367: Xun Shitou's death

Xun An Cai's thick eyebrows furrowed tightly.

She looked in the direction Xun Stone had run from and saw Xu Sanyan hiding behind a tree.

Her heart immediately filled with alarm, and she quickly shouted at the top of her lungs, "Run!"

Xu Sanyan seemed not to hear, his gaze still fixed on Xun Stone.

"Rumble~"

Just over thirty black sheep created the Aura of ten thousand beasts stampeding, like a mighty torrent rushing forward, intent on tearing apart everything in its path.

The distance closed.

Xu Sanyan could now clearly see the fur on the black sheep's bodies and the sharp horns on their heads.

He could also see the sinister smile on Xun Stone's lips.

To others, Xu Sanyan seemed to have been scared silly, frozen in place, at a loss.

Xun An Cai's heart was filled with terror, her eyes wide.

Without time to think, her body instinctively rushed towards Xu Sanyan, but it was too late; the black sheep herd was right in front of them.

Xun Stone pushed off with his legs, leaping up not far from Xu Sanyan.

He grabbed a tree branch above his head, and his entire body seemed to float as he flipped in mid-air, landing with extreme agility on the treetop.

The black sheep continued to charge headlong.

Although they had lost sight of Xun Stone, Xu Sanyan now stood before them.

In the eyes of the black sheep, there was no difference between the two; both were invaders trespassing on their territory.

Xun Stone grinned, feeling very pleased.

He knew Xu Sanyan possessed a strange method of harming people from a distance, but after several observations, he discovered this method had a clear weakness.

That was distance.

Each time Xu Sanyan made a move, it was always close to the target, whether it was the Bear Clan incident or the Snake Clan incident.

Therefore, Xun Stone calculated the distance and the direction, ensuring everything was perfectly planned before making his decision.

But he didn't know that Xu Sanyan had achieved a Breakthrough.

His cultivation had advanced from initial Soul Refining to intermediate Soul Refining, his Soul Power increasing by nearly double, thus significantly extending his spellcasting range.

This distance was just right!

Xu Sanyan watched the black sheep stampede past Xun Stone's feet.

Seizing the opportune moment, he thought, and in the Void Realm, two sharp spikes began to spin, instantly appearing before Xun Stone.

"Ah~!!"

Xun Stone suddenly let out a scream, his grip loosening, and he fell from the tree.

Just then, the black sheep herd swept past below.

"Stone Bro!!"

The clansmen ambushing nearby watched helplessly as Xun Stone lost his grip and fell into the black sheep herd.

Their hearts immediately filled with urgency, and they quickly shouted.

"Oh no, Stone Bro fell down!"

Instantly, the screams became even more piercing, then were drowned out by the roars and stampeding sounds of the black sheep.

Immediately, crimson blood splattered, chunks of flesh flew, and faintly, there was the sound of bones being crushed.

Seeing his objective achieved, Xu Sanyan seemed to just come to his senses, a look of panic on his face.

He turned and hugged the Five-Headed Dog beside him, shouting, "Run!"

The Five-Headed Dog dashed along the edge of the trap.

Behind them, black sheep leaped up, their sharp horns glinting coldly in the sunlight, pouncing directly at Xu Sanyan.

But the deep pit was too wide.

The black sheep lost momentum in mid-air and crashed heavily into the deep pit.

"Roar~~~!!"

The black sheep cried out in pain, wooden stakes piercing their bodies.

They didn't die immediately but lost all power to resist.

Then came the second, the third...

Black sheep continuously crashed into the pit, their roars incessant.

Some black sheep fortunately didn't fall into the trap, but the Dog Clan people had been waiting for a long time, and they all drew their weapons and met them.

Seeing Xu Sanyan out of danger, a great weight finally lifted from Xun An Cai's heart.

She turned and joined the battle.

Some black sheep fell into the pit but were not injured.

They used all four hooves to leap out.

Before it could steady itself, a gleaming cold light appeared before its eyes.

With careful planning against unthinking aggression, the black sheep herd was quickly dealt with, leaving only a few still weakly howling in the deep pit.

Xu Sanyan, embracing the Five-Headed Dog, hid in a corner, surveying the entire battlefield.

None of the thirty-odd black sheep escaped; even the last one fought to the death, showing their ferocity.

But fierce as they were, their lack of intelligence was their fatal flaw; otherwise, they wouldn't have fallen into the trap so easily.

The battlefield was a mess.

The Dog Clan people had clear divisions of labor: some tended to the wounded, some dismembered the prey, and some jumped into the deep pit to finish off the black sheep that weren't dead yet.

Just then, someone suddenly looked up and asked, "Where's Stone Bro?"

Another person's eyes showed sadness, pointing to the ground where the sheep herd had just passed.

There was a patch of crimson minced meat, extremely conspicuous.

"There...that's all that's left."

Xu Sanyan squinted, looking.

Xun Stone was no longer recognizable as human, unable even to be pieced back into a human form.

Xun An Cai, swinging her long saber, came to Xu Sanyan's side and scrutinized him for a moment.

"You're not hurt, are you?"

Xu Sanyan shook his head, looking at the pile of minced meat, and said sadly, "I'm fine, it's just Xun Stone..."

Xun An Cai shook her head, not suspecting Xu Sanyan at all.

Instead, she comforted him, "Alas...hunting is always full of danger."

She was already used to it; someone always had to be sacrificed every time they went hunting.

Xu Sanyan nodded in agreement, "Yes...life is always full of danger."

Of course, if there was no danger, then he would be the greatest danger.

Xu Sanyan murmured, "Rest in peace.

When you get down there, say hello to the Old Clan Leader for me."

"You stay here for now; I'll go help."

Xun An Cai stepped forward to help dismember the bodies.

"Mm."

Xu Sanyan rode the Five-Headed Dog, wandering around, watching them work.

For now, no one suspected him of Xun Stone's death.

Perhaps some did, but just didn't say anything.

The prey's carcasses needed to be dissected quickly, removing easily perishable organs and other parts, and setting aside the long-lasting parts to take back to the tribe.

After a while, all thirty-odd black sheep were processed.

The foul-smelling organs were piled together, emitting a particularly strong odor.

Xun An Cai took out a packet of powder and sprinkled it evenly on the meat.

The stench immediately lessened considerably, but one could still smell it if they paid close attention.

"Let's eat these for the next few days."

Xun An Cai pointed to the pile of organs; these things wouldn't last for more than a few days.

Xu Sanyan looked up at the mountain of black sheep meat and asked softly, "Is this not enough?"

From her words, it seemed they would have to stay on this South Mountain for a few more days.

Xun An Cai shook her head, "How could this little bit be enough?

The tribe has four or five hundred people; they need to eat for dozens of days.

Even if we eat sparingly, it won't be enough."

Xu Sanyan nodded.

Being the Clan Chief wasn't easy; one had to be responsible for the survival of the entire clan, a mountain of troublesome matters.

But these things also tempered people greatly.

Xu Sanyan noticed that Xun An Cai had become much more stable in her actions recently, and she wasn't particularly reliant on him anymore; she didn't proactively consult him on many matters.

This was not a good sign...

Although her concern for him hadn't changed, what he wanted was not just concern.

Xu Sanyan lowered his head slightly, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

If Xun An Cai broke free of his control, then...

Perhaps he could emulate Empress Dowager Cixi.

Of course, he wasn't referring to ceding territory and paying indemnities.
