67: Section 67
"We need to figure out how he uses this gravity body so we can properly repair and tune it." Jessica shook her head, "Some core components are excessively worn out. I really don't know how he uses it."
"I'll notify him to come over!" Jing Nan said, and the image of that figure in the Hall of Dawn immediately flashed through her mind.
However, she didn't dwell on it.
The Lighthouse was only so big, and soon Jing Yuan arrived at the Research Department.
Jing Yuan knew Jing Nan had called him, so he had mentally prepared himself before coming.
After all, they had been intimate, and meeting again would be somewhat awkward.
But when he saw Jing Nan, he couldn't help but recall the scene from the Hall of Dawn last night, and his eyes involuntarily shifted downward for a quick glance.
"Lord Jing Nan." Jing Yuan looked at her. "What's wrong with my gravity body?"
"Hello! Jing Yuan." Jessica waved at Jing Yuan from behind.
"Hi!" Jing Yuan replied awkwardly.
"What? Do you only have eyes for Jing Nan? Can't you see me?"
Jing Yuan laughed awkwardly, "No, I just didn't notice you were behind me."
"See? Only Jing Nan is in his eyes!" Jessica looked at the two meaningfully.
Jing Nan had delicate features, a tall figure, and her uniform combined with her unique charm attracted many men.
Jessica had witnessed this kind of scene several times.
"Alright, let's get down to business." Jing Nan interrupted their conversation.
"Fine!" Jessica walked over to the gravity body and asked, "How exactly did you use this gravity body? To wear out the internal motor to this extent!"
Chapter 68: Making Her Satisfied
Jing Yuan looked at the gravity body in front of him and replied blankly, "Just normal use!"
"With normal use, you wouldn't see this kind of wear and tear in half a year. How long have you even had this gravity body?" Jessica had called him over precisely because she didn't believe this was caused by normal circumstances.
Jessica continued to ask, "When operating the gravity body, did you unilaterally increase the power while neglecting to adjust the torque, or keep the motor under high-power load for extended periods?"
"I don't have any issues with the operation; everything was calibrated before. However, when facing Phage Beasts, I do perform some over-limit movements, which causes the motor to be in a high-load state. But there's no choice—if I don't do that, I'll be attacked by the Phage Beast."
Jing Yuan wasn't exactly sure of the specific reason, but he guessed it was due to the effect of Psychic Power.
When fighting the Phage Beast, if the gravity body couldn't keep up with the action, Jing Yuan would subconsciously release Psychic Power onto the gravity body, forcibly controlling it to complete movements it couldn't normally perform.
Just like last time, when dodging that large Phage Beast within the structure, Jing Yuan used Psychic Power to make the gravity body execute a sharp turn, which diverted the Phage Beast toward the three members of the Light and Shadow Society.
If he frequently performed such maneuvers, the gravity body definitely couldn't handle it.
After hearing this, Jing Nan asked doubtfully, "You mean you controlled the gravity body to perform movements beyond its limits? How did you manage that?"
Jing Yuan couldn't immediately come up with a good explanation.
Jessica was shocked, "The melee performance of your gravity body has already been tuned to the maximum. You can exceed that even further?"
"No," Jing Yuan quickly denied, "It's just running at its limit."
Jing Yuan's explanation was weak.
Jing Nan and Jessica were both engineers, and they knew that within the limit, the operational wear and tear of the gravity body's components was controllable.
And the current situation was clearly caused by exceeding the limit.
But based on their understanding, they couldn't believe Jing Yuan could control the gravity body to perform over-limit movements.
Because the limits of mechanical operation were fixed; it couldn't be achieved just by "controlling" it.
The gravity body's power system far surpassed that of humans, so it couldn't be forcibly controlled by human strength either.
Therefore, they could only conclude that Jing Yuan was constantly operating the gravity body right on the edge of its limits.
Although this explanation was more acceptable, it still shocked them.
Before Jing Yuan, no one had achieved this level of control, not even Mark.
"Originally, we wanted to tune it for you based on your usage, but now it seems there's no way to tune it." Jessica sighed, "But I must tell you, the core motor inside this gravity body is also damaged, and we lack the parts. Even if we repair the other sections, this gravity body will only last you three or four more times."
