165: Section 165
"Does it have anything to do with me?"
"Of course. Right now, the Lighthouse is controlled by Marc and Jing Yuan. They want to raise the status of the Dust Citizens, and they're giving resources belonging to Upper Citizens to the Dust Citizens. If this continues, the Lighthouse will be finished sooner or later!"
"If the Lighthouse is finished, what does that have to do with me?"
"This Lighthouse is the life's work of your grandfather and father, spanning two generations. Are you really going to stand by and watch the Lighthouse be destroyed at the hands of those two?"
"Don't mention my father to me. There are no father-son relationships on the Lighthouse!" At this, Charles was still very angry. "It was that old man who chose Marc! He can face the consequences of all this himself!"
"I know, but your father has realized his mistake! He now understands that only you can lead the Lighthouse forward!" Walter continued, "Lord Leader, if you are willing, we are prepared to assist you in retaking control of the Lighthouse! Let's make the Lighthouse great again!"
Charles looked at Walter, and the light in his eyes flickered to life once more.
Chapter 168: The Death of Mydo
The Lighthouse, Morgan's residence.
A young man in a chef's uniform pushed a dining cart and slowly entered the residence.
"Halt!"
Two Wasteland Hunters standing guard at the door stopped the chef.
"How come I haven't seen you before?"
"I was just transferred here. Kane is sick today, so I'm delivering the meal!"
The Wasteland Hunters checked the cart as per routine. Finding no issues, they let him in.
Their inspections of Morgan's side were relatively lax.
Firstly, no one wanted to kill Morgan, and secondly, no one wanted to rescue him, so they didn't pay much attention.
The cart entered the inner room, where the chef saw Morgan sitting alone, playing chess.
Having been alone for so long, Morgan was almost on the verge of developing senile dementia from the isolation!
"City Lord Morgan!"
Morgan said nothing, his eyes fixed on the chessboard.
"City Lord Morgan!"
Hearing the other party calling repeatedly, Morgan could only say, "Just leave it there! I'll eat later!"
"City Lord Morgan, a great catastrophe is about to befall the Lighthouse! Please, City Lord, take command of the Lighthouse once more and lead us out of danger!"
Morgan turned his head and looked at him. "What did you say?"
"City Lord Morgan, the Lighthouse is now under the control of Marc and Jing Yuan. They are collaborating with the Ground People and want to transform us all into beings like them!"
"They falsely claim those Ground People have superpowers and want to transform us into people with superpowers too!"
"They say it's to better combat the Phage Beasts!"
"Lord City Lord, if we are transformed, will we still be human?"
"Now, the Ground People can board the Lighthouse at any time!"
"The Lighthouse is no longer the Lighthouse of the Lighthouse people!"
"What did you say?!"
Morgan's expression was incredibly complex!
Since the old world, Morgan had been by Gray's side. Ever since Gray decided to have him succeed as City Lord, he had shared many secrets with him.
Morgan knew many things.
Over all these years, while the Lighthouse floated in the sky, could it really have known nothing about the situation on the ground?
It was the common people who knew nothing!
But Morgan—he knew everything!
Why didn't he cooperate with the Ground People? It wasn't just as Jing Yuan said—that he would lose his hold on power after collaborating with them.
There was another, even more important reason: deep down, Morgan believed they were not human!
As long as they weren't human, there was absolutely no possibility of cooperation!
Now that Marc was stubbornly persisting in his course, Morgan could finally sit still no longer!
"What is your plan?" Morgan cut through all the nonsense.
He naturally knew what this person had come here for.
"For any plan, we still need you, Lord City Lord, to take charge of the overall situation!"
Morgan looked at him. "Marc possesses the Lighthouse's strongest military force, and Jing Yuan himself has extraordinary martial prowess. If you don't even have a plan to deal with them, how can you talk about retaking control of the Lighthouse?"
Morgan truly lived up to his decades as City Lord; with just a few simple words, he made the other man tremble.
"Currently, Marc and Jing Yuan spend most of their time on The Surface. We can take advantage of when they are on The Surface to simply fly the Lighthouse away!"
"And the Wasteland Hunters?"
"Kill those who need to be killed! They aren't like those two monsters who can't be killed!"
Morgan's gaze darkened as he stared intently at the man, then he nodded. "Hmm. Go find General Victor."
"We have already sent someone there."
Hearing this, Morgan finally felt a sense of reliability... Jing Yuan's group, in two vehicles, entered the Purification Zone. Star Shatterer had been trying to contact the village but had received no feedback.
"Could something have happened?"
Star Shatterer turned back and glared at Taciturn. "Shut your jinxing mouth!"
Thousand Miles, however, was lighthearted. "With Boss Bai around, what could possibly go wrong!"
Hearing Thousand Miles say this, Star Shatterer also nodded. Boss Bai's strength was indeed beyond doubt.
Star Shatterer arranged for Taciturn to go to Quid's car and lead them to the Ecological Base.
This was because most of the village's research equipment was located in the Ecological Base.
Meanwhile, Star Shatterer, Thousand Miles, and Jing Yuan entered the village directly.
After entering through the main entrance of Dragon Bone Village, they didn't see a soul all the way to the Supply Station.
This made both Star Shatterer and Thousand Miles feel very strange.
Where had everyone gone?
Jing Yuan's Mental Force swept out, discovering that many people were gathered in one place.
He called Thousand Miles and Star Shatterer, and they quickly headed toward the gathering crowd.
A crowd had gathered in an open space on the edge of the village.
The sound of weeping could be heard coming from within the crowd.
Star Shatterer had a bad feeling and hurriedly ran over.
At this moment, Bai Yuekui was in the center of the crowd, her face filled with grief.
Ulaanbaatar was on the side, weeping uncontrollably, and his son was also crying.
On the other side, a man holding a child was also crying.
Even Jing Yuan sensed something was wrong.
He looked at Marc standing to the side; Marc was still wearing a gravity body!
After his previous gravity body was destroyed, the Research Department had provided him with a new one. It was white, with the paint job not even changed yet.
Wearing a gravity body meant he had just been through a battle.
Faced with this scene, Jing Yuan didn't feel it was appropriate to ask the people of Dragon Bone Village, so he had to ask Marc.
Marc was also looking very sorrowful at the moment.
"Marc, what happened?" Jing Yuan approached Marc and asked.
Hearing Jing Yuan's voice, Marc finally noticed that Jing Yuan and the others had returned.
Marc didn't waste time on pleasantries and said directly, "One of the shielding towers in Dragon Bone Village broke. Boss Bai took people to repair it, and I went along to help. But we encountered Phage Beasts midway, and someone sacrificed their life!"
Jing Yuan was stunned. Didn't they all know Returning to Origin? How could they still be discovered by Phage Beasts? Especially near a shielding tower.
"Who was sacrificed?"
"Two young girls. One named Mydo, and the other named Fang Yuan."
"Mydo?"
Jing Yuan recalled that innocent and lively young girl in the short red skirt. She had actually sacrificed her life!
Jing Yuan's head felt like it was about to explode!
Such a wonderful young girl, gone just like that?
