83: Chapter 83, Round One
"I think this whole thing was calculated by you from beginning to end. If you can't give me a perfect explanation today, don't think about leaving this place."
Tao Wei looked at Zhang Shan with a cold, piercing gaze.
"What the hell? You want an explanation from me? I'm not giving you a damn thing."
Zhang Shan sneered, slightly annoyed by his unreasonable behavior.
"Why on earth should I give you an explanation? I never told you to invest in Sun Group. You came to me on your own; I never sought you out! Besides, I didn't ask you to pay the money for the stock investment, did I? You paid it yourselves, right? So now that something has gone wrong, who can you blame?"
"Furthermore, I've already told you that after we acquired Sun Group, you could go find their person in charge, which is Zhang San. Besides, this money isn't a big deal, right? Our company is still sitting there perfectly fine. You don't need to worry about us running away, do you? Or are you using this as an excuse for some other agenda?"
Tao Wei was left speechless. Of course they had an agenda, but it was something that couldn't be brought to light. Even if he asked, they wouldn't admit it.
Tao Wei took a deep breath, telling himself to stay calm, stay calm, stay calm.
"Mr. Robinson is truly as sharp-tongued as Wang Lei said. No matter how many people come, none can outtalk you. But since Mr. Robinson is already here today, you won't be leaving. We'll talk again when you can give me a definitive answer, or when Zhang San can bring the money over."
Zhang Shan and Gu Nan immediately went into defensive mode.
Zhang Shan sneered.
"What, Mr. Tao, are you trying to make us stay? But are you sure you have the ability to keep us here? Who gave you that confidence?"
"Of course, I certainly couldn't keep you here by myself. But what if there's a whole group of us?"
Tao Wei called his underlings to assemble quickly, surrounding the two of them.
Zhang Shan looked at them as if he were looking at a bunch of idiots. These people weren't even enough for the two of them to get started.
"What's this? Judging by your posture, you want to throw hands with the two of us?"
Zhang Shan smiled disdainfully, a hint of ruthlessness flashing in his eyes as he looked at Tao Wei.
"Is this how you treat the clients you invited? Truly… unique. But are you sure you have the capability to do this?"
It wasn't that Zhang Shan was being overly arrogant. It was just that the hundred or so members of the Dragon Tiger Gang were nothing but a mob in his eyes. To him and Gu Nan, taking them down would just be a way to stretch their muscles and get some exercise; it was completely useless otherwise.
However, what Zhang Shan didn't know was that Moriarty, in order to ensure their safety, had hundreds of elite troops lying in ambush outside. Once a gunshot rang out, they would immediately storm the Emperors Pavilion.
For a small fry like Tao Wei to think they could kill them was truly overestimating their own capabilities.
"We have over a hundred elites here. Surely we can deal with the two of you?"
Tao Wei suddenly burst into laughter, looking at Zhang Shan as if he were looking at an idiot. The Emperors Pavilion was the Dragon Tiger Gang's turf, after all. Furthermore, the people in this hall were elites handpicked by Master Sun for him. Forget about facing just two people like Zhang Shan; even if there were twenty times as many, they wouldn't care.
"Robinson, you will soon realize what a huge mistake it was for you to accept the invitation to the Emperors Pavilion today. No matter how powerful you are, once you fall into my hands, everything about you will become a myth, a piece of history."
Gu Nan listened to Tao Wei bragging and couldn't help but curl his lip.
"Hey, tell me. With just this bunch of rabble, you think you can beat us? I don't know who gave you that confidence. Sometimes, having too much confidence isn't a good thing."
Gu Nan spoke up.
"What kind of thing are you, daring to interject?"
Seeing the person beside Zhang Shan speak up, Tao Wei's temper instantly flared.
"None of your damn business! Who I am is none of your concern. Who do you think you are?"
Gu Nan returned to his devil-may-care attitude.
"Hahahaha! I love this attitude of yours, still running your mouths when death is at your doorstep. Men, go grab that Robinson for me!"
Tao Wei sneered.
"Yes!"
A burly, broad-shouldered man stepped out, looking at Zhang Shan with a sinister grin.
"Oh my, you young man, your face is really fair. What a pretty boy. Tonight, you'll serve me well, and I'll have a good time."
Zhang Shan just felt a bit disgusted by his teasing. The only trait he had was that if someone teased him, they were either crippled or dead.
"Otter, it's time for you to perform. Oh, right, don't kill him, just cripple him."
Gu Nan stepped forward with a smile, blocking the burly man and beckoning with his finger in a highly provocative manner.
"Come on, come on. Ugly monster, I'm your target."
As soon as the burly man heard Gu Nan call him an ugly monster, he flew into a rage, let out a roar, and charged forward.
"You bastard, how dare you call me an ugly monster! Go to hell!"
Gu Nan looked at this muscle-bound, simple-minded man, shook his head, then locked onto his chest, stepped forward, and threw a punch as swift as lightning.
"Bang!"
A dull thud was heard, sounding like a dead pig hitting the ground. Looking in the direction of the sound, one could see the burly man spitting blood as he flew backward.
Tao Wei and his men were shocked.
"What the f*ck!"
"Holy sh*t, how is this possible?"
"This is one of the best fighters we have here, how could he not even block a single move from him?"
The members of the Dragon Tiger Gang who were watching from the sidelines looked at Gu Nan in disbelief. Although that burly man wasn't the strongest among them, he was certainly ranked up there. Yet, such a formidable figure had been defeated in one move. It was unbelievable.
Tao Wei's face changed drastically. He really hadn't expected the person beside him to be so formidable. He glared fixedly at Zhang Shan.
"So that's why, Mr. Robinson. How could you listen to Wang Lei and come to the Emperors Pavilion alone? I thought you were just too overconfident, but I didn't expect Mr. Robinson to have such an incredible expert by your side. No wonder you dared to come to the Emperors Pavilion; it turns out you had something to rely on!"
Gu Nan curled his lip. This idiot probably hadn't seen much of the world if he thought this was impressive. It seemed they had overestimated him today.
"Hey, hey, hey, tell me. Is there no one truly powerful here? Why is it always trash coming to fight me? Are you looking down on us?"
Gu Nan's words were like a heavy hammer striking Tao Wei's heart.
