191: Section 191
"What command?"
"A command sent from the Lighthouse!" Mevy explained as she walked. "Normally, commands sent from the Lighthouse pass through Ash. However, another consciousness competes with Ash for control. So, Ash designed a mechanism where, at a critical moment, she traps the other consciousness, and I bypass the program to approve the command. This allows the Lighthouse to navigate!"
Jing Yuan smiled. As expected of a super AI, she had great foresight.
"Where are we going?"
"The Control Center."
Jing Yuan followed behind Mevy, moving through the passage.
However, this passage was different from any place Jing Yuan knew.
Jing Yuan had grown up on the Lighthouse and was familiar with every part of it, yet he had never seen this passage before.
Mevy seemed to sense Jing Yuan's confusion and said, "This is a labyrinth constructed by Ash. It's different from the Lighthouse, so don't think of it as being inside the Lighthouse."
"Understood!"
As Mevy walked ahead, she glanced back at Jing Yuan and asked, "What year was it on the Lighthouse when you came here?"
"Um... Lighthouse Year 51!"
"Has it been that long?" Mevy's expression shifted.
Jing Yuan asked in surprise, "How long have you spent here?"
"I don't know. There are no points of reference here, and in my perception, not much time has passed." Mevy sighed. "I didn't expect so much time to go by, and yet I still haven't solved the problem with clotho."
Mevy suddenly looked at Jing Yuan and asked, "Do you know my son, Charles? Morgan appointed him as the Leader of the Light and Shadow Society, so you should know him!"
Jing Yuan was startled and asked instead, "Can you perceive the outside world from here?"
"No, I don't have that ability. Ash used to have it, but she doesn't anymore. So even if Ash recovers, she won't be able to help us find supplies."
Jing Yuan smiled awkwardly. Judging by the way Mevy spoke, her personality seemed to be the gentle type. If she hadn't mentioned Charles herself, Jing Yuan would never have associated her with him.
Their personalities were complete opposites.
"Charles... how is he doing?"
"He's doing quite well. He's been doing his best to help City Lord Morgan manage the Light and Shadow Society. He's kind, helpful, unites the Upper Citizens, and treats the Dust Citizens well... In short, he's done many good deeds and is a young man praised by everyone on the Lighthouse!"
Mevy's eyes blanked for a moment after hearing this, and then she broke into a relieved smile.
"I was worried that under Morgan's tutelage, he would turn into someone like Morgan!"
"No, no, he's much better than Morgan!" Jing Yuan could hardly keep up the lie and hurriedly changed the subject. He looked at Mevy's face; Jing Nan looked exactly like her, only their hair color was different.
"By the way, Jing Nan is also doing well. She is currently the Commander-in-Chief of the Navigation Control Room."
Mevy said, "The moment you saw me earlier, you mentioned Jing Nan. It seems you are very familiar with her."
"I suppose so! We both work together for the Lighthouse." Jing Yuan looked at Mevy and couldn't help but ask, "I heard Jing Nan is your adopted daughter, but how can she look exactly like you?"
"Can't an adopted daughter look like her mother?"
Jing Yuan smiled and said, "Jing Nan must be the biological daughter you had with someone else! I understand if you want to keep it from Morgan, but Jing Nan should know the truth."
Mevy shook her head and said, "No, she isn't."
Jing Yuan was stunned; it wasn't like that at all.
Mevy smiled slightly. She hadn't intended to reveal this secret. But considering Jing Yuan was already inside and couldn't leave, it wouldn't hurt to tell him since he was curious.
"Since you want to know, I'll tell you. Jing Nan is actually my clone. My body suffers from a genetic defect disease. To help treat me, my father repaired the genetic defect and cultivated a clone, planning to transplant my brain into it once the clone reached adulthood."
"Your father... is?"
"My father was the previous City Lord of the Lighthouse. Given your age, you probably don't know him!"
"Your father is Grey?"
"Chapter 194: The Confrontation Between Ash and the primal body"
"Your father is Grey?"
"Yes!" Although Mevy was somewhat surprised, she figured it wasn't strange for Jing Yuan to know some high-level Lighthouse information since he was sent here for neural linking.
"Heh!" Jing Yuan chuckled. "He really does love brain transplants." He looked at Mevy and said with disappointment, "So you raised Jing Nan just to have a spare body for yourself!"
