20: Chapter 20 Beating a Dog When It's Drunk
Moriarty and his group looked at the base, which had been blown into an unrecognizable mess, and their excitement was beyond words. He had finally gotten his revenge.
"Mona, look, Robinson has such great ability to blow Katas's pride and joy—his secret base—into ruins. I really underestimated him before. This person has a limitless future."
Mona nodded.
"It's fortunate that we were wise enough not to go against him at the time; otherwise, we might have ended up with the same result."
Moriarty agreed wholeheartedly with Mona's assessment.
"I wonder if Katas is dead yet. If I could finish him off with my own hands, that would be even better."
After touring the dilapidated ruins, Moriarty left the place, full of smiles, taking his spoils of war with him.
Zhang Bin sat in a luxurious chair, swirling a glass of red wine in one hand while watching the neon-lit night view below.
He felt a tinge of irritation; he was not satisfied with the final outcome of the day.
After all, he had spent the whole day fawning over others, so how could it end with the destruction of Katas's base? This shouldn't have been the result.
"strongman, check if Katas is dead."
"Reporting to Boss, Katas is not dead. He survived thanks to the protection of his subordinates."
Hah, he's certainly lucky to have survived that!
Zhang Shan picked up the phone and called Moriarty, telling him Katas's current location and letting him go finish the job. It was also a way to do Moriarty a favor.
Upon receiving the accurate information, Moriarty felt a surge of adrenaline. Ever since Katas arrived, he had been suppressed at every turn, but this time, he was finally turning the tables.
On the other side, Zhang Bin narrowed his eyes and had the system provide a live feed; he also wanted to see the final outcome for Katas.
Moriarty picked a few of his burly underlings, drove a flashy sports car, and prepared to meet that loser, Katas. Showing off, after all, had to be done in the flashiest way possible.
"Hahaha, I love this feeling of abusing others the most, hahaha!"
Gustav was excited, er... roaring.
Mona touched her throbbing temple, gritting her teeth.
"Do you believe that if you say one more word, I'll throw you out of the car?!" Mona couldn't help but roar at Gustav.
The moment he heard Mona's voice, the hyper-excited Gustav instantly wilted. He silently shrank into the corner of the car.
Moriarty saw this scene and shrugged helplessly.
Truly, there is always something to keep everything in check.
Katas managed to crawl out of the ruins with great difficulty. Seeing his pride and joy—his secret base—blown into such a state, he spat out a mouthful of blood.
He secretly swore that if he ever found a chance to start over, he would definitely tear Moriarty into pieces.
Before he could finish his vow, a sound of footsteps approached, and Katas quickly hid.
"Quick, quick, search carefully. Don't miss a single crack. We must find Katas."
Katas thought he had hidden well, but he was still found by Moriarty's men without any effort.
Looking at the disheveled and miserable Katas lying on the ground, Moriarty felt a secret thrill.
Katas was covered in dust and dirt, lacking the high-spirited energy he had when they first met; now, only misery remained.
He tried his best to keep his head down, not wanting them to see his current pathetic state. He wanted to preserve his last shred of dignity.
But how could Moriarty let him go? He had finally gotten this opportunity.
He used a finger to lift Katas's head, looking down at him from above with a face full of mockery.
Moriarty's underling conveniently brought a chair for their boss.
Zhang Bin saw this scene through the system and lowered his head with a scoff.
Indeed, to deal with someone like Katas, you have to let his opponents punish him; that is the most unforgettable. Even if he luckily survives, the psychological damage is immense.
The scene shifted to Moriarty.
Moriarty raised his hand, and Mona, being very perceptive, handed him a tissue.
Moriarty wiped his hands in disgust and then threw the used tissue onto Katas's face.
Katas wanted to rush up and deal with this person who was insulting him—a person who used to bow and scrape before him. How could he! How could he be so insulted!
But now, let alone rushing up, he found it difficult even to move. The feeling of being suppressed by others was truly terrible.
Seeing his movements and gaze, Moriarty knew what he was thinking. Since that was the case, he would take things to the extreme and destroy his last shred of fantasy.
He stood up and stomped hard on Katas's arm, grinding his foot mercilessly onto Katas's hand.
"Lord Katas, long time no see. How have you been? I have really missed you."
"Oh! By the way, do you like the big gift I sent you? Hahaha."
Gustav was unhappy seeing his boss dawdling and talking. He prepared to finish off Katas quickly.
"Boss, why are you bothering to talk to him? Just kill him and be done with it, so there won't be any future trouble!"
Moriarty glanced at Mona.
Mona quickly, accurately, and ruthlessly gave Gustav a flick to the forehead. Having been hit, Gustav silently crouched in the corner drawing circles.
Hearing Moriarty's mocking words, the anger in Katas's heart rushed to his brain, and he gritted his teeth to warn Moriarty.
"Don't you gloat like a villain here. Just wait until I make a comeback; when that time comes, I will tear you into pieces to avenge today's humiliation!"
Moriarty's expression changed, and with a slap, he struck Katas's face.
"Heh, you? Katas, you overestimate yourself. Do you think I would let you walk out of these ruins alive? Haven't you understood my methods?"
At this moment, Katas truly felt panicked. He had never imagined that death would one day be so close to him. If he didn't die, he could start over, but if he died, he would have nothing left.
But his dignity absolutely would not allow him to bow his head. He gritted his teeth and said, pretending to be calm: "Moriarty, if you don't kill me today, you're not a man!"
Moriarty's eyes darkened, and he prepared to pull the trigger to make Katas disappear from this world completely.
Katas closed his eyes, waiting for death to arrive.
Suddenly, a group of men in black appeared. They were fast, accurate, and ruthless, but they didn't take anyone's life.
Moriarty was caught off guard and was about to order everyone to fight back, but he realized they had quickly retreated after saving Katas.
Moriarty was somewhat confused, not knowing who had intervened to save Katas. He only knew now that Katas's return would not be a good thing.
He ordered his subordinates to search the entire city for Katas, dead or alive.
Just as Katas was feeling fortunate to have survived, the group of people who saved him did something that would cause him lifelong despair.
Although they saved him, they also destroyed him.
They destroyed his vocal cords and severed his tendons, completely turning him into a cripple.
At this moment, Katas felt that it would have been better to just die; how could he go on living in this state?
From this moment on, there was no longer an arrogant and proud Katas in the world, only the crippled Katas.
A powerful figure of a generation had fallen.
The person manipulating all of this was Zhang Bin.
He didn't kill Katas not because he pitied him, but because he wanted to find the person behind Katas from him, thereby achieving his own goals.
Anyway, the current Katas was no different from a dead person. He had no threat.
