115: Section 115
"What are you planning to do?" Jing Yuan asked with a smile.
"Hasn't the Leader always wanted to go to the Hall of Dawn? Now that you hold great power, you can carry out a Breeding Mission with whoever you want. And... there's no need to go to the Hall of Dawn."
"Oh? Is there a big bed inside this Law Enforcement Office as well?"
"As long as you wish, Leader, there can be one immediately."
"Forget it!" Jing Yuan smiled at Fan Lü. "When I suggested to Charles that you two go to the Hall of Dawn, I only wanted to spite him. Jing Nan is fine, but as for you two, let's just leave it at that!"
Fan Lü froze for a moment upon hearing this, but her smile returned in an instant.
She slowly shrugged the clothes off her shoulders, letting them slide down to her chest, covering the last bit of the view.
"Really... forget it?"
She spoke as she walked over.
Jing Yuan smiled slightly but did not answer.
Fan Lü walked up to Jing Yuan, her full, snowy-white chest seemingly ready to burst forth.
Seeing this, even Jing Yuan gulped.
Since ancient times, heroes have always struggled to resist a beautiful woman's charms; Jing Yuan was even wondering if he should just enjoy her first.
Just as Jing Yuan was dazed, a dagger glowing with blue light lunged toward him.
Jing Yuan raised his hand and blocked it.
Fan Lü gripped the dagger with both hands and pressed down hard, her clothes naturally sliding to the floor.
Jing Yuan looked Fan Lü up and down before glancing at the dagger in her hand.
"Do you think this thing can hurt me?"
Jing Yuan looked closer and saw a blue energy blade on the black dagger. "A Plasma Blade? You were even hiding something this good!"
He snatched the dagger from Fan Lü's hand, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the floor.
It was impossible for Jing Yuan to feel nothing while looking at her curvaceous body.
Jing Yuan walked away and said with his back to Fan Lü, "Charles no longer has a chance. If you don't want to die, then behave yourselves and be honest Upper Citizens on the Lighthouse. If you want to remain loyal to Charles, then go ahead!"
With that, Jing Yuan left... although Mark had been promoted to City Lord, he still slept in his original residence.
But his residence was too small to fit anything.
Department heads had sent over a mountain of items; there wasn't even room for the documents.
So Mark moved his office directly to the Central Command Hall.
At this moment, documents were scattered all over the Central Command Hall.
Mark sat at his desk, at a complete loss, while Ran Bing and Erica, who were there to help, were also driven to distraction.
Only Jing Nan remained relatively calm.
"Jing Yuan, you're here!" Mark said, hurriedly walking over when he saw Jing Yuan. "Come and help out!"
Jing Yuan said, "I'm a warrior; you want me to do clerical work?"
Mark froze for a second. "Am I not one too?"
Jing Yuan laughed and quickly changed the subject. "I found Vandy and Fan Lü. They were hiding and performing genetic experiments."
"Genetic experiments?"
"Yes, it seems to be a type of gene potion that can create superhuman soldiers. They used it on Loriv. Loriv became a man with immense strength, but he went mad and became uncontrollable. I had no choice but to deal a fatal blow."
"And what about Vandy and Fan Lü?"
"They've been locked up."
Jing Yuan whispered, "Have you thought about how to handle Charles? You and Jing Nan both asked me not to kill him, but as long as he lives, he's an unstable factor."
Mark hesitated. "Let's wait. Once we learn the 'Returning to Origin' you mentioned from The Surface, both Charles and City Lord Morgan will change their minds."
Jing Yuan had no choice; after all, Mark was too kind-hearted.
"Fine! I'll promise you that! But if there's another rebellion, I won't show any mercy."
Mark remained silent, only patting Jing Yuan on the shoulder.
After their conversation, the two walked over to Jing Nan.
Mark asked, "Jing Nan, what are the results of the search for the Ground People?"
Jing Nan shook her head. "This continent is vast; finding a single village is incredibly difficult."
Jing Yuan thought for a moment and said, "In the fragments of the future I saw, the mana ecology in that place was cleared by them, and there were no Phage Beasts. Such a region is quite large. The Lighthouse has been sailing in the sky for so many years; has it really never encountered it once?"
Jing Nan looked at Jing Yuan. "If there really is a large area of purified land as you say, it would be impossible for us not to notice it. Unless..."
Jing Nan thought of a possibility. "Unless it was intentionally avoided by someone."
Mark and Jing Nan looked at each other. Where were the places they had avoided all these years?
"Could it be the Dense Ecological Zones?"
Except for the last trip to Nirvana, the Wasteland Hunters' scavenging missions never went to Dense Ecological Zones.
In their understanding, those places were even more terrifying than the Wilderness.
But if no one has been there, how would they know it's terrifying?
"I think it's worth a try!" Jing Yuan said. "Anyway, Phage Beasts can't fly yet. We can steer the Lighthouse over to take a look; if it doesn't work out, we'll just flee."
Jing Nan caught a specific word. "You said Phage Beasts can't fly 'yet.' Does that mean in the future you saw, they will evolve the ability to fly?"
Jing Yuan smiled and said, "Yes. Forget the future—even the Calyx Beast we fought last time actually possessed a brief ability to fly."
Mark was a bit anxious as he looked at Jing Nan. "Then let's start searching from the nearest Dense Ecological Zone!"
Jing Nan smiled. "What's the rush? You have to wait until after your City Lord inauguration ceremony."
Chapter 118: Post-Release Thoughts
It will be released at noon today.
There will be ten consecutive updates after the release!
I want to thank all the readers for their comments, follows, monthly tickets, and tips!
These are all my motivation for writing.
Several readers have given this book very high praise, which has made me even more motivated.
As I said in my previous thoughts, I am a newcomer who hasn't been able to reach the contract-signing stage for many years; being signed is already not easy.
So my goal is to completely finish writing a signed novel.
I'll just keep a level head about everything else.
Also, let me talk a bit about the novel's plot.
When I was conceiving this novel, the last few episodes of the second season of pest control hadn't been updated yet, so there were two points I didn't take into account: one is Charles becoming an Abyss Depther, and the other is Mark entering the laboratory and his battle with Bai Yuekui, putting on a show for the ecology.
If I wanted to add these two points after the second season finale, the protagonist's internal motivations would also have to change, which would be too much of a modification.
So I simply designed it so that the protagonist doesn't know these two points yet, and I also added a setting where he has forgotten some details because it's been too long.
Dear readers, please be understanding when you see related plots where the protagonist doesn't realize Charles can use the Abyss Depther!
Finally, I still hope everyone can support me with a first-day subscription!
*Cupped fist salute!*
Chapter 119: The Lighthouse Changes From Today (Requesting First-Day Subscriptions)
Just two days after the Wasteland Hunters returned from The Surface, a grand ceremony was held on the Lighthouse.
Except for those in important positions, all the people of the Lighthouse gathered on the Lighthouse's Outer Ring.
Mark stood alone in a high position.
The members of the Wasteland Hunters were below him.
For this succession ceremony, to prevent any accidents, they did not bring Morgan out.
Although Morgan couldn't make an appearance, Mark's status in the hearts of the Upper Citizens was already very high.
His succession as City Lord was also personally arranged by Morgan.
It was considered perfectly legitimate!
Mark was also a hero-like figure in the hearts of the Dust Citizens; in the past, he often shared food with them and treated them like human beings.
Him becoming the City Lord...
...could be said to be exactly what everyone hoped for!
