112: Section 112
Hearing these conclusions, Jing Yuan felt a sense of relief. "Does that mean I'll be fine after going back and getting some sleep?"
"That's more or less it," Carrie replied.
Jing Yuan stood up and looked at Carrie, asking, "Dr. Carrie, don't you also want to research whether there's a connection between me and the mana ecology?"
"Yes." Carrie was a straightforward person who never hid her intentions or actions.
"Alright! Once you have results, let Lord Morgan know as well."
"Aren't you afraid that if the results show you're connected to the ecology, the entire Lighthouse will view you as an enemy?"
Jing Yuan smiled. "The Lighthouse wouldn't want to face an enemy like me!"
After saying that, Jing Yuan departed alone.
Mark stayed behind and said to Carrie, "If the results show he has no relation to the ecology, tell Lord Morgan. If there is a connection, tell only me."
Carrie smiled. "I understand that logic, of course. However, I should remind you of one thing. Researching the relationship between Jing Yuan and the ecology is purely out of my curiosity. For a man like him, regardless of whether he's connected to the ecology, it's best to be friends and never enemies."
Mark gave Carrie a somewhat surprised look. He hadn't expected this woman, who usually seemed indifferent to worldly affairs, to have such insight... Jing Yuan returned to his residence and slept for a long time.
He slept deeply, without even dreaming.
When he woke up, his mental state had recovered significantly.
Jing Yuan looked out the window; it was still daytime.
"You're awake?"
Jing Yuan looked back and saw it was Penny.
"Why are you here?"
"Captain Mark said your symptoms weren't serious and that you'd be fine after some sleep. But I was still worried, so I came to check on you."
"How long did I sleep?"
"About twenty-some hours!"
"That long?" Jing Yuan was surprised himself.
"Yes, a long time. Drink some water first! I'll go to the cafeteria and bring back some food for you."
Jing Yuan took the water, finished it in one go, and then got out of bed.
"No need, I'll just go to the cafeteria to eat myself."
Jing Yuan took a shower, got dressed, and left with Penny.
"Nothing happened while I was asleep, right?"
"Charles's former subordinates tried to rescue him, but they were stopped by Snow Peak and the others. At the Light and Shadow Society, a few people tried to incite a riot among the believers, but they were also brought under control by Chu Feng and his team."
Jing Yuan sighed. "The reform of the Light and Shadow Society won't be completed overnight. For now, we still need to use the three great laws and the Light and Shadow Society to maintain the stability of the Lighthouse."
Penny asked in confusion, "After you displayed that miracle at the Light and Shadow Society that day, many believers turned to your side. But doesn't that make what you're doing just like what Charles did?"
"Yes," Jing Yuan smiled. "But as soon as we find those Ground People and obtain the method for cultivating superpowers, this system will quickly collapse."
"A method for cultivating superpowers?"
"Yes, they call it Source Essence Potential awakening." Jing Yuan looked back at Penny. "Don't you want to know what your potential is?"
"I can do it too?"
"Of course, everyone has a chance."
...Jing Yuan and Penny arrived at the cafeteria.
As usual, Jing Yuan went to the window to get his food.
The cook inside smiled at Jing Yuan and said, "Lord Leader, why have you come to the cafeteria to eat in person?"
Jing Yuan was puzzled. "What? Can someone else do the eating for me?"
The cook laughed. "You could simply arrange for us to prepare it for you at the Law Enforcement Office."
Jing Yuan was stunned. "Is that how Charles used to do it?"
"Yes."
"There's no need for that anymore; I'll be coming to the cafeteria to eat."
"Very well."
...After leaving the cafeteria, Jing Yuan and Penny went to the Law Enforcement Office.
Although this place was called the Law Enforcement Office and was in charge of the Lighthouse's laws, Charles had turned it into his own private club.
Jing Yuan arrived at a hall where a long table was set up.
Once, Jing Yuan and Charles had shared lunch here.
"Lord Leader!" A fawning Law Enforcer walked toward Jing Yuan.
"It's you?"
Chapter 115: Searching for the Light Bearers
Jing Yuan looked at this Law Enforcer; he was the one who often flattered Charles.
"Lord Leader remembers me?"
"What is your name?"
"My name is Buri, the Chief Blessing Officer of the Lighthouse."
Jing Yuan sat down in the main seat and looked at Buri. "Why are you still here?"
Seeing this, Buri stepped forward, bowed, and smiled. "Besides my usual blessings, I can also assist you, Lord Leader, in handling trivial matters."
Jing Yuan stared at him. "I was asking, where were you when Charles launched the coup?"
Buri was someone who knew how to adapt to the situation; now that Charles's coup had failed, there was no way he would still follow him.
He quickly knelt and said to Jing Yuan, "Lord Leader, I had no knowledge of what the former Leader was doing!"
Jing Yuan looked at him with disdain. "I thought you were loyal to Charles, but I didn't expect you to be this kind of person. If you had stayed by Charles's side and launched the coup with him, I would have at least respected you a little."
Buri looked up at Jing Yuan in shock; the temperament of this new Leader was truly hard to grasp.
"The Light and Shadow Society will no longer have the position of Blessing Officer. Go to the Management Department yourself and have them arrange a job for you as a Dust Citizen! Remember, a Dust Citizen's job. Don't make me arrange it, or you won't even have a job."
Buri knew that this new Leader was someone who could kill without blinking.
"Yes..." Buri scrambled out of the hall on all fours.
Penny said from the side, "These guys used to rely on Charles to oppress even the Upper Citizens. Now it's only right to let them experience the life of a Dust Citizen."
Jing Yuan looked back at her and smiled. "Seeing how indignant you are, how about I make you the new Light Bearer?"
Penny looked disgusted. "I don't want that."
Jing Yuan laughed; he was just joking. In the future, the Light and Shadow Society wouldn't even need the position of Light Bearer.
Thinking of this, Jing Yuan suddenly paused.
Where did the Light Bearers Vandy and Fan Lü go?
When Charles started the gunfight at the lift platform, neither of the two Light Bearers was present.
Usually, Charles kept them by his side.
Later, at the Light and Shadow Society, they weren't seen either.
"Penny, have you seen those two Light Bearers?"
"The Light Bearers?" Penny thought back. "You mean Vandy and Fan Lü?"
"Yes! We haven't seen them since we returned to the Lighthouse."
"I haven't seen them either."
Jing Yuan's expression turned grave. The two Light Bearers themselves were insignificant.
What Jing Yuan worried about was whether Charles had left a hidden card.
After all, the situation had completely deviated from the original plot, and Jing Yuan didn't know what would happen in the future.
Regardless, he had to find the two of them first.
The Lighthouse was only so big; where could they escape to?
Among Charles's capable subordinates, Sharif and Loriv had been incapacitated, and Senge had been captured.
Vandy and Fan Lü, two women, likely couldn't stir up much trouble.
But to be safe, Jing Yuan still took men to personally search for the two on the Lighthouse.
