388: Ask Xianshan

“K-killed…?”

Xiao Ran was filled with disbelief, staring blankly at the gruesome head in Young Master Lin’s hand, unsure how to react.

Although Ghost Beasts varied in strength, even the weakest Ghost Beast was comparable to a Foundation Establishment Completion Cultivator.

Moreover, they feared no death, were madly bloodthirsty, and could unleash twelve parts of power from ten parts of strength. How could they be so easily killed?

Yet, this Young Master Lin, as if strolling in a leisurely courtyard, took the Ghost Beast’s head in the blink of an eye, his clothes still neat, not even a trace of blood stained on him.

This person’s strength is unfathomable!

This thought emerged in Xiao Ran’s heart. He had never heard of this person’s name before, nor did he know the depth of his Cultivation. Earlier, he had a slight disdain, but now it all vanished into thin air.

At the same time, a thought surfaced in his mind: if he could build a good relationship with this person, perhaps the Xiao family disciples’ lives could be better in the future.

Since this Young Master Lin’s Cultivation is so profound, he must hold a high position in the Wang family. If they could gain his favor, everything would be fine.

The Xiao family Disciples were all stunned, watching Xu Sanyan slowly walk over, their hearts filled with mixed emotions.

There were those who admired him, those who envied him, and even some women with spring in their eyes, pondering how to approach him.

Admiration for strength is a base human instinct that even successful Cultivators cannot completely eliminate.

Some men also harbored fantasies, wondering how this Young Master Lin viewed same-sex true love.

In fact, those women didn’t need to be so conflicted; Xu Sanyan accepted all comers.

Of course, men were out of the question!

Xu Sanyan casually discarded the head, “Let’s go.”

Xiao Ran’s fawning smile grew wider as he quickly trotted forward to flatter him, “Young Master Lin’s Cultivation is peerless; dealing with mere Ghost Beasts is effortless for him. It truly fills us with admiration.”

Xu Sanyan glanced back expressionlessly, saying nothing.

Because Revered Masters are always men of few words.

This made it even harder for people to guess his thoughts, planting a seed of awe in their hearts.

Xiao Ran wasn’t embarrassed by the lack of a reply. He simply followed behind Xu Sanyan. Since this Young Master Lin’s strength was so profound, staying by his side would certainly be safer.

After resuming their journey, the Xiao family’s sense of unease significantly lessened, and their demeanor became more composed. After all, with such a great Cultivator escorting them, what was there to worry about?

This was a trustworthy and handsome Young Master.

Xu Sanyan thought so himself.

…

At the same time,

In a corner of Luan Yun Mountain, a majestic peak, like a sword, pierced straight into the clouds. The Immortal Mountain, usually surrounded by white clouds, was now shrouded in gray Mist Qi, losing some of its ethereal Immortal Qi.

This mountain was very famous yet quite mysterious. This was one of the three great Sects of Luan Yun Mountain—

Wenxian Mountain.

Wenxian Mountain Disciples rarely ventured out, and the world knew little about them, only that their Cultivation Technique was special. They did not cultivate magical power, did not pursue Realms, and secluded themselves to cultivate their minds.

It sounded like some kind of reclusive Sect, hiding in a mountain hollow, minding their own business, unconcerned with the outside world.

Little did they know that a major event was currently unfolding on Wenxian Mountain,

An event that, if successful, would be enough to overturn the cultivation world:

Breaking the Karma Barrier!!

Legends in the world say that if the Karma Barrier is broken, one immediately ascends to Immortality, will not enter Reincarnation, will not be bound by Karma, will roam freely between heaven and earth, and attain great freedom.

————

On Wenxian Mountain Peak,

Under the shroud of gray mist, a magnificent hall revealed its outline. In front, three wisps of smoke drifted, not very noticeable in the mist.

The hall was extremely spacious, almost covering half a mountain peak, with carved beams and painted pillars, exuding an extraordinary Aura.

It was supported by sky-reaching pillars on all four sides, and its walls were built from jade. A hall of this scale would require countless pieces of jade.

Currently, in the center of the hall, beneath a solemn Daoist statue, three immortal-like old men sat cross-legged.

The three sat in a triangular formation: one wore a Purple-robed, one a white robe, and the last wore a green robe.

Outside the hall, in the mist, twenty-odd people stood silently, including men, women, old, and young. All were quiet, patiently awaiting the outcome.

These were all the Disciples of Wenxian Mountain. Even including the three old men, there were fewer than thirty people.

But with this small number, they supported such a large Sect, which showed how extraordinary they were.

Outside the hall, three long sticks of incense emitted wisps of smoke, and a faint fragrance filled the entire mountain peak. The large cauldron below already contained a lot of incense ash, indicating that the incense had been burning for a long time.

Perhaps because of the incense, or for some other reason, the mist grew thicker.

A young Disciple, unable to bear the solitude, curiously extended a finger and wiggled it in front of his eyes, but could only see a blurry shadow.

Unable to see one’s own hand!

The mist was now so dense to this extent.

As time passed, the long incense slowly burned out. The three old men remained motionless under the statue, as if they had passed away.

“Whoosh~”

A sudden breeze, from who knows where, swiftly swept over the tail of the incense stick in the cauldron. The incense quickly burned up, and in a short while, it completely extinguished.

At the same time, the three old men simultaneously opened their eyes. The Purple-robed Old Man nodded slightly to the other two, as if conveying some information, or perhaps making a final farewell.

The two old men felt a faint worry in their hearts, but they knew that at this point, worrying was useless. They could only silently pray.

“Boom~!”

Suddenly, a peal of heavenly thunder exploded. The mist floating in the sky seemed to be annihilated by the lightning, leaving a sliver of blank space. Through this sliver, one could vaguely see the clear sky outside the mist.

But in a short while, it was covered by the mist again.

“Boom~”

The thunder rumbled again, as if right beside their ears. Everyone outside the hall now knew that the barrier-breaking was about to begin.

The Purple-robed Old Man took a final glance back at the statue, then flew out without looking back, standing alone atop the great hall.

There was a large opening above the hall, directly above the Divine Soul’s head. If the weather was clear, sunlight passing through the opening and shining on the Divine Soul would emit thousands of golden rays, appearing incredibly solemn.

“Karma Barrier…”

The Purple-robed Old Man took a deep breath, fully prepared in his heart.

In fact, he had started preparing ten years ago, intending to break through the barrier and achieve Immortal Ascension on the day of Mist Time!

Breaking the Karma Barrier required passing through three stages: the Physical Body stage, the Divine Soul stage, and the Heart stage.

The three stages corresponded to the Yang Lightning Tribulation, the Yin Wind Tribulation, and the Blazing Fire Tribulation.

The Yang Lightning strikes the Physical Body, severing familial Bloodline. The Yin Wind blows through the Divine Soul, taking away Karma and retribution. The Blazing Fire burns away everything internal and external, leaving nothing to affect the heart.

If these three stages are broken, one immediately attains Immortal Ascension.

Of course, no one from Wenxian Mountain has achieved Immortal Ascension yet, but according to records, the first Grandmaster achieved Immortal Ascension using this method, so this method must work!

Wenxian Mountain Disciples never doubted that the Cultivation Technique had a problem; they only felt that they themselves were not capable enough.

The last time someone from Wenxian Mountain attempted to break the barrier was three hundred years ago. That person was the Revered Master of the three old men. Unfortunately, he failed to break the barrier, only passing the first stage and dying in the second stage when his Divine Soul was dispersed by the Yin Wind.

Now, using Mist Time to weaken the power of the Yang Lightning is the method the Purple-robed Old Man learned from his Revered Master.