"That's fine. I'll use it as many times as I can!"
Jing Nan and Jessica nodded, indicating their understanding.
When facing Phage Beasts, one couldn't possibly refrain from taking necessary measures just to protect the mech from overloading; that would be putting the cart before the horse.
As for the wear and tear, they could only find other ways to compensate.
Jing Nan suddenly said, "We scouted a Supply Collection Point these past two days. Maybe we can find some weapons, and perhaps even secure a few gravity bodies."
Jessica smiled, "I don't expect a complete gravity body; just getting some parts would be enough for me."
Jing Yuan, however, was unconcerned.
After his physical fitness increased to Tier 2, his physical strength was comparable to that of a gravity body.
Whether he had a gravity body or not, it made no difference to him.
Having a gravity body might even hinder him from exerting his full strength.
He only piloted the gravity body during team missions to conceal Jing Yuan's true strength.
The three were discussing the gravity body when suddenly Jing Nan's communicator rang.
Jing Nan answered the call, and a voice said, "Commander-in-Chief Jing Nan, your Breeding Mission will continue today. Please arrive at the Hall of Dawn on time."
Jing Nan was stunned for a moment after hearing this, then replied coldly, "Alright, understood."
Jing Nan and Jessica were very close, and even though Jing Nan was using an earpiece, Jessica heard some of the content.
Jessica looked at Jing Nan with a strange look and smiled, "Going to the Hall of Dawn again tonight?"
Jing Nan frowned, signaling that Jing Yuan was still nearby.
Jessica, however, said casually, "What are you afraid of? Executing the Breeding Mission in the Hall of Dawn is the duty of every Upper Citizen. Even though Jing Yuan is still young, he should know that."
Jing Yuan gave an awkward smile.
"Jessica!" Jing Nan's frown deepened. She really couldn't do anything about Jessica's straightforward personality.
"Alright, alright, I won't say anymore. I wish you meet a mission partner tonight who satisfies you!"
Jing Nan blushed.
Jing Yuan, however, was startled. A satisfied mission partner?
Was she dissatisfied before?
Was Jing Nan's partner going to be changed?
Facing these questions, Jing Yuan asked, "Are the partners for the Hall of Dawn mission different every time?"
"Oh, looks like little brother is very interested in the Hall of Dawn."
Given Jessica's age, calling Jing Yuan "little brother" was certainly appropriate.
"Just a tiny bit curious."
Jessica looked at Jing Yuan and explained, "The Hall of Dawn mission partners are indeed different every time. You stinky men probably love this arrangement the most!"
"Surely this arrangement isn't just to please men, right?"
Jessica nodded and replied seriously, "Indeed, this arrangement has another purpose. Although both men and women for the Hall of Dawn mission are matched by Genetic Algorithm, the mission doesn't always succeed on the first try. By matching different partners for multiple missions, the woman cannot determine who the father of the child is. This maximizes the abandonment of the family relationships from the old world."
Only after hearing this did Jing Yuan understand.
In fact, anyone who had been to the Hall of Dawn knew that a mask was useless for acquaintances, and even strangers could easily figure things out after a few missions.
If the two parties performed missions consecutively, it would be easy to confirm that the child was theirs.
Those two people would then likely become a factor of instability.
Don't underestimate the family relationships of the old world.
If a person has a child, they would be willing to die for that child!
Therefore, for the Lighthouse management, the simplest matching method was to have multiple people perform missions multiple times.
This way, short of conducting Genetic Information Identification, no one would know who the father of the child was.
"So, how many consecutive missions are usually required?" It was Jing Nan who asked this question; she was so eager to know how many more missions she had to do that she ignored Jing Yuan's presence.
"Three to five times!" After saying this, Jessica glanced at Jing Yuan. "Is there anything else you want to know?"
Jing Yuan quickly waved his hands and said, "No more!"
Then, he looked at the two and asked, "I guess I'm not needed here anymore! I'll be leaving now!"
Jing Yuan scurried away. Just as he walked out the door of the Research Department, he surprisingly received a message too.
The Hall of Dawn again!
The frequency of these arrangements—they really think of me as a breeding model!
Complaining aside, when the time came, Jing Yuan still obediently went to report to the Hall of Dawn.
The familiar golden door, the familiar passageway.
