8: Chapter 8 Loading Goods

"Are you saying that without you, I'd be beaten by Katas until I couldn't walk?"

As the young women left, Moriarty didn't get angry at Zhang Shan's words; instead, he took the initiative to joke with him.

"That's not quite what I meant."

"Mr. Moriarty, what I meant was, with me, you could be the one beating Katas until he couldn't walk."

Zhang Shan replied humorously.

"Then I really must see what this 'big business' of yours is."

"Could it be yourself?"

"If that's the case, I'm afraid I'll have to throw you onto Mona's bed and let you taste the whip."

Moriarty said, laughing heartily.

Mona naturally didn't leave with the other women; she chuckled softly at this moment.

Her beautiful eyes were soul-stirring.

"I have something here even more powerful than a whip."

"Arms."

Zhang Shan poured himself another glass of wine.

"Of course, I'd also love to taste Miss Mona's whip."

Zhang Shan poured another glass of wine and handed it to Mona, showing no fear of Moriarty's teasing or Mona's allure.

"An arms dealer? It seems you really are a novice."

"I just don't know how you found out about the business between Katas and me."

Moriarty's face finally turned cold.

This world has never lacked arms dealers, especially Americans, who sell arms all over the world and provide vast quantities of weaponry to underground forces globally every year.

A novice arms dealer running over to him, Moriarty, was nothing more than an attempt to peddle arms.

If it weren't for the fact that Zhang Shan brought up Katas's name right from the start, Moriarty might have already shown him the door.

But how could Moriarty be short on arms?

You could say he was, and you could say he wasn't.

Moriarty had countless ways to acquire simple weapons and equipment; it was standard issue for any underground force. Otherwise, how could you even hope to survive in this business?

But once it involved heavy weaponry and equipment, it became a scarce resource.

Not just the ZL national government, but even the world's largest arms dealer—the US government—prevented underground forces in any country from obtaining such things.

For example, tanks, armored vehicles, armed helicopters, and so on.

Unless the US was directly inciting civil strife in that country.

In the country of ZL, although underground forces appeared rampant, no one knew how many people fell every year.

To protect themselves and expand their influence, most underground forces in ZL were desperate to develop their own armed strength, because you never knew when an opponent might strike.

After all, the ZL government was incompetent, which both created the prosperity of the underground forces and intensified the fighting between them.

Take Moriarty for example; despite his glamorous appearance, he was actually on the verge of collapse in the shadows.

It had been rumored that Moriarty's relationship with the government had been tense recently, and he no longer possessed the "bright future" of collusion between officials and the underworld.

But in reality, Moriarty knew this was because another organization had set its sights on him.

That organization was the Sipanya Mafia, far away in Europe!

Its leader in NM was named Katas, and this person had been actively courting the ZL government, which led outsiders to think Moriarty had lost government support.

Although it's said that a powerful dragon shouldn't bully a local snake, what if this powerful dragon wanted to become the next local snake?

Although Europe and NM were far apart, don't forget that the entire continent of NM was once almost entirely a colony of Sipanya!

Katas of the Sipanya Mafia wanted to annex Moriarty's forces and gave him two choices.

Either join the Sipanya Mafia directly, or be wiped out.

Who knows what kind of love potion Katas fed the ZL government, but they were actually going to dump Moriarty, their long-term partner.

The Sipanya Mafia was the largest underground force in Sipanya, and it also had the backing of the Sipanya government.

Facing such a cross-continental, ambitious behemoth, Moriarty was naturally deeply worried.

Moriarty had a significant reputation in Saint Jacques, but outside the country of ZL, who would know a leader of an underground criminal organization from such a small country?

"Not only do I know Katas of the Sipanya Mafia, but as luck would have it, I also have a vendetta against him."

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend, so I came to find you."

As soon as this classic phrase was spoken, it instantly closed the distance between Zhang Shan and Moriarty.

Moriarty was certainly no fool; he couldn't easily believe Zhang Shan's one-sided story.

But without direct evidence that the other party was lying, Moriarty couldn't very well flip out on the spot.

"I know Mr. Moriarty doesn't believe me, but I truly had a friend die at the hands of Katas."

"I tracked Katas from Sipanya, so I naturally understand his goals."

"That's why I knew to come and cooperate with you."

Zhang Shan's attitude was sincere; he spun a half-truthful tale based on the information he possessed to lower Moriarty's guard.

In fact, Zhang Shan wasn't just spouting nonsense.

Back when Zhang Shan was still a fledgling assassin, he had had a few companions.

Among them, one companion had fallen at the hands of Katas while executing a mission in Sipanya.

Part of the reason Zhang Shan came to ZL to execute a mission was to track down Katas.

Therefore, he could truly say he knew quite a bit about Katas, and by extension, he had also learned about Moriarty.

Just as Zhang Shan said, the enemy of an enemy is a friend.

"I naturally believe in your sincerity, Robinson, but before you make big claims, shouldn't you show me your strength?"

"I know you might be good at fighting, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can help me."

The reason Moriarty was interested in Zhang Shan was that he had seen the scene downstairs earlier and admired Zhang Shan's style of doing things and his strength.

But just because a person is strong doesn't mean they can accomplish everything.

Otherwise, why wouldn't you, Robinson, just go kill Katas yourself?

In his tone, Moriarty already had the intention of seeing him off.

"Since Mr. Robinson says he is an arms dealer, why don't you let us see your cargo?"

At the critical moment, it was Miss Mona, who had previously accepted benefits from Zhang Shan, who spoke up for him.

"Of course, my cargo will surely satisfy Miss Mona!"

Zhang Shan cast a grateful look at Miss Mona.

"Yi, Er, load the cargo!"

To avoid exposure, Zhang Shan only called Zhang Yi and Zhang Er by their names when outside, not their surnames.

Upon receiving Zhang Shan's command, the silent Zhang Yi and Zhang Er immediately pulled up a black suitcase.

Neither Mona nor Moriarty had paid attention before, but now, looking closely at Zhang Yi, they realized that the two people behind Zhang Shan were truly strong and muscular.

The black suitcase, which looked incredibly heavy, was handled with ease by Zhang Yi and Zhang Er.

As for what was inside the suitcase, both Moriarty and Mona were eager to know.
