47: Section 47

After the results were announced, everyone who saw Jing Yuan would address him as: “Vice-Captain Jing Yuan!”

Chu Feng even organized a celebration for Jing Yuan.

Besides the five newcomers in Jing Yuan’s team, they also invited Penny, Erica, and others.

Finally, even Mark and Ran Bing were pulled along to celebrate at Jing Yuan’s residence.

Jing Yuan’s place had never been so lively before.

Almost all of the younger generation of Wasteland Hunters came.

Upon learning that Jing Yuan was celebrating his success with Mark, Charles felt very uneasy.

Although angry, he quickly calmed down, as he had a backup plan.

The next day, Charles again summoned a Law Enforcer and brought Jing Yuan to the Law Enforcement Office.

Looking at Jing Yuan, who was still a bit sleepy-eyed, Charles smiled, “It seems you all had a great time last night! Vice-Captain Jing Yuan!”

Jing Yuan smiled and said, “Yes. I originally wanted to invite the Leader to join us yesterday, but we couldn’t find him.”

Charles smiled faintly. How could the dignified Leader of the Light and Shadow Society mix with you?

“There’s something about yesterday’s matter that I don’t understand. Could you explain it to me?”

“What is it?”

“You had already completed your mission; you could have returned directly. Why did you still go to rescue others?”

Jing Yuan frowned and asked, “Leader, what do you mean by that? Should the others not have been rescued?”

Charles smiled, “I just don’t understand if you’re overly confident in your skills, or if you have other intentions?”

“Leader,” Jing Yuan said with a smile, “Those who went to The Surface for the mission yesterday, no matter whose people they are, they are all citizens of Lighthouse. If you let them die, even if you become City Lord in the future, who will you use? Senge of the City Defense Force? Or your Law Enforcers?”

Charles looked at Jing Yuan with a gloomy gaze: “What do you mean by that?”

“Then I’ll be more direct. Leader, our enemies are the Phage Beasts and the mana ecology, not our own people.”

Smack!

Charles slammed the table in anger, saying, “I don’t need you to teach me how to do things!”

Jing Yuan narrowed his eyes at Charles. Is he that arrogant?

Charles stared at Jing Yuan and said, “If I can put you in this position, I can also pull you down. Don’t forget the difference in our statuses.”

Jing Yuan, however, laughed, “I don’t care about this status. All I care about is survival. Leader, perhaps one day you will understand that for everyone to survive, the things you care about now are insignificant!”

Charles remained silent.

He wanted a dog, and in Charles’s eyes now, Jing Yuan was still a very difficult dog to tame.

But he still had methods.

However, for Jing Yuan, he had already offered his advice.

The current Charles still made it difficult for him to see hope.

Jing Yuan left without a word.

Charles did not stop him.

Fan Lü appeared beside Charles and whispered, “Leader…”

Charles raised his hand, signaling her not to say more.

“Don’t worry, as a pawn, one only needs to grasp his weakness.” Charles smiled sinisterly: “If there’s no weakness, we’ll create one for him.”

“Yes!”

Chapter 48 Informing Jing Nan

After leaving the Law Enforcement Office, Jing Yuan went directly to the Navigation Control Room.

“I need to see Commander Jing Nan, please inform her.”

There were two guards at the entrance of the Navigation Control Room.

Jing Yuan stated his purpose, and one of the guards entered the Navigation Control Room to find Jing Nan.

Soon, Jing Nan walked out, a little surprised to see Jing Yuan looking for her.

“What do you need me for?”

Jing Yuan smiled, “Commander Jing Nan, could we speak in private?”

Jing Nan nodded and led Jing Yuan to a secluded spot.

“In private, you can just call me Jing Nan.”

“No! I was ignorant of the rules before, please forgive me.”

Jing Nan didn’t know what Jing Yuan intended, but she didn’t want to overthink it. “No one can hear us here, just speak directly!”

