389: Disaster is about to happen!

“Crack!”

The lightning flashed, greatly diminished by the thick fog, and when it finally landed on the Old Man, it was already harmless.

“The first one!”

The Old Man counted silently in his heart. The last time his Revered Master broke through, he experienced a total of twelve Heavenly Tribulations. He felt that he should not be far off.

“Rumble~”

The second Heavenly Tribulation was even more violent, piercing through layers of fog and striking down.

A moment later,

“Rumble~”

The lightning dissipated, and the Purple-robed Old Man wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, muttering, “Eleven!”

Just one more to go!

Your Highness, the other two Old Men exchanged glances, both seeing the worry in each other's eyes.

The pressure from heaven and earth grew heavier; the twelfth Heavenly Tribulation would not be so easy to pass.

Moreover, even if he passed the last Heavenly Tribulation, what then? There were still two other trials waiting for him.

Breaking through could not be stopped midway; he had to break through all three trials in one go.

“Rumble rumble~!!!”

The final Lightning Tribulation brewed, lightning flashing incessantly in the sky. The Disciples of Wenxian Mountain all looked up simultaneously, but could see nothing through the obscuring fog.

“Crack!”

“Pfft~~”

Only the sound of lightning striking was heard, and the Purple-robed Old Man's flesh and blood ruptured, a mouthful of fresh blood spurting out.

His purple robes were already tattered beyond recognition, dense wounds covered his entire body, and his hair was singed, presenting a truly miserable sight.

But no matter what, he was still alive!

He had successfully passed the first Heavenly Tribulation!

The second trial was the Yin Wind Trial, which did not require the Physical Body, only the Divine Soul.

At this moment, everyone's attention was drawn to the Purple-robed Old Man, completely unaware that the fog in the sky had grown even denser.

Not only was the fog dense on Wenxian Mountain, but it was also denser throughout the entire Luan Yun Mountain range.

“Whoosh~”

The yin wind blew, and the second trial arrived.

The Purple-robed Old Man was enveloped by the yin wind, and suddenly his figure stiffened. His mind began to become chaotic, as if heavy lead had been poured into his mind, making him muddled and his eyes blank.

He stared blankly at mid-air, realizing that his perspective was changing. He found that his vision could penetrate the mist.

Through the mist, he saw his junior Disciples, saw the great hall beneath his feet, and his gaze passed through the great hall, seeing the Grandmaster's divine statue.

The divine statue…

Why was it so strange?

The originally majestic and solemn Daoist image changed. The calm eyes slowly moved upwards, finally meeting his gaze.

A look of mockery appeared in the Grandmaster's divine statue's eyes, and its mouth curved slightly, as if mocking him for overestimating himself, actually daring to dream of Immortal Ascension.

The Purple-robed Daoist's mind jolted, feeling as if he had been struck by five bolts of lightning. He rubbed his eyes, thinking he had seen wrongly.

How could the divine statue move?

Although this divine statue had consumed countless treasures, it was ultimately a dead object. How could it move?

The Purple-robed Daoist's mouth slowly widened. He watched with wide eyes as the Grandmaster's divine statue cracked like shattered pottery, dense cracks appearing on its body, spreading like a spiderweb across its entire form.

Something inside the divine statue seemed to be wriggling violently, trying to break free from the pottery's confines and emerge.

“Crack~ Crack~ Crack~”

The divine statue's fragments fell to the ground one by one, a continuous series of fine 'cracking' sounds like mice gnawing on grain, making him increasingly terrified.

The cracks grew larger and larger, and the Grandmaster's divine statue's face became increasingly distorted with the appearance of the cracks, its eyes still staring fixedly at him.

The Purple-robed Old Man's heart trembled. Through the cracks, he saw it!

He saw what was hidden inside the divine statue!

At the same time, he also saw his two Junior Brothers sitting beside the divine statue. They seemed oblivious to the changes around them, still meditating with their eyes closed.

“Run!”

“Junior Brother, run!”

The Purple-robed Old Man roared with all his might, tearing at his throat. He wanted to warn his two Junior Brothers, but the two men sitting in the great hall seemed not to hear him, still remaining seated.

“Run!”

The Purple-robed Daoist flailed his arms and roared frantically. Not only did his two Junior Brothers not hear him, but even the Disciples below seemed oblivious.

“Whoosh~”

The yin wind dispersed the thick fog. A Disciple whispered, “Can Master succeed?”

“Silence.”

The scene returned to quietude.

But in the Purple-robed Daoist's ears, the sound of the stone statue fragments falling was so clear. He didn't understand why his two Junior Brothers couldn't hear it.

“Bang!”

Instantly, the divine statue shattered, fragments scattering everywhere, and the thing inside the divine statue completely broke free.

What a disgusting sight it was! The Purple-robed Old Man's eyes were bloodshot as he stared blankly at this scene.

It was like a skinned giant standing on the high platform, its shattered fragments like its clothes. The treasured sword originally held in the Grandmaster's stone statue's hand was now held in 'Its' hand.

At the giant's feet, the two Junior Brothers stood like attendants, guarding the divine statue on either side.

The giant's gaze contained madness and cruelty. Suddenly, it bared its teeth and let out a mad laugh, as if it had thought of something amusing.

The Purple-robed Old Man watched with wide eyes as the giant's large hand rested on the heads of the two men and twisted forcefully.

“Crack––”

The two Old Men instantly died.

“Junior Brother!”

The Purple-robed Old Man's eyes were about to split, and he struggled to try and save the two, but no matter how hard he tried, it was useless.

At the same time, the yin wind was still blowing on his Divine Soul, and his Divine Soul felt a sudden pain. With this pain, the Purple-robed Old Man suddenly had a moment of clarity. He seemed to understand something.

“No…”

“No!”

The Purple-robed Old Man became more and more certain that everything that had just happened might be an illusion.

No, it must be an illusion!

Otherwise, how could he explain why his two Junior Brothers were deaf to the statue beside them?

Both of them were also powerful cultivators who had broken through two barriers, not much weaker than him. It was impossible for them not to notice the anomaly beside them.

Furthermore, there were also many Disciples standing outside the great hall; it was impossible for them not to notice anything at all.

So, all of this was an illusion, all of it was the test of the Yin Wind Trial!

The Purple-robed Old Man grew more confident the more he thought about it. He watched with wide eyes as the monster devoured his two Junior Brothers, their internal organs spilling out and staining the surroundings red as it tore at them.

“Heh, don't even think about deceiving me!”

The Purple-robed Old Man smiled confidently. Since his Junior Brothers were fine, he was relieved, and even the intense pain in his Divine Soul seemed so insignificant.

A moment later, the scene before him changed, and the surrounding space shattered like pieces of a puzzle, revealing the world behind it.

The Purple-robed Daoist looked at the familiar thick fog, and could vaguely see the outlines of the Disciples beneath the great hall. He knew that he had broken through the illusion.

Although those Disciples couldn't see him, he could barely see them.

The Purple-robed Daoist's body was covered in wounds, and his Divine Soul had been swept by the yin wind, making him extremely weak at this moment, but he was smiling.

This was the Yin Wind Trial?

Was it too simple?

But the Purple-robed Daoist understood even less: if it was so simple, then why did his Master perish here?

Could it be that Master was really that weak?

The Purple-robed Daoist shook his head. What was the point of thinking so much? It was better to focus on the present. He didn't know what the third trial would be like yet.

As he pondered, he propped himself up and his gaze casually swept over the opening above the great hall, suddenly freezing in place.

In an instant, his mind went blank, and cold sweat immediately drenched his wounds.

That Grandmaster's divine statue…

Was looking up and meeting his gaze!