"No!" Mevy shook her head. "Among all the clones, Jing Nan was the only individual to possess life source essence. But possessing life source essence means she is a complete person. I couldn't bear it, so I took her out of the laboratory and raised her as my daughter. I never intended to use her body."
After hearing Mevy's words, Jing Yuan fell silent!
"Then why not use a clone that doesn't have life source essence?"
"With current technology, life source essence cannot be transferred intact. Even if the brain is transplanted, if a life source essence circuit cannot be constructed, the body cannot be controlled."
Jing Yuan frowned as he listened to Mevy's explanation and said, "So, a brain swap must involve plundering a body that has life source essence!"
Mevy nodded helplessly. "Yes!"
Jing Yuan let out two cold laughs, not knowing what to say.
He had originally wanted to find out about Jing Nan's origins so she could know who her parents were.
Given such a background, it was better not to say anything.
Mevy didn't continue the conversation and led Jing Yuan forward.
Suddenly, a dark shadow appeared swaying ahead.
Noticing the shadow, Mevy quickly stopped Jing Yuan. "Watch out!"
"What is that?"
"A Phage Beast manifested by the other consciousness!" Mevy pulled Jing Yuan to the side of the passage wall and said, "Don't be afraid, Ash will help us!"
As she spoke, a door appeared on the passage wall.
"Didn't you say Ash is currently struggling with the other consciousness?"
"Yes! This is the struggle between them!" After saying this, Mevy opened the door beside them.
Jing Yuan looked inside the door; it was another passage.
Jing Yuan looked back at the shadow Phage Beast and then at the other side of the door.
One chasing, one hiding—the struggle between the two sides was presented before Jing Yuan in this manner.
Jing Yuan took a step back and said to Mevy, "This consciousness Phage Beast shouldn't be as strong as the other consciousness itself, right?"
Mevy was startled and quickly asked, "What are you going to do?"
"Instead of hiding, it's better to fight. I came here to fight!"
"Don't be impulsive!" Mevy hurriedly advised. "These consciousness Phage Beasts are used by the other consciousness to absorb our life source essence. If you fail and they absorb your life source essence, it will only make the other consciousness stronger."
"Don't worry!" Jing Yuan had entered clotho's mental space with the primary goal of transferring the Lighthouse's supreme control and the secondary goal of destroying the primal body consciousness.
He wanted to test things out; if he couldn't even deal with a tiny consciousness avatar, then what was he doing here?
Using Mental Power, Jing Yuan condensed a giant war blade in his hand.
He usually used blades, so in the mental world, his power manifested as a blade as well.
Holding the war blade, Jing Yuan charged forward and faced the Phage Beast, slaying it with a single strike. That clump of source essence dissipated along with it.
Seeing this, Mevy said in surprise, "You're actually this powerful!"
Jing Yuan pointed ahead and asked, "Would it be faster to go this way?"
Mevy nodded. "The places where the consciousness sets up defenses are the shortcuts!"
In other words, the primal body consciousness knew that Mevy and Jing Yuan were heading for the Control Center, so it split off its consciousness to block them, but Ash also split off her consciousness to help them.
However, considering Mevy's situation, the strategy Ash had prepared was to flee.
Jing Yuan's arrival was an accident; since he could slay a consciousness avatar Phage Beast with one strike, there was no need to run—they could just take the shortest path.
With Jing Yuan clearing the way and Mevy guiding him, they fought their way all the way to the Control Center.
Upon entering the so-called Control Center, Jing Yuan saw that it was modeled after the Computing Center of the actual Lighthouse.
Except there was no clotho here, only a console... the Computing Center of the real world.
Jing Nan and Flynn were monitoring the situation beside Jing Yuan's body.
While Master Lai stared at clotho from the side.
Jing Nan suddenly saw a fluctuation in the monitoring parameters and quickly asked Flynn, "What's going on?"
Flynn replied, "The equipment is drawing power, which means his consciousness is very active."
"Could he be fighting inside?"
Flynn didn't think so. "Your so-called 'fighting' is just a scene imagined by your brain. From a scientific perspective, it's just a collision between a bunch of electrical signals."
"Beep beep!"
Jing Nan received a communication signal and immediately connected.
