87: Chapter 87, the final round, a complete victory.
The bullet grazed Zhang Shan's face, embedding itself into the old marble floor and sending up a shower of sparks. Immediately following that, a scream erupted; Zhang Shan had dislocated Wang Lei's arm with lightning speed.
Wang Lei clutched his arm and howled in disbelief, watching the gun fall from his hand to the floor.
Zhang Shan looked at Wang Lei with disdain. Before anyone could react, he lashed out with a kick at the nearest member of the Dragon Tiger Gang. These members of the Dragon Tiger Gang had not expected Zhang Shan to make a move while a dozen guns were pointed at him; caught off guard, they were kicked to the ground by Zhang Shan.
In a flash, Zhang Shan appeared before them, snatched the submachine gun from one of them, and held it in his hand. Before Tao Wei and his men could react, he pressed the barrel of the gun against Tao Wei's head.
"Hey, if you want to live, tell them to put their guns down," Zhang Shan said indifferently.
Tao Wei was truly incensed. After all, his brothers had been taken down by Zhang Shan and his group, and now his own head was being held at gunpoint, all within a matter of minutes. He hadn't even fully registered what was happening, but the dark, hollow muzzle pressed against his head caused sweat to pour down his forehead like water.
Upon hearing Zhang Shan's words, he hurriedly shouted to his subordinates, "Quick, quick! Put your guns down!"
Once the members of the Dragon Tiger Gang had lowered their guns, Gu Nan began raining punches and kicks upon the members of the Dragon Lake Gang, as if venting his rage.
"I'll beat you to death! You dogs, no one has ever dared to point a gun at me, yet you actually dared to! I think you're tired of living. Go on, resist! Fight back, you pieces of trash!"
Within moments, he had knocked all of Tao Wei's subordinates to the ground.
Zhang Shan pressed the gun against his head, inch by inch. "Mr. Tao, tell me, how should I deal with you?" Zhang Shan feigned a look of distress.
"M-Mr. Robinson, do whatever you wish, I only beg you to spare my life and let me live."
Tao Wei was trembling with fear at this moment; facing the dark, hollow muzzle and seeing his brothers lying on the ground, he was scared to death!
"Oh? What do you mean by that? Spare your life? But you were the one clamoring to kill me just a moment ago!" Zhang Shan said coldly.
"Hahahaha, Mr. Robinson, you've misunderstood. How would I dare to kill you? I was just joking with you earlier! It was Wang Lei's idea to kill you; it really has nothing to do with me."
Tao Wei was now fully displaying his treacherous nature; to save his own skin, he didn't care about anything else.
"Tao Wei, you…?" Wang Lei clutched his dislocated arm, staring at Tao Wei with a livid face. He had never expected that he would end up being the scapegoat in this situation.
"Shut up! Is this a place for you to speak?" Zhang Shan was displeased that an outsider had interrupted while he was questioning someone. It seemed he had been too merciful; he had only dislocated the man's arm. But letting Wang Lei die so easily would be letting him off too lightly, which was why he hadn't taken his life immediately.
"You…" Wang Lei stared at Zhang Shan with a livid face, but he dared not say anything. After all, Zhang Shan was currently in control of the entire situation, and his killing intent was so heavy that Wang Lei didn't dare utter another word.
"Otter, stop watching the show. Don't you see that some useless people have started talking? Keep an eye on him for me. If he dares to say another word, stab him. If you don't stop him from talking in time, be careful, or I'll deal with you."
"Got it," Gu Nan said, scratching his head.
"Robinson, you dare! You dare to touch me—!" Before Wang Lei could finish his sentence, Gu Nan appeared before him, shaking his head at the insolent man.
"Why couldn't you just stay quiet? You had to run your mouth and force me to take action. Do you have any idea how tired I am?"
As soon as Gu Nan finished speaking, his hand shot out, stabbing the man's arm several times, and blood immediately began to gush out.
The sudden, excruciating pain nearly caused Wang Lei to faint. But having now witnessed their ruthlessness, he dared not let out a single scream, only glaring at Zhang Shan and Gu Nan with hateful eyes. He really hadn't expected them to be capable of such cruelty.
Gu Nan jumped up and struck him hard on the head. "What are you looking at? If you keep staring, do you believe I'll gouge your eyeballs out?"
Zhang Shan sneered. "Tao Wei, it's not impossible for me to spare your wretched life, but that depends on your performance. If you perform well, I'll let you live; if you don't, I'll send you to meet God."
Upon hearing these words, he began to tremble like a leaf. Wang Lei's miserable state had truly scared him half to death.
"Mr. Robinson, I—I can give you money. I can give you all of my money."
"Money? I'm not interested. I'm not short on cash," Zhang Shan said, exuding an air of wealth and confidence.
"Then, then what exactly does Mr. Robinson want? As long as I have it, I will give it to you." Tao Wei's lips were turning increasingly pale as the fear in his heart grew ever greater.
Zhang Shan stared at Tao Wei with a grin for quite a while before speaking. "I want to know who else was involved in this plot against me, besides that good-for-nothing Wang Lei? I want to know everything, clearly and distinctly."
"Also… also Master Sun. These people were all sent to me by Master Sun," Tao Wei said quickly.
"Why does this Master Sun want to deal with me? I have no grudge against him."
Tao Wei's eyes darted around; he absolutely could not reveal Master Sun's true objective, or Master Sun would never let him off the hook.
"You really don't know?" The killing intent in Zhang Shan's eyes surged.
"Mr. Robinson! Mr. Robinson, I really don't know!" Feeling the intense killing intent radiating from Zhang Shan, Tao Wei's legs began to tremble with terror.
"Mr. Robinson, I was just following orders. Everything was arranged by Master Sun; I don't know anything else! I sought out Wang Lei because I knew he held a grudge against you and thought he would be of help to me, so that's why I approached him."
"Is that all?" Zhang Shan stared at him. Tao Wei nodded hurriedly.
"Then tell me, how exactly did you plan to kill me?" Zhang Shan said coldly.
"We originally intended to lure you to the Emperors Pavilion, and then use our numerical advantage to finish you off."
Tao Wei dared not continue. At the same time, he was filled with immense regret; if he had known that Zhang Shan was this terrifying and formidable, he would never have accepted this mission, no matter what.
After all, even if their plan had been meticulous, with the two of them possessing such formidable combat skills, who would end up killing whom remained an unknown.
