6: Section 6

Jing Yuan raised his rifle and fired at the gravity body while moving.

Back in school, Jing Yuan was an all-around student. He not only mastered close-quarters combat and various firearm shooting techniques, but was also a gravity body pilot.

Jing Yuan was very familiar with gravity bodies.

He also knew their weaknesses clearly.

Every shot Jing Yuan fired hit the weak spots of the gravity body, never missing.

This shooting accuracy was even better than Jing Yuan's historical records.

It seemed that after his body was strengthened, his senses improved, which also enhanced his various skills.

The weak spots of the gravity body were pierced, and it subsequently fell into a state of stagnation.

Jing Yuan rushed over, flipped open the gravity body's helmet, and knocked out the pilot with a single punch.

People from the City Defense Force received the news, and a large number of soldiers immediately came as reinforcements.

Leading them was none other than City Defense Force Captain Senge.

"Damn it!" Jing Yuan cursed, "The original plan is completely ruined. Now it seems the only option is to head to The Surface!"

Jing Yuan turned around to escape, but encountered Mark leading the Wasteland Hunters, blocking his path.

When Jing Yuan was being chased by a group of Law Enforcers earlier, the high-ranking officials on the Lighthouse already knew.

Since the City Defense Force had arrived, the Wasteland Hunters naturally came as well.

"Jing Yuan, put down your weapon!"

"Captain Mark!"

"What are you doing?"

"I just don't want to die!" Jing Yuan said through gritted teeth.

Mark was shocked. "The people from the Law Enforcement Office were just putting you in solitary confinement. How could you die?"

On The Surface, Jing Yuan looked deeply aggrieved, but in his heart, he was amused.

Mark was a good man; his greatest virtue was kindness, and his greatest flaw was also kindness.

If he didn't make things sound serious, how would Mark help him?

"Captain Mark, is this your first day knowing the people from the Law Enforcement Office?"

Jing Yuan didn't mention specific details, but instead asked Mark.

Mark hesitated. Anyone with eyes knew that the people from the Law Enforcement Office were no good and loved to bully others. Not a few Upper Citizens were oppressed, let alone many Dust Citizens.

"Captain Mark! If you can guarantee I won't die, I'm willing to put down my weapon and go see the City Lord with you!"

Hearing this, Mark immediately nodded and said, "Fine! With me here, no one can kill you!"

"Captain Mark!"

In the distance, City Defense Force Captain Senge walked over and said to Mark, "Maintaining order on the Lighthouse is the responsibility of the City Defense Force."

Mark stepped forward, shielding Jing Yuan behind him, and said, "Jing Yuan is the most outstanding student in the 'Communal Schooling' system. I must investigate thoroughly why such a thing happened."

"Correct!" Jing Yuan stepped forward and said, "I want to see the City Lord and explain everything!"

Mark had a very high reputation on the Lighthouse, was a powerful warrior himself, and had the Wasteland Hunters behind him. If Senge didn't agree, there was nothing he could do to Mark.

The two sides were at a stalemate, and in the end, they had to go to the Council Hall to resolve it.

City Lord Morgan had not been asleep for long before he was woken up again.

Inside the Council Hall.

City Lord Morgan, City Defense Force Commander Victor, Wilderness Hunter Commander Mark, Leader of the Light and Shadow Society Charles, Inspector Ned, and Instructor Elon were all present.

Morgan sat in the main seat, looking at everyone with exhaustion on his face, and asked, "What is it that you're making such a fuss about in the middle of the night?"

"Lord City Lord..."

"Lord City Lord!"

Mark was about to report the situation, but Charles beat him to it, saying, "It wasn't a big deal at first, just an Upper Citizen who was undergoing punishment escaped. The Law Enforcement Office and the City Defense Force were pursuing the fugitive, that's all. It's Captain Mark who insisted on bringing it before you, Lord City Lord."

Morgan glanced at Victor beside him and asked, "Is that so?"

Victor bowed slightly and said, "That is indeed the case. A fugitive escaped from the Law Enforcement Office today, and they requested the City Defense Force's assistance in the search. The commotion tonight was caused by the Law Enforcement Office and the City Defense Force catching the fugitive!"

"Since it's about catching a fugitive, Mark, why did you get involved?" Morgan looked at Mark.

Instructor Elon stepped forward and said, "Lord City Lord, the fugitive they speak of is named Jing Yuan. He is the most outstanding student of this session's 'Communal Schooling' system. The day before yesterday, Inspector Ned came to the school and took him away without a word, leaving me with no explanation."

