4: Section 4

In the hearts of Dust Citizens, Upper Citizens were not to be offended. It was already rare enough for them to be let off the hook, yet they still doubted the Upper Citizen's identity.

As long as the other party was an Upper Citizen, it was not for them to doubt.

The three of them left the ventilation duct. What was originally a happy day now had a shadow cast over it because of this incident.

On the Lighthouse, the people from the Law Enforcement Office searched the Upper Citizen District all night after discovering Jing Yuan had escaped.

In the end, they found nothing.

After daybreak, the Law Enforcement Office searched the Lower Citizen District again, causing widespread panic, but still, they found nothing.

Later, Charles gave Ned a stern reprimand.

The Lighthouse is only so big; where could he possibly run to?

Feeling he had lost face, Ned immediately activated a bounty.

Jing Yuan wasn't some major criminal, so the bounty wasn't worth much.

The Upper Citizens didn't pay much attention, but the Dust Citizens were starting to stir.

Jing Yuan stayed in the ventilation duct for a day, resting when he had nothing to do. By the time night fell, he was full of energy.

He planned to start his training mission as soon as it passed midnight; he would be able to unlock his talent tonight.

Jing Yuan finished his last piece of bread and drank his last bottle of water.

Jing Yuan planned in his heart that once he completed the mission and unlocked his talent, the first thing he would do was destroy the Law Enforcement Office and smash the Light and Shadow Society.

Then he would find City Lord Morgan. If Morgan was willing to cooperate, he would first figure out the data held by the Lighthouse, then go to The Surface to find Bai Yuekui and find a way to clear the mana ecology.

If Morgan didn't cooperate, he would "convince him with virtue."

The only ones who would be difficult to deal with were Mark and his team.

If Jing Yuan went to find Morgan like this, he would inevitably have to fight Mark and the others.

If it were the people from the Law Enforcement Office or the City Defense Force fighting him, he would show no mercy.

But he was unwilling to hurt the Wasteland Hunters. After all, most of them were naive, good people.

While Jing Yuan was still thinking about his future plans, the sound of footsteps suddenly came from the ventilation duct.

"Someone's coming?"

Jing Yuan jolted. It was so late; who would still be coming to the ducts?

Jing Yuan immediately began to move positions.

No matter who it was, it was better to hide first and wait until he unlocked his talent.

At this critical juncture, there couldn't be any accidents.

The ventilation ducts were quite interconnected. Hiding above an isolation net, Jing Yuan saw that those entering the duct were all from the Law Enforcement Office.

They actually managed to find this place.

Fortunately, Jing Yuan had found a hidden spot in advance; the space here was narrow and not easily discovered.

The Law Enforcement Office people searched the ducts but found no clues; however, they still didn't leave.

Seeing that it was already past midnight, Jing Yuan began his training mission.

First was 100 squats.

Squats were simple. Although the space behind the isolation net was narrow, there was enough room for them.

However, sit-ups and push-ups required a slightly more spacious area.

Because the movements had to be standard, otherwise the system wouldn't count them.

After finishing the squats, Jing Yuan left the isolation net.

By now, the Law Enforcement Office people had moved far away, so he found a hidden flat area to do push-ups.

Jing Yuan did 90 in one breath when footsteps suddenly echoed from afar.

Seeing he was almost finished, Jing Yuan didn't want to give up and completed the 100 push-ups in another burst.

But by this time, the Law Enforcement Office people had arrived right in front of him.

"It's him! Grab him!"

Chapter 4: Unlocking the Talent

Jing Yuan pushed off with both hands, leaped from the ground, and turned to run.

Having hidden in the ventilation ducts for two days, he was very familiar with their internal structure.

Moreover, Jing Yuan exercised every day, and his running speed far exceeded that of these useless trash from the Law Enforcement Office.

After running past seven or eight turns, Jing Yuan ducked behind another isolation net to hide.

The Law Enforcement Office people looked around for a long time before finally running toward the other end.

Jing Yuan wasted no time, finding a hidden flat spot to start his sit-ups.

The continuous running and exercise caused his physical strength to decline, and his sit-up speed slowed significantly.

When he reached the 50th one, a voice suddenly rang out.

"He's there! Catch him quickly!"

Jing Yuan shot a glance with gritted teeth. Again!

He was just this close; why were they so relentless!

Do they have to be this dedicated?

Do they have to take me away tonight of all nights?

Jing Yuan felt a surge of anger. Looking at the five Law Enforcers running toward him, he didn't flee this time but ran directly toward them.

Seeing Jing Yuan charging, the Law Enforcer in the lead raised an iron whip and lashed it toward Jing Yuan's face.

Jing Yuan dodged to the side, and the iron whip brushed past the tip of his nose.

These guys really aren't holding back.

Jing Yuan's knee slammed hard into the Law Enforcer's abdomen as he snatched the iron whip with one hand.

Since they had pushed him this far, he wouldn't hold back either.

Jing Yuan struck the Law Enforcer directly on the head with the iron whip, knocking him to the ground.

The remaining Law Enforcers were stunned for a moment before rushing Jing Yuan together.

With a horizontal sweep, Jing Yuan fended the four of them off, then singled out the nearest one and lashed out with the whip.

Seeing this, the remaining three knew they were no match for Jing Yuan in a one-on-one fight. Thus, they had one person attract Jing Yuan's attention from the front while the two behind launched a sneak attack.

Honestly, the tactic was quite effective.

No matter how fast Jing Yuan's reaction speed was, he was still struck by a whip from behind.

Jing Yuan turned around, trading injury for injury, and struck one of the Law Enforcers behind him on the head.

The remaining two were easier to deal with and were knocked down by Jing Yuan one by one.

After finishing, he didn't run but immediately started doing sit-ups.

Because he had been struck twice by the whip, his back was in searing pain, which greatly affected his sit-up speed.

Although he was slow this time, he finally completed the 100 sit-ups before more Law Enforcers arrived.

Looking at the dozen or so Law Enforcers who had just arrived, Jing Yuan glanced at the system subtitles.

In the remaining 10-kilometer mission bar, 8 kilometers were left.

While evading the Law Enforcers earlier, he had already run 2 kilometers.

Since running made too much noise and he couldn't hide, rather than fighting them, why not... A plan formed in Jing Yuan's mind, and he turned and ran.

The group of Law Enforcers chased after him.

They ran out of the ventilation ducts, onto the Lighthouse's outer ring, and then into the Upper Citizen District.

It was late at night, and everyone had fallen asleep; there weren't many people outside.

Jing Yuan ran in front alone, with a large group of people in pursuit.

After running several laps around the Lighthouse's outer ring, the lead Law Enforcer realized something was wrong.

The Lighthouse was circular, so they left some people in place to wait for Jing Yuan to run back around.

After one lap, Jing Yuan found several people waiting ahead.

He raised his fist and delivered a punch head-on.

Jing Yuan gave each of them a punch and then continued running forward.

The people from the Law Enforcement Office were driven mad with rage.

They couldn't catch him and couldn't beat him. In desperation, they could only call for the City Defense Force.
