16: Chapter 16 The Invitation of Katas

It had been a long time since Zhang Shan had experienced the feeling of waking up in bed.

If not for the steel-like biological clock he had developed over the past decade or more, Zhang Shan would have loved to sleep for half the day.

Moreover, the moment he opened his eyes, Zhang Yi and Zhang Er immediately stood up from the sofa in the living room and stood at attention beside Zhang Shan's large bed.

Under the burning gaze of the two tall and burly men, Zhang Shan didn't even want to lie there for another second.

Zhang Shan waved his hand helplessly, signaling for Zhang Yi and Zhang Er to leave his sight.

"You two go get ready; later, you'll accompany me to the famous Saint Jacques market to kill some time."

"I trust our old friend Moriarty will bring us good news about Victor before long."

...

The streets of Saint Jacques were very wide, and the locals loved setting up stalls along the sides.

The market district was always exceptionally lively; no matter how wide the space was, it would be packed full of various pedestrians.

"Boss, we should head back. The crowd here is mixed, and there's a certain amount of danger."

Zhang Yi wasn't wearing a suit today, but rather a patterned short outfit. However, his tall physique still stood out in the crowd.

Zhang Shan didn't say anything upon hearing this; he understood this point better than anyone.

In fact, not long after Zhang Shan and his group left the hotel, four people had set their sights on them.

And as one of the world's top assassins, Zhang Shan had naturally noticed them long ago.

However, this group of tailors had followed Zhang Shan and his group around the market for nearly two hours without making a move, so their intentions couldn't yet be determined.

Assassination? Kidnapping? Or just simple stalking?

Aside from Zhang Yi and Zhang Er in plain sight, there were also Three, Four, and Five following in the shadows; regardless of what the other party's goal was, Zhang Shan was naturally not afraid.

He had just reached a five-million us dollar deal with Moriarty, and he was already being targeted.

And the person in Saint Jacques who "cared" the most about Moriarty...

"Hmm, Katas's people, huh." Zhang Shan had already guessed the identity of the stalkers in his heart.

"Boss, how should we handle the four people following us?" asked Zhang San, who was disguised as an old man for cover, via the brainwave communicator.

Closing his eyes slightly, Zhang Shan made up his mind.

"Zhang San, later, depending on their actions, do exactly as I'm about to say."

"If I give the order to kill them later, you act immediately."

"If I go with them, Zhang San, go send a message to Moriarty saying that Zhang Shan has prepared a welcoming gift for them."

"Understood, Boss." Zhang San didn't doubt his boss's arrangements at all; he trusted his master's decision-making ability one hundred percent.

The four people tailing them were very likely Katas's men.

And for Katas to make such a move, there were only two likely purposes: one was to kill Zhang Shan, and the other was simply to recruit him.

Since nothing had happened last night, Zhang Shan was more inclined to believe that Katas wasn't that eager to kill him, at least not right now.

With the absolute advantage in strength on his side, Zhang Shan hoped to quickly push this group's actions forward.

He led Zhang Yi and Zhang Er to another sparsely populated street and arranged for the other three to stand by within sight.

Unlike the lively market, this place appeared exceptionally desolate.

As long as one's eyesight was good enough, the faces of pedestrians on the road could be seen clearly one by one.

Zhang Shan stood at the intersection of this street and waved at the four people following him.

"Hey! Buddy, have you been walking all day? Aren't you tired?" Zhang Shan couldn't help but call out to the front with a hint of the local accent.

This action was undoubtedly forcing the other party to state their purpose directly.

And being in this place, whether it was an assassination or a kidnapping, it could break out at any moment.

The four people maintained their original pace, seemingly trying their best to express that they had no malicious intent.

Among the four, one wore glasses, and the other three were clearly built, their robust bodies constantly trying to show that they were exceptionally capable of fighting.

"Hello, Mr. Robinson, I am Mr. Katas's staff officer; you may call me Karl."

"Alright, Karl. Then may I ask what the purpose of your trip is?" Zhang Shan glanced sideways at Karl; he was a skinny man.

"It's always annoying to be watched while taking a walk; sigh, what a tiresome morning." Zhang Shan rested his right hand on his forehead and then sighed.

Karl hadn't expected that the fact he was tailing them would be exposed so easily by the other party; he coughed lightly and immediately explained.

"Ahem, I am very sorry, Mr. Robinson; I apologize for our rudeness."

Karl looked up slightly to observe Zhang Shan, who was much taller than him, and seeing that his expression hadn't worsened, he continued.

"Our trip here is mainly to extend an invitation to you on behalf of Mr. Katas; we hope to invite you to come with us to meet Mr. Katas."

"Tsk," Zhang Shan looked dissatisfied. "Oh? So you really are inviting me to go?"

Hearing the word "invite" that Zhang Shan had specifically emphasized, a drop of cold sweat trickled down Karl's temple.

He knew a thing or two about the five-million us dollar deal between Zhang Shan and Moriarty, and understood that Katas was determined to get his hands on Zhang Shan.

When he saw the information sent over, he had thought this young man would be easy to handle, but standing in front of him, there was an invisible pressure.

Still, he was just an arrogant young man, still a cut below Katas.

Thinking of this, Karl's slightly flustered heart immediately calmed down.

"Mr. Robinson, I believe you have some understanding of the Sipanya Mafia."

"The local tyrant Moriarty is already on his way out."

"I hope you can make the correct judgment; do not misjudge the future situation because of appearances."

Karl spoke with increasing certainty, and his previous lack of confidence vanished without a trace.

He believed that this young businessman wouldn't be so ignorant as to continue maintaining his arrogant attitude.

"Heh, don't misjudge the future situation because of appearances, is that it?" Zhang Shan repeated, implying something more.

Thinking that the time-wasting drama should end here, a fake smile spread across Zhang Shan's face.

"Since Mr. Katas is personally inviting me, surely you don't expect me to walk to see him, do you?"

Karl secretly thought that this Robinson still knew his place, so he squeezed an enhanced version of a fake smile onto his face.

"Haha, Mr. Robinson, you really know how to joke. This way, please."

"And please, the two bodyguard brothers, come along to Mr. Katas's mansion to enjoy yourselves as well." Karl winked at Zhang Yi and Zhang Er, hinting at them.

Of course, our cold, robotic, simulated humans wouldn't even look at the small-framed Karl, let alone receive those messages filled with ambiguous meaning.

Zhang Shan and the two of them boarded a black luxury business sedan nearby.

As the car slowly started and drove toward unknown territory, watching the sunset on the horizon spilling onto the earth like blood, Zhang Shan still couldn't help but remind them.

"Zhang San, quickly go tell our old friend Moriarty this good news."

"The main event is about to begin."
