12: Chapter 12 The New House and the Edil Club

Su Ye spent the morning with a Beike real estate agent, visiting three or four locations and viewing three apartments. After grabbing a meal with the agent, he finally chose a four-bedroom apartment on Chengdu Financial Island. The rent was 12,000 per month, with a "one month's deposit and three months' rent" payment structure. Nearly 50,000 was gone in an instant, though the agency fee was naturally covered by the landlord.

He called the landlord of his rental in Kangle Community to explain the situation. Su Ye didn't intend to ask for his deposit back; after all, it was his breach of contract, and the landlord would need time to find a new tenant. There was no reason to make the landlord bear the cost. Besides, the landlord was quite nice and hadn't bothered him once during the six months he lived there.

Watching the moving company pack his things in an orderly fashion, Su Ye handed over the keys to the rental and, after a glance at the tightly closed door across the hall, returned to his new apartment.

He opened the fingerprint lock and didn't bother the movers while they organized and cleaned the room, as he had already paid for those services.

Looking around, the entire apartment featured a minimalist design with a black and white color scheme. The lighting consisted of adjustable cool white and warm yellow tones.

Upon entering, the living room was on the left, while the dining table and open kitchen were on the right. Through the large floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, one could look directly out at the river view.

Walking further in, the guest bathroom was on the right, and a guest room was on the left. Su Ye didn't plan to touch this guest room; it could be used if friends or family came to visit.

At the end of the hallway, the master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom was on the left, and two smaller rooms were on the right. Su Ye planned to convert one into an e-sports room and the other into a gym.

The apartment had a usable area of nearly 150 square meters and came fully furnished with all appliances, making it completely move-in ready. Apart from being on a high floor (the 21st) and the rent being a bit pricey, there were no other issues.

Before long, the movers had packed Su Ye's belongings neatly and cleaned the entire apartment. Since it was a new unit that hadn't been lived in, it was relatively easy to clean.

Su Ye strolled around his new place to familiarize himself with the surroundings before heading downstairs. If he remembered correctly, there was a gym nearby that looked quite high-end.

Standing at the entrance of the gym, Su Ye saw a charcoal-black sign with six large characters shimmering with a dark luster: Edir Fitness Club.

As soon as he walked into the gym, a wave of cool air hit him, causing Su Ye to shiver involuntarily. A crisp voice rang out:

"Welcome to Edir Fitness Club."

Su Ye turned his head and saw a young woman wearing a white crop top and black yoga pants bowing slightly toward him. A glimpse of white at her chest nearly dazzled his eyes.

He rubbed his nose awkwardly. "Um, this is my first time here. Could you introduce the place to me?"

The young woman looked up. She had a rather cute appearance and, seeing Su Ye looking a bit awkward, she didn't laugh, showing great professional training.

"Hello, customer. Please follow me."

After speaking, she said a few words into her walkie-talkie, and another girl in the same attire walked out from a partition to stand at the front desk. Su Ye took one look—good heavens, this one was even bigger! He quickly gathered his focus and followed the first girl.

The girl leading Su Ye began to show him around the fitness club.

"Our Edir Fitness Club originated in Australia and is a national high-end chain. We have 137 branches across the country, and membership cards are valid nationwide. We have multiple locations in Chengdu, and each branch occupies no less than 5,000 square meters. Every branch is equipped with a heated swimming pool of at least 2,000 square meters."

"Our Edir Fitness Club offers fashionable and diverse fitness courses. We have introduced the New Zealand LES MILLS fitness system, as well as yoga, dance, and other classes. At the same time, we have a private training area that includes a boxing ring and a professional martial arts training hall."

"We provide one-on-one exclusive private coaching services, which can be tailored to the fitness enthusiast's physique, interests, hobbies, and goals. We also provide members with InBody body composition testing and analysis, including data on weight, muscle, fat, and more. We also conduct posture assessments and fitness tests, and set the intensity and content of private coaching courses based on the test results and member needs. Additionally, we provide exercise advice and daily healthy diet recommendations."

As the girl introduced the club, Su Ye looked around and nodded from time to time. Perhaps because it was the afternoon, there were very few people in the gym, but Su Ye looked at the equipment and saw it was very comprehensive. Occasionally hearing a bit of guidance from private coaches, it felt quite professional.

The main thing was that the club's environment was good, with many water features. Not only was it not far from where he lived, but he could also get customized daily nutritional meals. Su Ye was still a rather laid-back person and didn't want to go through the trouble of making nutritional meals every day.

"What are your rates?"

Seeing Su Ye ask about the key point, the girl was secretly delighted. One had to know that for front desk staff like them, apart from their basic salary, they lived on commissions from members. Edir Gym was quite conscientious in this regard; the front desk could get a 10% commission, and if performance was excellent, they could get up to 15%. If a client signed up for a private coach, there was also a 3% commission.

One had to know that as a high-end chain, Edir Fitness Club's fees were not cheap. The lowest monthly card was 3,000 per month. If it were a 30,000 annual card, one could directly get a 3,000 commission.

"Hello, customer. Our current annual card promotion is 30,000 for the membership fee. The normal rate is 3,000 per month."

Su Ye rubbed his chin and murmured:

"That price isn't expensive."

Upon hearing this, the girl was overjoyed. 3,000 was already waving at her. She couldn't help but lean closer to Su Ye, the softness of her chest rubbing against his arm.

A wave of fragrance assailed him, disturbing Su Ye's thoughts. He thought to himself that although his mission was only for a month, it didn't mean he wouldn't exercise afterward. He could start with a quarterly card and see how it went. If it wasn't suitable, there wouldn't be much loss later. Moreover, as a high-end national chain, Su Ye had just done a quick search online and found that basically every first- or second-tier city had one or several branches, so he wouldn't have to worry about not finding a place to exercise when he went out in the future.

"Let's start with a quarterly card for now. Emmm, also show me the information about your private coaches."

Initially, upon hearing that Su Ye only wanted to open a quarterly card, the girl felt a wave of disappointment. Although a quarterly card also had an 800 commission, it certainly couldn't compare to 3,000, though she didn't show it on her face.

"Mhm, alright. I'll take you to register—"

"You want to hire a private coach?"

The girl was a bit shocked because she had already mentioned that Edir Fitness Club had public coaches. Every private coach worked in shifts, so unless one had very high requirements, there was absolutely no need to hire a private coach.
