73: Chapter 73 Persuasion

Thinking of this, Victoria immediately adjusted her emotions and ordered the housekeeper to serve the meal. She needed to eat her fill; only by being well-fed would she have the strength to confront her father.

This was going to be a tough battle to fight.

After eating, Victoria pulled herself together and applied exquisite makeup. Even though she was the one asking for a favor, she couldn't lose her dignity. She had to maintain her elegance and nobility.

— —

Victoria arrived at the entrance of Xu Yi's villa in the suburbs.

She looked up at the villa's gate, her heart trembling slightly. After all, she hadn't grown up living with her father, and she didn't know his habits or temper very well. Coming here today to beg her father was a last resort, but she had no choice but to brace herself.

After entering the villa,

Xu Yi sat on the sofa, watching his daughter standing before him.

Facing her father, Victoria was a little scared. She stood trembling on the opposite side of him.

She had only seen her father a few times growing up. But every time she saw him, she felt a sense of anxiety and trepidation, especially when looking into his eyes. Victoria felt as if she were standing in an abyss.

"Victoria, why are you here?"

Xu Yi said slowly. After all, he knew his daughter a little bit; if she didn't have something going on, she would absolutely never step foot into this villa.

"I, I..." Victoria was truly very nervous. She didn't even know how to form a complete sentence now.

Watching his daughter like this, Xu Yi couldn't help but sigh. His daughter's mental fortitude was too weak; why was she so afraid to see her own father?

"Don't be afraid of me. I am your father. Just tell me what's wrong. Seeing you like this makes me feel uneasy, too." Xu Yi broke the silence to comfort Victoria.

"Father, I only have one thing to ask of you today."

Victoria gathered her courage and said.

"As you know, my son and my husband both died at the hands of Robinson. I really cannot tolerate this, so I came here just to ask you to help me deal with Robinson. I hope you can agree to this request, Father."

Victoria closed her eyes, steeled herself, and quickly blurted out her request.

Xu Yi shook his head. As expected, she came for this.

"Victoria~ This matter..."

"Are you going to refuse my request, Father?"

Victoria seemed to have guessed Xu Yi's thoughts and quickly interrupted him.

"You're right. I can agree to anything else, but not this."

"What? Why, Father?"

Victoria was somewhat desperate.

"Victoria, generally speaking, you were the ones who started this. Robinson didn't provoke you actively. He was just retaliating. But you were so dissatisfied with his retaliation that you kept holding onto him and wouldn't let go."

"Victor was like this, you are like this, and Victor Anfei is also like this? Haven't you learned anything from this?"

Xu Yi said meaningfully.

"Father, what do you mean by that?"

"Victoria, let Robinson go, and let yourself go. You have lost two of your closest people. Haven't you figured it out yet?"

Xu Yi was truly frustrated by her lack of progress. How could his daughter be so obsessed with this?

"What if I say no?"

Victoria said with a determined look.

"Then I still have to advise you. Robinson is not an ordinary person; I knew that the moment I first saw him. I also notified Anfei about this immediately, telling him not to go against Robinson anymore. If possible, I asked him to try his best to become friends with him."

Xu Yi said earnestly.

"But he didn't. Not only did he go against my wishes, but he also kept going against Robinson. As far as I know, in the end, Robinson still gave him a chance to survive, but he couldn't withstand the mental pressure himself and jumped off the building. Who can you really blame for that?"

Xu Yi looked at Victoria, wanting an answer from her.

"If, if, if Robinson hadn't pushed so hard, if he hadn't insisted on handing him over to the police, things wouldn't have turned out that way."

Victoria argued desperately.

Xu Yi went up, pulled Victoria up, and had her sit beside him. He tried his best to take care of Victoria's feelings.

"Daughter! Actually, logically speaking, Anfei didn't have blood on his hands; even if he were sentenced, it wouldn't be for many years. If he could accept that, he could make a comeback after a few years when he gets out. I could help him make a comeback. But he just couldn't get past it."

"He felt that if he went to jail in Zhili Country, he would lose face forever and never be able to hold his head high. But if he could have just let go of his pride, things would never have ended up like this. So, this matter cannot all be blamed on Robinson."

At this point, Victoria was already sobbing. In her heart, she understood the cause and effect of this matter, but she was just unwilling to accept it; she was unwilling to accept that her son and husband had both fallen at the hands of the same person.

"Father, what should I do? I have no husband and no son left."

At this moment, Victoria revealed the confusion of a wife and mother.

Xu Yi patted her shoulder.

"Daughter, don't be so desperate. You still have your eldest son, you still have your father. You cannot collapse so quickly; your son still needs you. I just hope you can let go of your hatred, live a good life, and stop passing on thoughts of revenge to your other son."

"If you continue to be so obsessed, you might even lose your last son."

Xu Yi looked at his sobbing daughter, his heart aching, but he still had to make his daughter let go of her hatred and live a good life.

"Father, it's too easy for you to say. Everything is easier said than done. I can't do it."

Victoria was really on the verge of a breakdown.

Seeing his daughter like this, he made a decision.

"Victoria, I will send you to reunite with your other son. You two should just live a good life in that country. Don't think about so much anymore, and don't return to Zhili Country. Just pretend nothing happened here. Live a good life there."

Victoria originally wanted to refuse, but she knew that even if she did, it would be useless. This matter was already a settled conclusion, so she could only nod, indicating her agreement with her father's decision.