Mark also helped by saying, "Instructor Elon was worried something had happened to Jing Yuan, so he asked me to check the Law Enforcement Office. At that time, the charge Ned gave Jing Yuan was: criticizing the three great laws. They subjected Jing Yuan to a flogging and then wanted to put him in solitary confinement. Jing Yuan said he felt his life was in danger, which is why he escaped."

"Nonsense!" Ned jumped out hurriedly and said, "Everything we do is according to the law!"

Seeing that it was his turn to perform, Jing Yuan stepped forward and shouted, "Lord City Lord, I've been wronged! They are deliberately framing me! These are trumped-up charges!"

Morgan frowned.

Ned quickly said, "You criticized the three great laws, resisted enforcement, and escaped from prison—that's an even greater crime! What are you shouting about being wronged?"

"Ned!" Jing Yuan pointed at Ned and said, "Do you dare to explain clearly in front of the City Lord how I criticized the three great laws? When did I say it? Where did I say it? To whom did I say it? Where is the witness? Where is the physical evidence?"

Ned was stunned.

Mark and Elon were also stunned; they didn't expect this kid to be so bold as to speak so loudly in front of the City Lord.

Jing Yuan continued, "When you couldn't produce any evidence, you tortured me to force a confession. What exactly are you trying to do? Do you dare to explain clearly in front of the City Lord!"

Hearing Jing Yuan's questioning, Charles turned to look at Ned and asked in a low voice, "Inspector Ned, you arrested someone without even having evidence?"

Ned panicked and said, "There is a witness!"

Jing Yuan immediately said, "Where is the person? I request to confront them!"

Chapter 6: Confrontation

Charles chimed in from the side, "Ned, since there is a witness, bring them in!"

Jing Yuan glanced at Charles; this little blonde guy always liked to put on an act.

Knowing the plot, Jing Yuan saw through Charles's little scheme at a glance. As long as Ned proved he was indeed guilty, then Mark, who was helping him, would be seen as making trouble for no reason.

Charles! Oh, Charles!

He would not miss any opportunity to attack Mark! He would step on him whenever he could!

Morgan looked at the people below and said somewhat angrily, "Can't you handle such a small matter among yourselves?"

Charles's expression changed slightly, while Ned's expression changed drastically.

They couldn't figure out Morgan's intention at the moment.

"Lord City Lord!" Jing Yuan said loudly, "This is no small matter! The Lighthouse has survived in the apocalypse for so long because everyone follows the laws! Now that someone is enforcing the law unfairly, it undermines the very foundation of the Lighthouse's survival."

Mark felt that Jing Yuan's words were too grand and empty, so he stepped forward and said, "Lord City Lord, just now, Jing Yuan alone knocked down a dozen Law Enforcers, four or five armed City Defense Force soldiers, and disabled a gravity body. For such an important talent, everyone must want to know exactly what kind of mistake he made for the Law Enforcement Office and the City Defense Force to treat him this way!"

The expressions of Morgan and Victor changed.

Morgan looked at Victor beside him and asked, "Is it true?"

Victor quickly gave Senge a look, and the latter hurriedly said, "Lord City Lord, it's true. He also killed two Law Enforcers and one soldier."

"Hey! Make it clear!" Jing Yuan shouted sternly, "I was empty-handed; how could I kill them? They were clearly killed by your own accidental fire!"

Senge's face looked terrible; he was actually being scolded by a kid in front of the City Lord!

At this time, Morgan's expression changed. He stared at Jing Yuan; how could such a talent be wasted?

Jing Yuan saw Morgan's micro-expression from a distance and felt confident about what would happen next.

Combining the plot of pest control and his current understanding of the Lighthouse, Jing Yuan deduced that Morgan should be a leader who values talent.

Morgan must know that Mark isn't human, but he is still willing to give him important positions.

Leaders all like talent, but the premise is that they like talent they can control.

Jing Yuan had this kind of combat power, and he came to Morgan for justice. How could Morgan give up on him?

"Bring the witness in!"

With one word from Morgan, a few minutes later, two Law Enforcers brought a young man into the hall.

Jing Yuan looked and saw it was actually him!

His classmate, Kalan.

Seeing Kalan, Jing Yuan roughly understood what was going on.

Back in school, Kalan and he indeed didn't get along.

He indeed had some remarks, but none of them directly touched upon the three great laws.

What kind of remarks could Kalan have heard?

Jing Yuan glanced at Charles and suddenly understood.

No wonder the Law Enforcement Office wanted to punish him!
