84: Section 84
"These things have just been brought out; there hasn't been time to categorize and organize them yet."
Jing Nan walked into the Workshop and pointed at a Greatsword, saying, "You like using blades when piloting a gravity body. I'm sure you'll like this."
Jing Yuan looked in the direction she was pointing and saw an unremarkable gravity body Greatsword.
"Is there something special about this blade?"
"This is a war blade with a plasma light blade!"
Jing Yuan stared at the war blade. He suddenly remembered that after the spaceship mission ended, the next time Mark went to The Surface was when he smashed the Hall of Dawn and went to fetch medicine for Morgan.
In the battle against the Calyx Beast, Mark had used a plasma light blade battle saber.
Fighting a Calyx Beast—that was a brutal battle.
If Mark hadn't been exhausted at the end, he wouldn't have been backstabbed by 4068.
"How many of these plasma blade war blades are there?"
"There's only one ready-made, but there are some raw materials that can be assembled."
"How long will assembly take?"
"A day or two." Jing Nan asked curiously, "Do you need two war blades?"
Jing Yuan smiled. "Shouldn't you equip one for Captain Mark?"
Jing Nan was somewhat surprised. "You're quite concerned about Mark."
Jing Yuan smiled but didn't say anything. It wasn't about being concerned for Mark; it was because the upcoming battle would be too difficult with too many variables.
"What kind of upgrades can our gravity bodies get?"
"This batch of supplies includes a new type of power source. Now, while ensuring your gravity body's mobility, we can also equip you with long-range weapons."
"No need. Let's continue to improve its melee performance instead!"
"But the melee performance of your gravity body has already reached its limit. It can't be improved any further."
Jing Yuan felt a bit disappointed. Based on the last time he controlled a gravity body, if its performance couldn't be improved, he would have to give up on it.
While chatting with Jing Nan, Jing Yuan looked at the room full of supplies. In a corner, he spotted a set of black armor.
He picked up the armor and examined it closely. It was made entirely of metal, looked very strong, and provided full-body coverage from head to toe.
Jing Nan explained from the side, "This is just a simple set of defensive armor. It has no power system."
Jing Yuan looked at the armor, liking it more the more he saw it.
If he didn't use a gravity body, he indeed needed a set of armor for self-defense.
"Can I try it on?"
"As you wish."
Having said that, Jing Yuan took off his coat and put on the armor.
Although this armor had no power, it had a smart-wear system, making it very easy to put on.
Soon, Jing Yuan had the armor on his body.
Jing Yuan moved his body around. He found that even though the battle armor was covered in metal, its flexibility was not lacking at all. It seemed designed for melee combat.
"Who was this battle armor designed for?"
Jing Nan shook her head and said, "I'm not sure either."
The battle armor was brought back from the spaceship ruins.
In the old world, those who could board the spaceship were either wealthy or powerful. The weapons and equipment left on the ship might be the best from the old world.
"Can I have this battle armor?"
"No problem. Just exchange it for contribution points according to the regulations!"
"Can't it be charged to the public account in the name of the Wasteland Hunters?"
Jing Nan asked in confusion, "You're a gravity body pilot. Having a gravity body is enough. Why do you need armor? Don't tell me you want to wear armor inside the gravity body?"
"Is that not allowed?"
"It's redundant!"
Jing Yuan smiled. A gravity body was essentially power armor. Wearing armor inside armor was indeed redundant and inconvenient.
Jing Nan glanced at him and said, "If you like it, take it!"
Jing Yuan was stunned. "Just take it?"
"Was I not clear enough?" Jing Nan said softly. "Anyway, you guys were the ones who brought these supplies back. What does it matter if you take a few items?"
Jing Yuan smiled. "Then, thank you."
"With this armor, you can stop using that 3D-printed stuff, right?"
Chapter 86: The Long Journey
Jing Yuan was puzzled. "Why do you want me to stop printing?"
Jing Nan said, "Aren't the things you're printing parts for armor?"
"Armor?"
Jing Yuan smiled. So that was what Jing Nan thought.
No wonder. Scale-shaped, and requiring 108 pieces—thinking it over, only making armor would require such things.
Jing Yuan explained, "No, those aren't for making armor."
"If not armor, then what?"
Jing Nan was very curious about what Jing Yuan was making. She hadn't pressed him before because she thought she would understand once she saw it in the Workshop.
As it turned out, once she arrived at the Workshop, she couldn't understand it, so she simply asked directly.
"This little gadget has the same function as armor: defense."
"It seems you don't want to tell me the truth."
Jing Yuan felt helpless. If he were to tell the truth, there would be too much to say.
"You can think of it as a shield."
The assembled form of the scale disks was an oval disc, which indeed looked similar to a shield.
"We have shields in our warehouse."
"This is a special shield."
"First armor, then a shield—what exactly are you planning to do?" Jing Nan began to question him. "If it's to deal with Phage Beasts, you don't need to go to such great lengths."
Jing Yuan gave an awkward smile. "If not to deal with Phage Beasts, then who would I be dealing with?"
Jing Nan looked at Jing Yuan. He had just asked for a set of armor, which made her think of a possibility.
After all, armor was useless against Phage Beasts. Armor was only useful against people.
"I'm curious too!" Jing Nan stared at Jing Yuan and asked a direct question: "Is it Charles? Or Mark?"
Jing Nan's words made Jing Yuan even more puzzled. Dealing with Charles wasn't hard to understand, but what about dealing with Mark?
He asked curiously, "Why do you think I want to deal with Mark?"
"By supporting Charles, you can continue to enjoy the life you want. But if you support Mark, you won't get any of this."
Jing Yuan smiled. In her view, Jing Yuan might be helping Mark, or he might be helping Charles.
And now, although Mark had been designated as the City Lord's successor, it was still anyone's game.
"I support Mark! What about you?"
"Oh?" Jing Nan smiled. "If Mark becomes the City Lord, he won't be sending you to the Hall of Dawn."
Jing Yuan smiled and said, "Do you really think I like going to the Hall of Dawn?"
Jing Nan didn't answer. Men were all the same. They'd say they didn't like it, but if they were actually assigned to the Hall, they'd run there faster than anyone.
"I believe Mark becoming City Lord can bring new changes to the Lighthouse, so I support Mark! What about you?" Jing Yuan asked again.
"I support whoever leads the Lighthouse toward the future!"
After saying that, Jing Nan walked ahead.
Jing Yuan followed her. "If Charles had your breadth of mind, the Lighthouse wouldn't be in such a foul state!"
"I don't have to be him, and he won't be me!"
Jing Yuan smiled faintly as he followed Jing Nan out of the Research Department gates... That night, after Charles returned from Morgan's place, he flew into a rage once again.
"On what basis!"
After Charles smashed several vases in his residence, Fan Lü hurried over.