“Alright.” Jing Yuan took out a tablet computer and pulled up the images from Mark’s last mission for the new recruits’ assessment. “These are the reconnaissance details from the last mission. While reviewing these pictures, I found many images containing critical information had been deleted.”

Jing Nan’s face showed shock.

“This critical information is about the movements of the Phage Beasts. I haven’t seen the original pictures, but I’ve experienced the situation on The Surface; it’s impossible not to observe so many Phage Beasts. The information provided by the Command Center was inaccurate, leading to problems with the strategies formulated by the Wasteland Hunters based on that information. This ultimately resulted in significant casualties. Commander Jing Nan, do you think it’s appropriate for Captain Mark to take the blame for this?”

“Where did you get this information?”

“Naturally, from your Data Room.”

“Who let you in?”

Jing Yuan shook his head and smiled, “I certainly can’t tell you that.”

Jing Nan, of course, understood, but there was no need to know.

Jing Yuan had originally intended to tell Mark directly, but seeing Mark’s conversation with Jing Nan yesterday, he knew that even if he told Mark, Mark would just have Jing Nan investigate, so he might as well tell Jing Nan directly.

“Commander Jing Nan, even for this mission, the reconnaissance information is problematic. We are only conducting a Deputy Captain selection, and the chosen coordinates shouldn’t have so many Phage Beasts. But in reality, all these points have Phage Beasts. This kind of information error is terrifying and detestable. If we’re not careful, how many personnel will the Wasteland Hunters lose? Commander Jing Nan, have you considered this?”

Jing Nan looked at Jing Yuan. His special visit to her wouldn’t be as simple as just relaying this information.

“Who do you think is doing this?”

Jing Yuan shook his head and said, “Who did it isn’t important! Commander Jing Nan, the Wasteland Hunters go to The Surface to perform missions to collect supplies for Lighthouse. The reconnaissance information provided should be accurate! If this continues, and the Wasteland Hunters are wiped out, who will go down to collect supplies?”

Jing Nan fell into thought.

Jing Yuan, of course, knew who was doing it, but was it meaningful to say so? Would Morgan personally kill his own son?

The result he wanted was simply accurate information and no more messing around next time.

And Jing Nan was capable of ensuring that.

“I understand.” Jing Nan nodded, not saying much more.

“Then I’ll take my leave.”

With that, Jing Yuan departed.

After leaving the Navigation Control Room, Jing Yuan, realizing he had some free time, decided to go to the Workshop to check on 4277’s work progress.

As he neared the Workshop, Jing Yuan inadvertently heard the sound of an argument.

Jing Yuan was puzzled, as few people came to this area. Who could be arguing?

“I told you not to meddle in my business, why did you still follow me?”

“I haven’t seen you all day recently; I was worried about you.”

“I said, I’m working! Working, do you understand?”

“Then what kind of work are you doing?”

“I can’t say; the work requires confidentiality. I’m a person of my word.”

“You’re working for an Upper Citizen, aren’t you!”

“So what if I am?”

“Then what kind of work are you doing? Why won’t you say?”

Listening to the voices, one male and one female, the female was clearly 4277, so who was the male?

Jing Yuan was a bit worried, so he walked over and saw the short-haired young man 4068 arguing with 4277.

Seeing Jing Yuan, their expressions changed somewhat.

4277’s eyes showed happiness, while 4068’s eyes held some worry.

But when 4068 saw the way 4277 looked at Jing Yuan, he instantly became resentful.

“What are you two doing here?” Jing Yuan didn’t reveal his relationship with 4277, but questioned them with the demeanor of an Upper Citizen.

4068 didn’t know how to answer. He had actually guessed that this Upper Citizen was employing 4277, but he didn’t know what kind of work it was.

4277 reacted and said, “Uh… Vice-Captain Jing Yuan, we were just passing by.”

Jing Yuan smiled bitterly internally. This little girl not only said his name but also blurted out his newly promoted position, as if afraid others wouldn’t know they were close?

Jing Yuan said sternly, “This is the Upper Citizen District, don’t wander around here if you have nothing to do!”
