles over the past six months, and his combat experience was incredibly rich.

He merely shifted his body slightly, avoiding the punch, and then smoothly slipped into the young man's embrace. His shoulder twitched, and a powerful Iron Mountain Lean struck the young man's chest.

"Bang!"

With a muffled thud, the young man staggered back five or six steps, his face slightly flushed. It seemed that even with the red mist protecting him, he still didn't feel good after that blow.

Xu Sanyan's lips curved into a smile, and he gently waved his hand, signaling him to continue.

"Hah!"

The young man charged forward again. This time, he was smarter, using seven parts strength and reserving three for defense. Xu Sanyan, wanting to test his strength, imbued his left hand with Inner Energy and met punch with punch.

With a crisp "Crack!" sound, Xu Sanyan's fingers made a clear noise, and both of them retreated three steps.

"Hahahaha... Good!"

Xu Sanyan laughed excitedly, completely oblivious to the fractured knuckle in his left hand.

He had suffered countless injuries, many times barely returning from the brink of death. This small injury was nothing to him.

Xu Sanyan, however, was even more amazed by this young man. This child had incredibly high combat talent. After only a few exchanges, he already understood how to learn in battle, improving rapidly and becoming more proficient with each strike.

"Die!"

Seeing that his left hand's fingers were unnaturally bent backward, the young man knew he must be injured. Therefore, he seized the opportunity to launch a fierce attack, leaping high into the air and aiming a punch directly at Xu Sanyan's chest.

Xu Sanyan no longer dared to be arrogant. The young man's red mist had a very good suppressive effect on Inner Energy, and his Physical Body strength was also superior to his own. All he lacked was combat experience. If he dragged it out any longer, he really might suffer an unexpected defeat.

Xu Sanyan gripped his saber in a backhand grip, and his body shifted to the side, avoiding the fierce punch. The long saber then smoothly sliced across the young man's waist and ribs.

Although the red mist could suppress Inner Energy and enhance himself, it didn't offer much defense against a blade. A wound immediately appeared on his waist.

"Ah! I'll kill you!"

The young man roared, completely oblivious to his injury. His knees slightly bent, he pounced on him like a fierce tiger draped in red gauze.

In the darkness, the young man's body seemed to emit a faint, glowing blood-light. If it weren't for the life-and-death struggle in the arena, it would surely be a uniquely beautiful sight.

Unfortunately, neither of them had the mind to appreciate it, completely wasting this spectacle.

Xu Sanyan swiftly retreated, then suddenly stopped. The young man landed half a meter in front of him, precisely at the moment when his old strength was depleted and new strength had yet to emerge. A sharp long saber, accompanied by a whooshing sound, struck.

The young man's eyes widened, his face filled with panic. What a sinister strike!

But he also had to admit, the timing was too perfect, so perfect that the young man almost felt despair. He knew he couldn't dodge this strike.

Pfft—

The long saber pierced through the young man's shoulder. Xu Sanyan's wrist flicked, and a thick arm flew into the air, accompanied by the young man's desperate scream!

"Ah! My arm!"

The young man clutched his severed arm and stumbled to the ground, looking somewhat dejected, no longer possessing the ferocity he had moments ago.

Only now did Xu Sanyan dare to breathe a slight sigh of relief. He knew the young man's fighting spirit was gone, and he couldn't cause any more trouble.

He had used every means possible to defeat him. What a formidable young man, his combat talent was rarely seen in the world!

From his initial awkwardness and wild flailing, when Xu Sanyan could have taken his life in an instant, to almost fighting him evenly, constantly learning and improving in battle.

Xu Sanyan couldn't help but think of Ma Tianqing again. He was also a Genius young man, reaching the Perfection of Refining Essence at such a young age. Truly terrifying.

Xu Sanyan silently bent his left hand's fingers back into place, one by one. Excruciating pain surged through him, but his face remained expressionless.

The heroes of this world truly are like carp crossing the river, endless. In the small Northwest, two peerless Geniuses have already emerged. Looking at the whole world, who knows how many heroic figures there are.

Thinking of this, a sense of grandeur rose in Xu Sanyan's chest. If there were more such individuals in the world, it would truly be colorful and vibrant!

"Heh heh, what's your name?"

Xu Sanyan held the long saber, once again placing it against the young man's neck, just as before.

"If you want to kill, then kill. Don't speak anymore!"

Though defeated, the young man refused to bow his head. He only believed it was because he was too young; if he were given another year, this person would certainly not be his opponent.

Xu Sanyan bared his teeth. "Hand over that thing, and I'll give you a quick death."

"Never!"

The young man retorted without thinking.

Xu Sanyan's eyes slightly lowered, and he spoke faintly, "You're not afraid of death, but I wonder if your relatives and friends are. I hope when I slice them one by one later, you'll still be so stubborn."

Listening to his calm tone, the young man couldn't help but tremble. These common folk, in his eyes, were like pigs and dogs on a chopping block, ready for him to slaughter.

Those were living people.

"You Devil Head, let them go!"

The young man struggled, trying to get up. The sharp blade pressed down, leaving a trace of blood on his neck.

"If you die, and I don't get the item, I will still slice them up."

Xu Sanyan extinguished his desire for death.
